Acutally, this is really tempting - I wonder if it will get much cheaper when the 3 comes out

  • +2

I want this!! but shipping to WA is $34.99. Its ridiculously expensive!!!!

  • +6

16GB and no expandable storage is a bit of a deal breaker, can't complain too loud considering the price

  • +1

Got the 3G version last year from Kogan, black and white. Very good phone and this is an awesome price. Only had issue with the white phone where it takes alot longer to pick up a signal. Think alot of people have this issue.

    • +27

      Seems rather racist.

      • colour based issue.. really?

        • +3

The Asian model 3.5G is missing a lot of the Australian 3G Bands, so may not be the most reliable signal wise.

      • +11

probably black model has a bigger antenna.

  • +2

    Best phone ever !

    No signal problems here…

  • +1

Loved this phone until i dropped it. One hairline fracture across the screen and its unusable. $220 to fix! I strongly recommend using a flip case.

    • Hairline fracture!!

    • The aussie version comes with a free case.

      • Does it? That could get me over the line here…

        Very tempted.

      • +1

I dropped mine from about 1m high and the screen cracked badly, even with the case on, so I wouldn't rely on the free case.

On a side note, I replaced the screen and then my puppy had a chew on it and cracked the screen again. Anyone know if the Nokia 3310s are still for sale…?

        • +6

Nokia 3310? For your puppy or you to chew?

        • Haha yes, for my puppy to chew! I never had any problems with the old brick phones :)

        • the puppy's gonna take the calls while Mr Unique chews bricks

  • +1

Considering the 32GB version could have been had a week ago for $430 mark (inc. $50 cashback from LG), I think this deal is pretty average (especially when postage is factored in). Kicking myself that I didnt buy last week :(

    • +4

Whole heartedly agree, not sure if the AU version was 4G LTE though. But considering that $45.98 for delivery to Sydney Metro, I mean the worth is up to the buyer. Have bought grey import before, but local AU stock gives more security with 1 year longer warranty and ease of communication with retailers if there are issues.

      • +1

Wait, how come your +2 and im -5 !

        • -1

because you neg the deal. and its un-justified.

        • +1

Ok - whats the etiquette then? Dont you neg a deal if its not actually a good deal?

        • +2

If its not actually a good deal, I usually go with a 'No Vote'.

Referring to the Voting Guidelines, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

          Negative Vote

Purpose: To let others know about issues with the deal, merchant or product.

          Appropriate uses of negative vote

Cheaper price elsewhere. Mention store or URL and price making sure to include shipping.

        • +1

haha well you're neutral now :P Yeh pay attention to negging guidelines, also this community can be harsh sometimes for unjustified reasons, so don't take too much heart to you vote count :)

        • +2

Ok, so in the spirit of being verbose, here is my problem with the deal:

          1. Kogan has this for $379 + Shipping (Lets say $25 avg. shipping price) so total is $404. Not to bad so far.
          2. As grey import, warranty is only 1 year. Kogan sells 3 year warranty for $69, which really means 2 years extra. So ~$35 per extra year. This takes the comparison to local stock to $439.

Wow, this is starting to look bad. Not GOT red wedding bad, more like Darth Vadar is your father bad.

          This deal has the 16GB for $426.60 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/144305

This deal has the 32gb for $467 -https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146508

*Granted these prices are now in conjunction with a now expired LG cashback offer.

If you also want to factor in the general malaise that can be Kogan customer service, I think this deal is pretty neg worthy. Not to mention that the G2 doesnt have a mSD slot, so 16gb aint alot for all those pretty selfies….

  • Stella is-the-girl!!!

  • +1

Just got one for the Girl Friend…

    Hope she likes red lol..

  • Great phone…. really good!

  • heard it's about the same sepc with better camera compare to Nexus 5.

    Nice bargain.

    • I've been researching this lately, also has a larger 3000MaH and a somewhat nicer screen (although i cant really tell the difference).. also the Nexus has the buttons on the side vs at the back for this one. Full review on the difference can be found here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXqDCsxCkz8

      • I've been tossing up upgrading my N4 to this, seeing as they are so cheap now. Other option is N5 as poster states. I like being 1 year behind the latest phone trends - saves you 300+ bucks
The other key difference between G2 and N5 is tap to unlock (a feature I really like - G2 only) and wireless charging (N5 only). I understand the non-international G2 has wireless charging, dont think we ever see them though.

        • If you're willing to flash custom ROMs + kernels (not for everyone), the knock knock feature is available on the Nexus 5 too.

      • The extra battery life is desirable. The G2 camera is also 13mp as opposed to 8mp of the N5 but it's questionable how that translates to photo quality. I think a grey import G2 for $379 + shipping is a great buy.

        No bias, I own a N5.

  • Is this actually true?

    • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac

Since on the LG Site they state only:

    • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n

Not that it really makes much difference but just curious about Kogan's validatity on some of their descriptions..

  • +4

As a public service - update to 4.4.2 and then factory reset. We got a heap for work and are having battery life woes after the upgrade, factory reset is resolving the issue.

  • Hi guys,

is this a better deal?? Have no experience with Topbuy so not sure if they are reliable

    http://www.topbuy.com.au/catalog/product/view/id/81250?

    • +4

      Not reliable.

      • 3yrs back, I bought a camera(FZ100) from TopBuy..no issues

      • +3

Kogan have a similar disgruntled customer base out there. Top Buy probably have a slightly worse one… but neither are really considered customer satisfaction darlings.

    • +6

Topbuy are sneaky/dodgy/shady/sketchy they add a none removable $15 Insurance charge to your order that's onto of your $26 flat rate postage

  • Why are all these good phone deals coming up, but never in black!

  • should I get this now or wait for OnePlus?

    • +1

Does anyone even have an ETA for the OnePlus or is it just waiting indefinitely for something that may or may not be released?

      • theres no ETA….
just the cr@p invite system, with AU not even listed on it.

i'm guessing it'll be at least till end of the year till we can order it.

  • Just puled the trigger on this one!
    Thanks much!

  • The deal is ok, if they offered free postage i would bite asap.

  • +1

is the red slightly… girly ?
I want one but dunno bout red..

    • +1

      Duh red is faster!

      • +2

        ok bought one.

  • Even if Kogan offers free postage, it doesn't mean you will get free postage. Kogan has recently published a multi-page list of postcodes for which free postage is not available when an item's headline says "free postage". Kogan claims these postcodes attract some kind of remote area surcharge and he cannot offer free postage to these. Some of the postcodes are indeed those of some remote areas of Australia but others are in what would be considered metro areas or large country centres. This appears discriminatory to me as the likes of Dick Smith, Officeworks, BigW, Bing Lee, Good Guys etc. do not engage in such practices, so why Kogan?

I have unsubscribed from Kogan's emails and will not buy from him again until he changes his business model.

  • Hi Guys,
any recommended case for this phone?

  • G2 or Nexus 5, Which one should i choose?

    Many thanks!

    • G2 for better
      - camera
      - battery

    • …delete my post

  • Given Kogan is effectively grey import, isn't this a better deal… $405 delivered for the 32GB version in black or white.

    http://www.t-dimension.com/revamp/-c-0/lg-g2-black-32gb-d802…

To deliver to Perth this Kogan deal is $414 and is only the 16GB version (and only the red version).
