  • Just received my order. They sent me 30pk of AAA alkaline batteries instead of the LSD AA batteries. Their phone support is horrible, keeps sending me to startrek express.

    • What number did you get through on? I cant get through at all.
Wait, WUT? You ordered 30 packets of AAs ???
You gonna run your house off batteries or something?

      • I ordered 10 LSD AA batteries and received only 1 today. Called 1300 366 644 and was on hold for nearly 30 minutes. I was told that they would call me today with an update…

      • Ordered 7 pk of LSD AA batteries, and 8 AAA batteries. They sent 30pk of AAA batteries.

        • Strange!
I got a huge box with a single packet of AA rechargeables so st least I have seen them. No idea what happening with the rest of my order.

    • I ordered a mix of batteries, about 5 packs in total. My invoice shows they are only sending out two 9v batteries.

Everything else was deleted from my order. Idiots. Obviously I don't want to pay postage on such a small order.

      • Yeah my invoice is a mess too. It shows different amounts on different versions for a mix of batteries. I really have no idea what is coming other than they have shipped "something"

  • So far out of my orders i've only received one packet of 8 AA alkaline batteries. Rest still hadn't been shipped. I did order 7 LSD AA NiMH packs, two packs of 30-piece AAA alkaline and of course the pack of 8 AA alkaline batteries. Had to spend the rest of the budget on a NiMH battery charger.

  • they shipped me 1 pack of $1.30 AAA batteries via star track express. what a waste of time. makes me think the AAs may not be fulfilled

    • +1

And what were you supposed to get?.

    • Well they have re-listed them on their eBay page (may not mean anything as they seem completely disorganized)

      • Yes the 4-piece AA LSD mysteriously suddenly went back in stock on the Dick Smith online site this morning too just after the sale ended. Slightly suspicious to have it go out of stock but suddenly back in stock just after the sale ends.

  • This is true Dick Smith style… I never believe that Dick is truly out of stock unless a product is EOL.

  • Just got a shipment email that my 2 x 30piece AAA alkaline has been shipped but no AA LSD batteries yet. Can't believe Dick Smith is now selling those 30piece AAA alkaline packs for $29.98 each.

    • We need to call up to find out if they actually have any stock.
I have tried a couple of times but cant get through to a human.

  • I got shipping notification for my LSDs.

  • My Ebay order hasn't been shipped yet.

  • My order for AA NIMH lSD rechargables arrived as expected this morning. Correct number and type of batteries included so not all hope is lost for those who ordered. Just wish I was able to add some AAA's onto my order when they went on sale.

  • i've been shafted. i've received 5 packs of 2200mah lsd batteries and 3 packs of non-lsd 2200mah dse nimh batteries. and the packaging on most of the packs was falling apart.

edit: i see on the address label that it came from a local dick smith store which suggests that orders might be coming from different stores

    • Right my order included one pack of LSD AA's and it came from Albury (live in Melbs) so they might be using stores to fulfil

      • My 40/AA and 30/AAA packs just arrived from DSE Bendigo nicely packed.

        Awaiting 8/C packs.

I can't see any dates on the packaging or cells.

  • I had mine coming from Darwin!!! I had a few of my orders fufilled by local stores as well.

  • +1

Still waiting on my AA LSD batteries no shipping email. Order history just shows awaiting fulfilment. I only ordered 7 packs.

Wouldn't surprise me if Dick Smith over sold. I mean they just cancelled orders from the Pioneer SE-MJ711 $5 headphone deal because of insufficient stock. I've seen companies with far better stock control systems.

  • I ordered 7 AA LSD packs but just got a shipping email that 6 packs were shipped. Where is my other missing pack i wonder.

  • Ordered "DS LSD Rechargeable NiMH Batteries AA" x8, still saying Awaiting Fulfillment

    • I received a shipping email last friday saying that 6 of my 7 AA LSD NiMH packs were shipped, i'm yet to receive the parcels. Got an email from Dick Smith saying that the 7th pack is on backorder. Going by that if it was backordered then Dick Smith over sold.

  • I got my 4x packs today.

  • I got 6x AA LSD packs today of my 7 ordered. The 7th pack is still on backorder.

  • Found out some thing about these Dick Smith AA LSD 2200mah NiMH batteries. They don't come pre-charged (unlike what the package claims by ready to run) so you must charge them up when you get them. It's also made in China for any one interested. Although for $1.85 per 4 batttery pack who's to complain. Charged well on my new Powertech Plus NiMH 5 hour battery charger from ebay.

    • From the specs:

"shelf life after 12 months: 80%
initial charge capacity at factory: 50%"

      • Well my batteries took the full 5 hour charge so obviously it had no or very little charge out of the packet. There's no way they had 50% charge. They must have lost a lot of their charge since from the factory. Must be really old stock that Dick Smith was selling off.

