    No GPU option?. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

  • What about the w110er?

    • Unfortunately that one is about as cheap as it's going to get. It's actually still at the reduced price from a previous Ozbargain deal!

      • -1

This is not as cheap as the last deal where you could get it for $750. Kinda disappointing really.

As feedback, the terms of your voucher are deceptive to me, when I checked there was no where to find out which models it applied to. The voucher is accepted at checkout for the w110er. Imagine the disappointmet if you customer was expecting the 240gb ssd.

Your comment in the other thread about the voucher was also not very clear on which models it applied to.

All a bit disappointing and not up to the high standards you have demonstrated elsewhere in this thread.

  • +4

Can't believe my luck… Bought this not even a week ago at $100 more expensive!!! Just lost a day's pay :(!

    • +135

        • Yeah good work rep :)

  • Hey op, which is the best compromise between gaming graphics, weight and battery and what kinda deal can you do? Thanks

    Thanks.

    • +6

      Yup,

It's just been reduced $100 today.

  • My son paid for your last laptop deal 6 weeks ago … still hasn't got his laptop …

    • +3

Yes we had an unacceptable delay on this model due to high demand at the factory. We have received the notebooks and are nearly complete with the orders.

Unfortunately it was a pre-order to begin with which made the lead time long to begin with, now it is also overdue.

As this model is in stock the lead time is only around 15 business days approximately.

      • -7

Any chance you can throw in the laptop bag for us too? :-)

        • +1

what's wrong with asking for a freebie after prolonged delay of a paid order?

        • +8

You preordered something mate. You can't expect free crap after being told you're going to have to wait for the product to be released.

        • -4

Yes, I agree if it's just pre-order and release is delayed. That is acceptable because it's out of the re-seller's control.
But Jack's reply was high demand at the factory. Which indicates the vendor or the factory did not manage their order carefully?

        • Unfortunately it was a pre-order to begin with which made the lead time long to begin with, now it is also overdue.

          Reread that line.

  • From a gaming and heat perspective, is the Horize P150SM better than Horize W355SS?
P150SM is about $300 more, but you get a GTX 870m instead of GTX 860m.

    Thanks.

    • +2

      Welcome.

The P150SM is absolutely more designed for gaming. It runs an independent fan for the CPU and another for the GPU. The heatsinks are very large also.

The other added advantage is that the P150SM can have it's graphics upgraded later. We still have customers that had one of the earlier models from 3 years ago still buying graphics card upgrades instead of a whole new machine. It works out well because CPU power isn't that much better than the old one.

      • Thanks Jack!

  • Website is down?

    • Seems like it.

    • +1

Under high load. Because of the way our product options work on the site every time you open a new model it has to generate new attributes. So if we have more than 1000 people on the site it pretty much kills our server. And it's a fast dedicated machine. The more you know.

      • +3

Make sure you are not running Apache with prefork mpm where every correction spawn a new process…

        • +16

I know some of those words….. I'll pass it on to the developer. Thanks!

        • +7

          Apache is a helicopter… Right? :P

        • +3

NO… pfft you know nothing… its tribe of native indians from north america… loll :P

        • +1

Hahaha, both of you are wrong! It's a kind of clothing, like Red Hat!

  • site doesn't even load

    • +2

Yeah it's been ozbargained now. Just giving it a reboot. Should be up now.

  • +1

    It's down,

found a review of a similar model here for those looking - http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Nexoc-B509II-Ultra-Clevo…

    edit: website back up,

  • +1

I have the Ivy Bridge version of this and can vouch for the quality of the laptop. My experience with the 8 cell battery would be unless you are doing some serious power saving you're more likely to get 3-4 hours (although Haswell will improve this somewhat).

    • +1

Yes, i'd say you are spot on there. I use the Ivy Bridge version also and get maybe 5 hours watching a DVD or something. To get it further than this you would have to be very conservative with power.

  • Hi Jackkel,

I quite literally bought this model off the site yesterday at 2:30 in the afternoon. Any chance I can cancel and re-order…? Help me out :)

    • +9

I can't really do that as we would have to do a restocking fee. I know it's ridiculous but that's the policy. What I can do as I did for the customer above is give you a free Horize Koshka backpack worth $89.95. Just PM me your order number and i'll apply it.

      • +3

Thanks OP, that's fair enough. I'll PM it through. As always, love the deals and the sweet sweet laptops.

  • Does anyone know how good the battery life on this laptop is? I don't really know much about laptops and want to use this for uni. thoughts?

    • +1

It would be fine for a good 5 hours or so as long as you aren't doing anything too intensive. If you are just taking notes I would power down the wireless and the screen brightness (it's a very bright panel anyway) and you could get 6 hours. Alternatively get a spare battery.

  • Does this model have back-lit keys?

    • No sorry, no backlit keys.

The cheapest model with backlit keys is the W355SS

      • Buy a USB powered LED lamp someplace like dx.com

  • Anyone think there is gtx860 is OK for 4k gaming ? Considering getting the one that is also potentially portable and hooking it up to a kogan (or other) TV for 4k 3d gaming… Much difference between 860 870 and 880 you guys reckon ? Choices choices

    • +3

Huge difference in performance. You are talking a huge screen resolution. If you want to play comfortably i'd be going with the 880 card for sure.

