Wii U Skylanders Pack w/ Nintendo Land + Mario Kart 8 (with Free DL Game) $269 @ Target 31/5

1200

Spotted at Target Highpoint.

Wii U Basic 8GB + Skylanders + Nintendo Land + Mario Kart 8 (presumably with free DL game), starts 31/05. This is all for $269, which is $10 cheaper than the EB Games deal, plus you're guaranteed Nintendo Land.

This advertisement was spotted inside the store, but doesn't appear to be anywhere on the catalogue or online. (I've already bought my Wii U from EB Games…)

Update: As confirmed by others in the comments, this is most likely Australia-wide, i.e. if the bundle isn't advertised at your local Target, purchasing the Skylanders bundle (the advertised $259 bundle) + Mario Kart 8 will make the Mario Kart 8 show up as $10.

  • I got the last one from Castle Hill. I am tossing between Zelda, Super Mario or Donkey Kong for the free game? Any recommendation?

    • I dont think Donkey Kong is part of that list.

"The 10 Wii U games featuring in the Mario Kart 8 Bonus Game Promotion are:

      Nintendo Land
      New Super Mario Bros. U
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U version)
      GAME & WARIO
      Pikmin 3
      The Wonderful 101
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
Sonic Lost World (Wii U version)
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games
      Wii Party U"

      I picked Zelda though.

    • Got me excited when you said donkey kong i didnt think i saw that.

I did think there was a super smash brothers though and when i read t&cs i was a little bit sad lol

  • Wondering where any Adelaidians managed to pick up this bundle? I tried the Unley, Castle Plaza and Rundle Mall stores to no avail.

    • I picked mine up at Fulham gardens. Apparently the last one in stock.

    • got mine at unley on the way to work at about ~8:10am sat, guy said they had like 3 units…

Convinced my wife on the weekend that this was a good deal and we went out and picked it up. Had to call around at a few Target's as the first one had sold out, and the second one had no idea what on earth I was talking about. Thankfully the third one had it in stock and put it aside for me. This was at Mawson Lakes for anyone in Adelaide who's interested, that Target isn't all that busy so they may have had some left in stock.

Definitely beats the EB games deal anyway with the inclusion of Nintendo Land, not a bad way to bolster the start of a Wii U library. Excellent deal, even if you don't really like things like Skylanders.

+one for convincing your wife and lucky you at least your wife is willing to listen to you.

Called up my local & they said there were only 3 in stock & sold out opening hours on Sat. Had plenty of MK8 though.

Oh well, at least I tried. Good thing is I saved myself $269, still in pocket.

Not gonna bother with the EB one online as its highly likely they will ship separate boxed items w/o Nintendoland unless they use ship the bundle ver. Anyone care to test this theory & report back which one they got?

Next order of business: Get my hands on a bundle better than this one in EOFYS sales.

    • Big W pulled their wii u skylanders bundle from the online search but the Direct Link is still up so I'm hoping for an in store bundle offer from them.

Also EB said the bundle price will remain until end of the month so hopefully when my local store restocks they will get the wii u skylanders version in.

Yeah, part of me is sad I missed out on sale of the century. The other part of me is glad I saved $269. If I'm being honest, there wasn't going to be much for me to play on it until Zelda comes. I want to play WW HD, but in reality I have a massive backlog as it is, and I'm unlikely to replay a game I've already 100% beaten 11 years ago.

    • @ grab_ur_freebies

Shame you missed out. Hopefully, you do get a better bundle.

That said, not counting the half price Dick Smith Nintendo Fire Sale, this Wii U Console Bundle has the best bang for buck that I have seen for a while. Thankful to have got one.

      Thanks again to OP.

  • What game is everyone downloading for free?

New Super Mario Bros U. It was a toss-up between that, Zelda and Pikmin 3 but ultimately I already own Zelda on the Gamecube and have finished it multiple times and Pikmin 3 I only really wanted for the battle mode.

        Y U NO GET WONDERFUL 101!?

        • I wanted a game with main story co-op

        • Oh… Well that's entirely reasonable!

    • Pikmin 3, NSMB U and Wonderful 101 are the final three I am going to choose from.

I look at metacritic for both the critics and user feedback and howlongtobeat.com website in terms of gameplay hours.

  • Got at EB Highpoint today same as Target deal with Nintendoland in the box for $280

  • If your in Brisbane Capalaba had stock of both console and game this afternoon or Forest lake had plenty of the game in if you can find the console pack elsewhere.

I spent half an hour in Mt Gravatt store with the manager trying to tell me "just because its on the internet doesn't mean its real" and "sorry theres nothing we can do" to every question I asked. I eventually talked a nice lad into just scanning the console and the last game he had in lay-by just to see if the price came down and it dropped the mario kart to $10 as it should, but the manager still wanted to try deny it all because she didnt know about it it wasn't real as far as she was concerned.