        • What device did you charge then on? Was it a so called "smart" charger?
Did you attempt any kind of discharge first?

        • I already said i charged on a Powertech Plus NiMH 5 hour battery charger but i doubt it's a smart charger. That's probably the reason. Didn't do any discharge first. I take it you're supposed to discharge from out of the packet first?. I just thought it would charge up from how flat it was.

Any way just inserted one of the new batteries straight out of the packet in my Logitech G700s mouse. Only got 2 bars on the battery level indicator meaning not much power but i was wrong about them not having been precharged. I don't think there's 50% of charge in it lucky if there's even 20%. I guess these batteries do lost a lot of charge since original manufacture. As i think they must be quite old stock.

        • Right you did say, I didn't notice.
Well, if that's a timed charger, it wont stop. It will just charge them for 5 hours or whatever its programmed for, whether they are full or not. If its a smart charger, and measures as it goes, it will stop when the batteries have peaked.
I have one of those Maha 9000s so that can measure discharge and all sorts of other tricks so I will give them a go out of the packet and see what results I get. I'll post back here.
Its absolutely vital we get our $1.85's worth! ;)

        • Battery charger manual says it charges for 5 hours or when the batteries are fully charged then switches over to trickle charge so it may well be a smart charger. I think these batteries out of the packet aren't holding that much power.

I charged 4 batteries and noticed two of the batteries took about 4 and a half hours before finished charge and another two took just about 5 hours. Going by that they didn't hold very much charge from out of packet state. Must be old stock well over a year old that Dick Smith was getting rid of. They could have been manufactured a few years ago. But $1.85 per packet still a good buy. Just going by my experience they need a fair bit of charging from out of packet state.

        • @King Tightarse:

Well all i can say is the Dick Smith AA LSD battery wouldn't even last an hour from out of the packet state in my Logitech G700s mouse before going flat. If it was 50% charged then it would have lasted at least a day. They're not holding much charge from brand new state. I was correct about them having little charge no way they're 50% charged like the specs say. These are obviously very old stock that lost most of its charge since manufactured.

So i suggest charging these batteries up when you get them it does need it.

        • @hollykryten:

Thanks for that. I will keep that in mind when I crack open my pack.

  • DSE sending out eneloops instead?
    Emailed invoice says
    * S 3753 DS R2U NiMH Bat AA 2200mAh 2pk

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/ds-lsd-rechargeable-ni…
could be wrong picture though as its not advertised as eneloop

and yes theyve doubled the quantity ordered because its only a 2pk

    • They have the wrong picture on that site. Description says Dick Smith AA LSD 2200mah 2 pack. Besides there is no Eneloop AA 2200mah battery. You will get Dick Smith batteries.

Makes me wonder why you didn't order the AA LSD 4 pack instead?. I mean it was only $1.85 each.

    • I wouldn't mind an extra 8 packs of eneloops lol

      • Unfortunately not going to happen. All my rechargeable batteries were Dick Smith brand.

    • Same here, however I never thought they would send me eneloop instead, and the 'DS R2U' seems a 'Dick Smith Ready to Use' to me.

      • Nope you were in fact ordering Dick Smith NiMH batteries. Don't rely on the picture of that Eneloop 2 battery pack it's the wrong picture on the page.

  • just received my order 12 packs of ds r2r nimh batt aa 2000mah

    • I believe it's 2200mah

  • Received my order just now, though the ebay order status didn't change to shipped.

  • just realized they ripped me off i order 11 pack x 4pk 2200mah and received 12 x 2pk 2000mah what can i do.?

    • Just check they're not actually Eneloop are they because they do come as 2000mah ?

    • Contact Dick for the wrong quantity. I ordered 10 x 4pk and received 20 x 2pk this morning, so obviously some one made a simple mistake and entered the number 12 instead of 22 (x 2pk).

      • I'm thinking could Dick Smith have shipped the other 12 packs in another parcel shipment that hadn't yet arrived. Some times they do split orders into multiple parcels. I mean i also ordered from this sale 2 x 30pk AAA alkaline and 1 x 8pk AA alkaline in the same order but the 2 x 30pk AAA came in one satchel bag shipment and the 1 x 8pk AA alkaline came in another satchel shipment on another day. Actually the 1 x 8pk AA alkaline batteries arrived first then the 2 x 30pk AAA a few days later.

  • no they are dick smith has it written all over them

  • Ok I rang support they said to go to my local d's and they would fix the order, just got back now all good have my 11x 4 packs now.

    • Are you saying you got another 10 x 2pk or 11x4pk + the shipped 12x2pk in total?

      • no i took the 12 packs of 2 batteries back to a dick smith shop and they gave me the correct 11x4 packs.