    • +2

no laptop is okay for 4k gaming, older game doesnt support 4k and you wont enjoy the benefit of 4k for later games on a laptop. i'd say even a high end desktop is struggling with 4k gaming, you want more pixels and you lower other settings to make it playable. that just give you a more clear image of poor details. better wait for a 4k ready gaming console in future.

  • Hi rep,

You mention 15 business days build time, when would you expect an order to arrive in Brisbane if ordered today?

I'm looking for a laptop by early July.

    • That shouldn't be an issue. As long as you get ordering soon prior to selling out and having to wait for a backorder.

      • Thanks rep - ordered last night! Hope to see it soon!

  • What are peoples thought on this as a computer for Full HD video editing?

    • I would add-on the core i7 for an extra $149.

      • In terms of value I was thinking of getting the Toshiba Kira https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147676 I understand that's an Ultrabook what are people thoughts now that this deal is available?

        • In terms of PassMark, i7-4500U vs i5-4330M — the mobile i5 seems to be faster than the ULV i7, so in theory this would be faster than Toshiba Kira.

        • I would say much faster ulv is terrible for high performance. If your goal is CPU intensive yes I recommend either the i5 or i7 options on this model.

  • Rep. For the second hard drive bay, is it easy to install another SSD myself? Will it void the warranty? Thanks.

    • +1

Easy access and 2.5 inch standard slot. Very easy and no won't void warranty

  • Hi rep,
A friend of mine is looking for a lightweight laptop for uni. Preferably an i5 with ssd but not much more is needed. What's the cheapest thing you have to suit this category?

    • That would be this deal!!

      • 2kg is a bit heavy and 15" a tad on the large side. Anything closer to 1.5kg in a smaller form factor? The specs on this machine do seem pretty ideal though

  • -1

    the graphics kills it…

    • +2

Sure well we have many more models available with high performance graphics

  • Hey! Not a big computer person, was just wondering how this Laptop will handle games like DotA2 and League of Legends, sorry if you don't know what they are.

Another question. What is the projected life expectancy of this laptop? Eg. Before it becomes loud, and battery life becomes much shorter etc..

Sorry if I'm having doubts. Thanks in advance!

    • +1

I think it will be a bit limited for those games at 1080p maybe look at the w110er or a w650 something like this for a smooth gameplay

  • +7

Hey Rep, just wanted to say, you guys are awesome! 10/10 customer service, would buy again.

    • +4

      Shucks thanks so much :)

  • Need a laptop with a long battery life, 8gigs or more ram, SSD and can run virtual box. Graphics card not an issue as wont be playing games. Any suggestions?

    • This would suit you perfectly except maybe battery life. It's hard to say with your requirements but 5 hours no problem. For virtual machines always always get a full scale i5 or i7 no ulvs!!

    • This laptop + spare battery would be very cost effective.

  • Hi Jack,
Do you think that the AMD Radeon M290X 4.0GB is worth the extra $?
    Thanks.

    • Over say a 870? My word yes. Also amd have really stepped up their game in driver support would totally recommend.

      • Thanks. Yeah, its an extra $140 over the GTX870M.
OK. I will think about it.

      • The reviews tends to be a bit bias towards Nvidia?

        http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-M290X-vs-GeForce-GTX-870M
        Same with notebookcheck.com

        • Always are. I would still swing towards the AMD card.

  • Does the second hard drive spot hold a 7mm or 9mm SSD? This may be useful for those who bought the Intel SSD on Ozbargain too! Thanks

    • 9mm so it can do either size.

  • Rep, for screen quality, this is better or w355ss with 95% gamut screen?

    • Technically this model with the IPS display is superior.

  • For rep or anyone who's used this model,
How's the screen quality - any common IPS issues like ghosting or light bleed? Mostly I'm just interested in whether this is a good screen to watch movies on…

    • Sure light bleed can be an issue on some of the IPS panels. We try and watch out for that when running our pixel tests and we will replace the panel if the bleeding is bad. Yes absolutely I use my model to watch movies on and it's perfect. ( I have the older model).

      • Thanks for the info, good to hear about your quality control. If you don't mind, I have a couple more questions:
How loud is the fan during movies/browsing?
What's the quality like on the keyboard/touchpad? I'm a bit worried about this aspect, I've read that they might not be the greatest.

        • The fan for movies and browsing shouldn't be heard, or barely. As this doesn't have a discrete GPU it handles noise much better.

The keyboards and touchpad are fine. I wouldn't rate it as the best available, but still good.

        • Thanks again, really appreciate your replies. Some final questions if you're still around:
How's the motion clarity of the screen? Do movies play completely smoothly, or is there some ghosting? Sounds like this could be a weakness of IPS tech.
And does the matte finish affect the richness/depth of the color a lot, or does the power of IPS balance that out?

      • Does that mean it's no good for graphics/video work? Is it high gamut if it's IPS?

  • Im looking for;
    + backlit keys
    +1080P min rez
    +touch screen for win8x
+slim as possible with gaming gfx & SSD

    what am i looking for?

    • Touch screen and gaming don't really go hand in hand. I really don't have anything to offer you sorry.
If you can live without the touch panel maybe look at the P150SM model.

  • Product no longer available?
