Not sure how they do free 2GB RAM upgrade, as it has 512MB soldered in — so you either get 1.5GB or 2.5GB (hopefully the later).

Sounds like the latter - if you click on the RAM dropdown under available options the last listed item says "2.5GB DDR2 (1x2G + 1x512M) - only 2GB detected"

      • The NSW Department of Education customised model S10e has 2GB.

Perhaps the 512MB is disabled when a 2GB stick is inserted. Though their model uses Windows 7 RC currently!!!

  • My US model came with 1GB pre-installed. So there might be options for 2GB as well.

  • Get the warranty upgrade on this model ;)

    • Why so Mikinoz?
      Is there a problem history??

i have had approx(maybe more)4 service calls in 3 months and this machine is still unreliable gets hot and shuts down after 4 hours light use , would recommend the asus or msi which i am buying when i sell this heap!

I am an ex IBM thinkpad tech ! and this is only my opinion on a s10 which is 99% the s10e

windows 7 runs well on this netbook if you have 2gb although doesnt help the problems :)

        Hope that helps

Ps i pushed and got a 2 year warranty because of this

  • Wouldn't now be a good time to hold back and wait for Windows 7 netbooks ?

i do not quite understand why this post has not generated a lot of interest.
it is a VERY GOOD price for a Lenovo netbook with 2GB of RAM.
they have a new model 10-2 but the difference is minimal.

    • Crap laptop maybe :)

  • it is not a laptop it is a netbook.
check the specs - you'll see it is not a crappy one.

  • Its now $535 now but the shipping is not free :-(
    Good if your in Sydney