  • I originally ordered Dick Smith 7 x 4pk AA 2200mah NiMH. Previously received 6 x 4pk AA 2200mah. Today just arrived 2 x 2pk AA 2000mah. Dick Smith must have run out of the NiMH AA 2200mah batteries in the warehouse even though they're still selling them on the web site. So they're substituting it with the lower 2000mah batteries.

These Dick Smith batteries don't seem to be any where as good as Eneloop 2000mah. Put a fully charged Dick Smith AA NiMH 2200mah in my Logitech G700s mouse yesterday and already the 10% power level warning has come on. Eneloop's last for a few days.

    • what did you charge them in

      • Just a Powertech Plus battery charger nothing special. I might need a better charger. Thinking about a Nitecore Intellicharger i4.

      • I wonder if it's because it was only the first drain on the battery. Do the first drains flatten the quickest?.

  • I have a maha 9000 whats the best way to charge new batteries.

    • I normally charge at 0.5c of the battery capacity i.e. 1000mah I charge at 500mah.

      • I read that you should use the break-in mode on new batteries is that correct.

        • Well I never had on any of my Eneloops or other rechargeables, I normally charge them to full and then a couple of full drains on the devices.

  • Received a refund today out of the blue

What a complete waste of time this has been.

    • Which batteries was the refund for?.

      • All of them.

Didn't receive any, but got a tax invoice.. go figure lol

        • Unlucky. I got all the batteries that i ordered. I did order early.

  • Mine is still awaiting fulfilment.

    • Same. It seems unlikely that we'll ever get it

      • Dick Smith may have run out of batteries.

  • discharged 4 batteries then charged and got the following readings……maha c9000
    2308 mah 1.41v
    2227 mah 1.43v
    2021 mah 1.44v
    2156 mah 1.43v

    • Aren't the AA LSD supposed to be 1.2V batteries?. Are they AA NiMH batteries.

      • it says 1.2v on pack but thats what readings say on maha c9000 any experts on here can explain please.

        • +1

No expert but from experience; they will show 1.4x volts fresh from "afterglow" of the charger but will settle to the voltage their chemistry dictates (1.25v) quite quickly.
Those results are quite promising. They probably need a couple of cycles to stabilise so they may actually show an increase in capacity after a couple of goes. The test will be how limited the limited self discharge is, so that would involve doing a full discharge test after a week, a month etc.

      • From memory its the final charge voltage before the charger teminates the charge.

      • Generally the stated voltages are the average voltage over the life of the battery.

  • ok i just found this

Some chargers like my Maha BC-9000 will try to take a cell to 1.47v but anything in the mid 1.4s will do. Note that the cell voltage will drop a small bit after you take it off the charger. If you measure your cells at 1.3 volts immediately after you remove them from the charger something is wrong. Either your cells, charger or DMM is faulty. Substitute one of those three things (one at a time) to determine where the problem is. If the cells are cheap no-name ones that is what I would change first.

  • I'm quite surprised. Even though my G700s mouse was reporting 10% power level yesterday after a days use the AA LSD NiMH 2200mah battery is still going today. Must be the mouse reporting the charge level incorrectly.

  • charge 20 batteries so far lowest 2021 mah and highest 2458 mah not bad for 2200 mah batteries

  • -1

Thanks OP for taking the time to list the bargain.
Be careful of DS trying to supplement your batteries with a cheaper alternative.
Some people have been receiving disposable batteries, having paid for rechargeables.
I received 2000mah batteries, having paid for 2200mah.

    • Mate ring up online support and complain i ordered 11 packs of 4 2200 mah rechargeable lsd. But received 12 packs of 2 2000 mah . So i rang up support and they rang a store close to me and i went in and swapped for the correct batteries.

      • My nearest store doesn't have the enough stock. Did you get refunded for delivery charges ? Seems like you are picking up the slack from DS.

        • I got mine 11 days ago so maybe thats why.No refund on delivery because i got all my order fixed up in store.

  • +1

    $1.85 on eBay plus $4.95 Delivery -
LSD Rechargeable NiMH Batteries 'AA', 1.2V 2200mAh, 4 pack. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261454136838?ssPageName=STRK:MEWA…

    • whoops

  • LSD Rechargeable NiMH Batteries 'AA', 1.2V 2200mAh, 4 pack.

A month later my order is still 'Awaiting Fulfillment' and having not heard anything from them I thought it best to call and find out WTF is going on. Was told these are on backorder and the ETA is 22nd of October.

Thanks for nothing Dick. Vote revoked!

    • 5 months wait for their own brand of batteries. Poor effort Dick Smith

  • An early Christmas miracle occurred today.

I was awoken by the sound of a postman knocking on my door. In his hand was a package I wasn't expecting, which I excitedly signed for and tore the wrapping off. Inside was 6x4 DS LSD 2200mah AA batteries. Order fulfilled!
