  • any similar sales from other states? or just perth

    • Sorry, was only able to find bargains like this from Perth.

      Darwin $149.76 return :)

      • +1

        a few for $139.76 aswell

        • $30.76 back, that's crazy!

        • Hi clarky. If you don't mind, I'll update the post to include Darwin. Great find! Cheers mate.

        • Sure champ :)

        • Just added Adelaide as well. Melbourne's coming in at $418 which is also a great price, but won't bother posting it. Thanks again.

      • Darwin usually has prices around $170 return inc CC fees, so I didn't consider it an ozbargain deal. I'll include Darwain in future.

An Australian dies in Bali every 9 days. Just sayin'.

    • +17

Maybe we will be able to get cheaper flights on the return leg then ;)

      • Incredibly, it's $109 to Denpasar, and only $46 on the way back! How can they afford to sell so cheap?

        • +1

I'm not 100% sure but if foreign airlines were able to get government subsidised jet fuel (Unleaded is like 40-50c a litre) then that would make sense. Otherwise, I have no idea.

Bearing in mind it costs $25USD to enter Indonesia and about $15AUD to leave the country.

        • " How can they afford to sell so cheap?"
You would be surprised what can be saved with less maintenance and cheap pilots… :-)

        • +2

…and less bureaucracy, tax, unions, executive bonus's, airport fees etc, etc.

        • Some European budget airlines demand government subsidies to fly to new and small regional airports. The fuel itself isn't any cheaper for the airline but they do get extra cash per passenger as it's seen as beneficial to the local economy.

Also bear in mind that even if fuel was unfairly subsidised for the Indonesian airline but not Australian, the Indonesian company still needs to refuel at the full rate for 50% of its flights.

        • +1

That's courtesy of our government's $50+ departure tax. In Indonesia you pay the tax cash on departure - not included in ticket price and it is much lower.

Best if I only go for 8 days then

An Australian dies in Bali every 9 days

Ye, but how many Australians die in Australia every 9 days?

      • +3

More importantly….If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

We booked a September trip during a previous Jet* sale…When you factor in the plus plus on these fares it works out at around the same price we paid. Still a good price nevertheless..

      • You should be comparing apples to apples.

Your comparision will be better served as
"How many Balinese die in Australia every 9 days?"

    • +1

So the more people that go should result in an increase in your odds of survival ;-)

    • +13

A bogan dies in Bali every 9 days. Just sayin'.

      corrected

    • +2

about 400 Australians die each day in Australia, just sayin'.

edit: oops tightarse beat me to it.

      • if that is accurate, 9 (bogans) in Bali is actually quite high.

      The real Bali….

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/larissa-and-michael-milne/why-…

Read the story in full before buying ANY holiday in Bali.
I can vouch for the story because I experienced the EXACT SAME THING.

By all means go… but just be completely aware of what you are buying, that's all.

If you are happy to just stay in the resort pool, no worries.
But if you think you are going to swim on a postcard style beach, think again.
And even if the beach is freshly raked, the water most certainly isnt.

You want to know why there is such a thing as "Bali Belly" ? Because the water is full of filth.

      • I agree 100%
Each to their own, but I urge people to try other parts of Asia and the world instead of always going to Bali, it's not that cheap anymore (I know of people that are going for the 10th time and have been no where else).
Personally I wouldn't go if someone paid me $200 (not very ozbargain in spirit, i know)

        • +1

Is that because you stay in Kuta/Seminyak/Legion? I recently spent 3 weeks on a dive trip in Bali, starting in the north and then slowly working my way around before finishing up with some surfing in Uluwatu. Total time spent in Kuta was 1 night, and it was as terrible/dirty/drunk as you'd expect.
Not to mention you have the Gilis and Lombok a short boat ride away, and from there you can get to Komodo and Flores Island.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't see other parts of Asia, just don't write Bali off as a complete cesspit.
And yes, I agree 100% that if someone has been to Bali 10 times, and never anywhere else, they are missing out.

        • Yeah very good points, I did generalise, probably didn't help I'd come straight from Japan last trip to Bali, polar opposites
We stayed ~30mins south of Kuta, did explore a bit, up to Ubud, saw lots of beautiful temples
I feel the tourism is bringing out the worst of the country, and it's sad, and I don't think doubling the airport capacity is going to help if they don't use the money to fix things
I'm sure there are lovely parts of bali not tainted

        • Ever since Indonesia took over Bali and regulated the water supply of rice farmers through a governmental water board rather than the traditional local water allocation system that things have massively deteriorated.

        • +1

Bali is part of Indonesia since ancient time. If there are some aussies stupid enough to think Bali is part of aussie then you're stupidly mistaken and should go back to primary school or maybe kindergarten.

        • In 1946 the Dutch constituted Bali as one of the 13 administrative districts of the newly proclaimed State of East Indonesia, a rival state to the Republic of Indonesia which was proclaimed and headed by Sukarno and Hatta. Bali was included in the "Republic of the United States of Indonesia" when the Netherlands recognised Indonesian independence on 29 December 1949.

Every country has their fair share of pollution and environmental issues. Poorer countries are slower to be able to respond. This article should have been titled "The Real Kuta…" Anyone planning a trip to Bali knows Kuta is a hole. That's old news. You can't judge the country by the one or two black spots. And Bali Belly is easy to avoid, you just have to be careful and use common sense.

Having just spent a week in Bali with my wife and two young children we had a wonderful time visiting wonderful places appreciating the beautiful people and culture. We felt very safe. We drank bottled water and were careful where we ate and none of us got sick. My kids said it was the best holiday they had ever had.

