As a dad of a 16 year old who's on his L plate currently, I thought this would be useful.

But in reality, I'm most likely going to be present when he's driving (or learning to drive) and I'm already a paid member so not sure if / how it would be used.

Maybe useful for parents of teenagers who aren't already members so you get the benefits if the family car breaks down when they're with you ?

It'll be good for when he gets his P plates (and freedom) ;).

Beware that the free towing is only 8km though as pointed out in the post. Depending on driving habits, it might only get you halfway home. :P

    • I see $$$ here!

Money making opportunity for you guys. Pimp Rent out his services as a passanger to those you know without memberships and sh!!ty cars!

      But in reality ………

If there's any chance he'll be driving any vehicle other than yours in the next 4 years, it's worthwhile. To maximise the benefit of it though, in your circumstances I'd leave it until just before he turns 17 so as to still get the full two years free.

By joining up this way, he won't have to pay a joining fee.

Its not expired, its perpetual… Hence why you're still posting it…

        • It wasn't posted any time recently, so it's well within the rules for it to be posted again.

I had this when I first got my licence in 2007 and have been a member ever since. For the cost of it, RACQ is one of the most important subscriptions I have IMO.

  • Important to note that you'll be spammed with snail mail from them for years to come.
