Looks like Telstra no longer sale these at $10 anymore.

  • Updated deal with Telstra 3G USB…

  • Can the $30 prepaid starter kit be have its $30 value used for Google Play purchases?

    On an existing prepaid number?

    • I would also like to know whether these can be used for Google Play purchases

    • yeah, you can use $29 for google play purchases, or $30 if using it as a new prepaid service

      • Why $29 and not the full $30?

        • +1

Costs you 25 cents each time you transfer credit. You can transfer in $1 increments up to $10. So after you transfer the first two lots of $10, you only have $9.50 left to transfer. Max increment you can then transfer is $9. So there's your $29

Right, I misread OP's second question because I use the full $30 every time. Why would you even need to transfer to another number if all you're going to do is purchase from the play store? You'd just be wasting credit.

        • What about if you have subscriptions such as magazines or Google music all access ? Are they easy to transfer to a new prepaid number? I always just kept the same number and transferred credit to it, but if they are easy to swap I might do so.

        • I'm certain play music isn't linked to a number, only your google account. Every 3 months I open a new sim pack for that sole reason.

Transferring credit across sounds like a pain.

  • Telstra/ Woolies are probably testing the waters to see if people will pay $20…supply and demand..

there for we boycott…… 4 months time they will be back to $10

    • +3

Yep, that's why nobody should buy these ones.

    • actually the $10 deals seem long gone and $15 was the new floor. $20 may b as good as it gets from telstra. they seem to be scaling back the big discounts to grab customers. i always laughed when stockbroker analysts were impressed at the huge amount of telstra new signups not knowing that most were just temp users for a month.

      • It's only been 3 months since last $10 deal - there were longer gaps in deals last year.

  • the last one I bought from Coles for $15 I forgot to use before the 6 month long life!

    • :( didn't you check expiry before buying? must have been old stock - usually at least a year

  • at $20 still better than paying face value. but definitely agree paying $10 trumps paying $20.

  • Can I buy the 3G MBB pack and activate as an ipad sim? Would almost be cheaper to throw away the modem once the credit is expired if you could

    • I wouldn't see why not can you set you Ipad apn?

      • I was hoping that the sim card inside the MBB pack would get me 3gb if I activated as an ipad sim. Otherwise it is cheaper dollar for dollar to get the $20 starter kit.