Honestly, if you just see Bali as a place to lie on Kuta beach and get smashed on cheap piss then you will get what you asked for.

      • The simplest amount of research on Indonesia should make you want to stay far, far away. They don't deserve our tourist dollars. If you want a starting point, try the documentary "The Act of Killing".

Is your quote from this article?
      http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/australians-st…

There are so many things wrong with it. It starts and ends with maths. How do 31 people in a year make one every 9 days? I'd say it's one every 11.7 days (365/31).

Then, according to the article, Bali gets 3 million tourists a year, a third Aussies, that is 1 million. If each of them stays on average for 1 week that means that there are 20,000 Aussies in Bali at any point in time. With a life expectancy of below 100 years, you should see over 200 deaths per year in a population of 20,000.

Remarkable! You are 7 times more likely to survive your time in Bali than at home. And that includes unlicensed motorbike drivers without helmet and other idiot behaviour.

    • then don't go there then, just stay in your own country.

    Nice! Thanx TA :-)

  • Amazing price! Shame I already booked for my parents earlier this year for more than double the price! Sssh, I better not tell them…

  • +1

Bris/OOL seems to have only average pricing in mid july + august ~$400

  • Thanks. Great deal.

    Family of 4 + 1 infant $778 return inc 2x20kgs.
the 5pax$17 booking fee really eats the value. Infant is 40 + 40 + 17 booking fee so $97, no seat.

But I guess, for the extra insurance cover the trusty platinum card provides, the $78 is probably worth it. I have this horror fear of a moped or car accident (not the damage, the legal nightmares).

Only problem is the A320 only does max 1.9m luggage so the 10'6 SUP will have to stay home.

    • Often the insurance isn't worth a thing, too many hoops to qualify/claim. Read the fine print.

    • The SUP should always stay at home, except when you are taking it to the dump.

      • Ouch! But I understand your view too.
The sad truth is that even though I have been surfing for many years it has become really hard to "enjoy the aloha" of surfing…. too many screaming hassling aggressive players in the water ruining the vibe today on a shortboard, if you are not super fit/talented and at times pushy.

with the SUP - there is a little bit of 'freshness' in surfing still around… and being chained to office desk - I can catch a few waves with below average fitness ;)

  • Gah, wish it was cheaper from Melbourne :(

    • +1

with the kind of winter weather in Melbourne, why go Bali?

      • Melbourne weather is terrible.. and it would have been nice to have a short break for a week or so with hot weather, cheap food and beaches!

  • Reading these deals makes me even more depressed about flights from Mt Isa. $349 minimum one way to Brisbane :(

  • $443 return from Sydney with plenty of flights in August is pretty good too.

  • Where the crap is Sydney in all of this?

    • Popular departure point probably. Darwin and Perth around 3 hours to Bali, maybe fuel is cheaper also? Adelaide is in launch phase too i think.

    • Welcome to Perth's point of view for deals to the US!

An Australian dies in Bali every 9 days.

How many die when they don't hire motorbikes, take drugs or dive off cliffs?

Great place with lovely people, if you avoid the obvious bogan areas.

    • Yeah i'm sure they say the same thing about Thailand. While I was there I saw quite a few people who appeared to have suffered serious scrapes etc from renting motorbikes.

The people who risk doing these things (when insurance doesn't generally cover any of it) are often the ones who die in horrible accidents.

  • Another sensational deal from TA. Heading for the 1000 deals mark!! A word of warning to purchasers, if arrival time back in Australia is critical. Jetstar has an extremely bad record of arriving late in AUST from Bali.

  • Amazing deal!
How much does is cost to add checked baggage, as this deal doesn't include any checked baggage?

(I can't get on the site from work at the moment or I'd check myself)

    • (I can't get on the site from work at the moment or I'd check myself)

I think its about 30-50 each way but not 100% as I am at home and can't check that site.

  • I am not able to see Darwin in the destinations list when selected Perth as Origin
    Did anybody see this?

    • Thats because Jetstar don't fly from Perth to Darwin.

      The deal is PER-DPS, DRW-DPS etc :)

      • ahhhhh .. thanks for the info :)

  • Thanks TA, I secured return trip, Perth to Bali for 2 adults and 2 kids for $512.50. That's $128 each! The only bummer, is the freaking extras like credit card surcharge and baggage charge being added on, but there are ways around both.

    • Yeah just pay with bank deposit :)

How can you get around the baggage charge?

      • We're only going for 4 days. You'd be surprised what you can fit in the 10KG on board limit. We will probably take one large bag also and pay only one baggage charge.

        • Ah yes, makes sense :)

        • Sneaky buggers…when I booked the flight, 20kg bag limit cost $28/each way, but there was only an option for everyone or no one. I booked the flight with no bag limit, expecting to add on one bag for $28/each way. When I logged in to arrange this, the cost was $45/each way. I guess in hind sight, I should have put one of us on a separate booking, so that we could select one bag for this person. I'll know for next time.

  • The big comment that people keep reiterating is:
An australian dies every 9 days in Bali.

However what are the stats for:
An Balinese dies every 9 days in Australia?

Why would you even go to a country which doesn't welcome us anymore?
    http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/travel/world/australians-asked…

    • If you think that article says 'doesn't welcome us' then you need to work on your comprehension skills

  • Cheapest I can find from Adelaide is $239 depart plus $168 Return = $407 (not $237)

  • Cheapest I can find from PERTH is $149 depart plus $168 Return = 407……….
