    50 MB?!

    • Yep, 50mb

      • +1

about as much data as a high resolution recording of your average fart

        • Average fart carries data faster than my ADSL2 connection ;-)

    • lol

edit - Hmmm, I will have to make sure to spread the 50mb out over the full 30 days…

  • -8

    It's free.

    Wasn't free before.

    Why the smart alec remarks?

I thought this was Ozbargains, people?

    • +5

Err.. Since when is $2 'free'?

    • -1

Well you need to pay $2 for the sim card as well as adding credit to it before before you can recieve the 'free' 50MB of data.

Not really a deal in my opinion.

      • -2

        Wrong.

You do not need to recharge.

All sims come with 50mb for free.

        • Even if that is the case it's still not a deal.

        • -4

          I think it is.

        • For $2.00

  • 50 mb about 1 minute video on skype.

  • +2

50MB would be enough to do a 3G speed test right?

  • +2

The also charge by MB, so just 50 whatapps msg already finish it all.

  • +2

Mods please remove, no bargain at all

    • +1

      Still some + votes :)

    • -7

      Yes, it is.

      Open your eyes, dude.

There was no 50mb data before.

      Now, there is.

    • +3

Back in 1999 is a bargain!

  • +1

    Awesome 50MB!!!!!

    That's just $40 a GB, bargain.

  • -3

Thanks Lindy. Ignore the lynch mob. Its just how they get off - putting other people down.

    • Oh ok, fair enough.

    • -1

or maybe they're just helping other ozbargainers out by preventing them from getting ripped off, thinking this is a deal when it isn't.

  • +4

    No deal!!
Not worth the time for activating

  • I guess that's enough to get on the Optus website to recharge?

I won't neg the deal, I feel for ya OP. I can't bring myself to up vote it either, though.

    • But, You don't need to recharge to get 50mb.

I admit that Vodafone's $2 SIM offer is better:

      50mb

      AND

      $5 credit!

      • Hi there Fedora in the penalty box I see.

  • 2 Dollars. having to remove your current sim and 5-10 minutes activating (assuming it's painless) for 50mb?

If you need data that badly:
    http://wirelesslans.com.au/wifi/mcdonalds-australia-store-wi…

  • Even at AYG rates on Amaysim or Aldimobile 50MB would only cost $2.50, so a saving of $0.50. For that you have to activate a SIM. Sorry, no deal. Maybe it might be a bonus for someone who was going to start an Optus plan anyway, so I won't neg, but nuh uh.

  • Not a deal. Not worth the time for 50mb

  • About 60X worse than 3G worth, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/105640 11mo 16d ago. $0.
No 2-$ days by this value either. Just a bad deal. Free hotspots exist already.

  • If ur after data, Woolies @ Wed: 50% off Vodafone USB Extreme Modem 3G+ Starter Pack + 3GB Included Data $19.50. EDR CARD DEAL

  • Useful for running a speedtest before you commit, and I commend Optus for that, however on an OzBargain level it is really "50MB for $2" or "Run a speedtest on an Optus SIM for $2"

  • Perhaps 50MB is a plan they intend taking consumers back to in the future, grab one preview for a price of a cheeseburger.

  • Why are we here?

    • +1

We're here for the beer (and popcorn ;)

  • +1

Still useful foranyone who wants a temp sim.
    Travellers etc.
Enuf for a few txts and emails etc.
This is definitely a deal even if only a small one.
    Rhx to op.

  • No deal, not a special promotion like the Voda/Coles one. Everyday price.

Also unlike what the poster states the 50mb is only for the $2 mobile broadband sim, not a standard prepaid phone sim.

  • 50mb? what is this? an internet for ants?

Optus have poor coverage and even worse performance, so it would take you a whole month to use 50mb anyway.

Rude customer service and nasty hidden exit fees, a very shady company indeed.

Neg because it is Optus and $2 for 50mb is woeful. Vodafail is bad, but last place has now been taken by Optus…

  • i thought it was a joke post

astounded that the OP takes it seriously

    its 50Mb yo

you can kill that reading a handful of emails

  • Why I think I have seen a deal someone posting the same thing before and also attracting a lot of neg too. BTW, this is no deal to me. Not when you need to recharge before getting 50MB which means it is not free.