I ended up just purchasing the console from mt gravatt and drove to forest lake on my way home, explained the situation and within 5 minutes had the console "returned" and re-purchased with their MK and bundle price. Dont expect to get anything out of Ms Mt Gravatt without her reacting like your asking her to cut off her own arm though.

    • +1

Lol why did you buy the console from Mt Grav anyway? Should've just told her off and walked out, she obviously thinks too highly of herself.

      • Thats one way to ensure you got your hands on/guaranteed one, but that was a big hoop you had to jump through & it could of went either way.

      • Mt gravatt was the only store with the console at left at the time, apart from Capalaba every other store only had the game or nothing left. For the sake of saving $48 odd on MK8 I wasnt going to spend 1.5 hrs driving to capalaba and back in peak hour traffic, didnt end up having to pay full price for it anyway however.

Im too old to bother being rude back to people these days it achieves nothing. If I was buying it just for myself I wouldn't have bothered after her first little attitude spit and just walked out, however its a present for my step daughters bday this week so as much as I didnt want to I purchased the console there.

Hopefully as I refunded and repurchased the console at another store Mt Gravatt at least wont see my money, least thats what I like to tell myself :D

The Wii U Pro controller is awesome by the way if anyone is wondering. Battery life lasts ages too

    • You can also turn on and off the Wii U console with this remote

  • Been told it's unlikely to be restocked again. Oh well.

I guess we'll see if any further deals happen. I really liked the look of the white console as opposed to the 32GB black one. I wish you could choose your capacity without the colour changing with it. Would like a white one in 32GB. Well ideally, I'd like a white one with a 500GB HDD inside it, but maybe next console Nintendo?

In 2020 when the next consoles are due I'm going to guess MS and Sony will have big 2TB+ SSDs (or whatever even more advanced tech replaces the SSDs) in them, while Nintendo might give us a 500GB HDD.

    • Just get the JBHIFI deal for $279, it's what I got because my local Target had sold out

      • I'm going to wait and see what Nintendo does at e3. I doubt this is the end of Wii U deals. That console still needs help. If nothing, I expect some deals late in the year.

        • I dunno man, I think Nintendo is using this to garner interest into Wii U's, hence the bundles. Smash and MK are really their flagship titles on Wii U (perhaps Zelda too). Not sure how much better value you can get, esp if you want to play them I wouldn't wait. Ofc I may be wrong. But I still haven't been able to pick up a 3DS/XL cause I thought there would be a better deal later down the track, hoping for a deal with Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire though :P

        • One sale is hardly garnering the interest of gamers. The value doesn't have to get better, it just has to become the norm to undercut MS and Sony. Even if they sell them for a loss, they will make a lot back on first party game sales.

If I could have picked one up during this sale I would have, but none around me had stock. It's lost money on Nintendo's behalf as I would have surely bought a few first party games over the next few months.

If I could have picked one up during this sale I would have, but none around me had stock.

Just get one from the EB deal. Very good chance early orders ship bundle stock & incl. Nintendoland. $16 more than Target deal.

        • I probably spent $16 in fuel driving around looking for one already :(

        • Don't wait too long or you will miss out on Mario kart bonus deal. Unless of course you already have Mario kart game :)

      • Just get the JBHIFI deal for $279, it's what I got because my local Target had sold out.

Did you mean you pricematched the target one at JB or you bought the EB one?

  • JB chadstone won't pricematch. FYI.

Walked into a couple of EBs and noticed that they had a few Wii goodies on sale/clearance for $4 ea:

Wii U gamepad dock + wiimote battery

Wiimote battery + usb charging cable

  • Thanks OP!

  • My Skylanders pack sold for $22 on Ebay, so all up the Wii U with MK8 & Nintendo land cost me $233. Pretty good console for that price.

    • +1

How did you pay $255 for it?

      • Mycoles card %5 off.

  • There is one more bundle left at Fulham gardens

  • Picked mine up from EB as my local Target sold out in the first day :/

Put my name down for a rain check last Saturday at Target Doncaster. Sulked for a week and 'almost' gave up hope… then got a call two days ago that it's ready for pickup! Thanks OP!

    • +1

Wow … they were pretty rude to me at the Target Doncaster … and just said sold out … too late.

      • A friend just cancelled a hold on the same bundle. If you are still interested, may be worthwhile to give them a call. Target Doncaster 9848 0800.

  • Bought a AC powered Seagate 2TB for $90 (CBF looking for a cheaper one/smaller capacity, went with the "recommended" hard drive from Nintendo).

$279 for a Wii Basic Bundle and 3 games + 1 download game.

    All up $369. Excellent value.

    Now to download NSMB U.

Target Chatswood just called me telling me that 6 of these bundles just came in. I've already got one elsewhere so at least one of them is back on the shelf there.

Just got mine at Target Knox! Downloading the updates now and will then install Pikmin 3.
