  • Wonder if they are any good? Might buy a pack and test them.

  • No idea about the quality, but that is cheap, even if they aren't great.

only really worth buying if you're getting something else and you're paying (or not above $99) for postage anyway.

    • Yes only 46c a battery. You don't often get NiMH batteries for that price.

  • +1

These are probably on par with the Aldi LSD batteries. Most of the cheaper LSD batteries are good for rotating in devices every 6 months. After a year, the cheaper lsd batteries can lose up to half the charge, i.e. Varta Long Life, Enitime, GP Recyko and so on.

    • But still only $1.85 for 4 batteries. Bargain. Myself i bought 7 packs (28 batteries) at $17.90 delivered.

    • +1

Wow josephchi, you really know your batteries.

    • Do you know which kind of charger should I use with this one

  • +2

cheaper than the fake ones from chinese sites

  • Thanks Op .. bought myself a few packs. I have Aldi ones and they have been going strong in my Braun portable shaver for the past 8 months.

    • +1

The Aldi LSD's 4 pack AAA or AA are only $0.19 more than this in store ($6.99).

      • +5

Yeah but you don't just order 1 pack. If you order multiple packs in the order then the shipping still stays as $4.95 even on 10 packs. You get ahead in that case.

        • +1

          Good point.

  • Ordered 54 packs for the free shipping. Thanks OP!

    • +1

How did you do that?. I tried and it said there was an order limit of 11 packs?.

      • multiple orders silly

        • +4

I'm pretty sure he's joking lol!

    • +1

      Same..said max 11 packs. ordered 11 anyways

      • +11

lol thought my comment would come out as an obvious joke….then I realised this is ozbargain, 54 packs actually would sound legit.

DS LSD Rechargeable NiMH Batteries 'AA', 1.2V 2200mAh, 4 pce pck has a quantity limit and the maximum you can order is 11.
      Please update your quantity.

  • Was waiting for another Eneloop deal but for <$2 a pack I'll grab some of these and give em a go.

  • These seem too good to pass up!

  • Good deal, but riddle me this batman, why are AA rechargeables 1.2 and not 1.5 volts?

    • How about this riddle, why does the eBay store allow more than 11 and site doesn't?

      Something smell here!

      • I guess they forgot to set the 11 pack limit on the ebay deal or that they couldn't.

    • Because they're NiMH. Alkaline are 1.5v.

    • +1

Marketing with bigger numbers. Akalines only have 1.5v when they are new they start to drop to about 1.2v afterwards before being almost useless at 1.0v.

Google it for a detailed answer.

      • +3

It's not marketing. It's the actual chemistry inside the battery that is responsible for different voltages. Whether or not it holds that voltage is the quality of the cell itself.

  • +1

I never hopped on the Eneloop congo line as I don't really use any high powered devices that take AAs, and just needed some cheapies for TV remotes and the like.

Got 5 packs of these on the way and I reckon for my purpose that they are better value for the money than the Eneloops.

I will look around for a decent charger though that can do 1 cell at a time and a voltage readout would be nice too. Anyone know of any bargains on those?

  • what would be the best charger for this battery?

    • +1

One that can charge a single cell at a time, has a decent current/charge rate (or even better yet - user selectable current), good cutoff and provide voltage readouts to make sure.

      Like this.
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/145453

I'm looking around for a bargain on something similar.

      • Can I charge them with Eneloop Standard Charger?

        • If you want to reduce their lifespan to 20 cycles.

        • You can use it, but it lacks all those criteria that make a decent charger.

The Eneloop standard charger at DSE appears to be a 'dumb' charger that can only charge 2 cells at a time. It could potentially cause reduced capacity fast depending on your charging habits. Most standard chargers can only charge two batteries at a time, so don't start a charge when one has half charge and the other is flat, that's the primary cause of reduced capacity when it comes to these chargers.
          http://www.dicksmith.com.au/camera-accessories/eneloop-stand…

Of course if you have a multimeter and can see the voltages of each battery then you won't have to worry but you will need to take readings to make sure that the batteries are of a similar voltage before you put them into a double rail on the charger.

I actually do this for my LiPo batteries even though I have a really good balance charger - don't want to risk a dead cell in expensive LiPos if the cells get unblanaced and the charger doesn't pick up on it.

    • +1

Apparently this is a good charger for the money.
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nitecore-Intellicharger-i2-Batter…

      • Looks half decent that one.

Can charge individual cells and has a voltage readout (although in basic coloured LEDs rather than an LCD).

I'm still looking around but I might end up getting that, cheers.

      • No thats a Li-ion one = not compatible.

        • +2

It's also NiMh and NiCd - does all 3.

        • Stand corrected, you are right. They might want to fix up that title.

      • I thought this was a bargain hunting website.

        http://goo.gl/GPhiLz

  • I wish DSE would stock some decent chargers and put them on sale

    • Why didn't I wait.. needed AAA rather than 10 packs of AA >.<

    • Aaaaaaargh

    • Thanks. I just bought 2 x AAA alkaline 30 pack $9.52 and 1 x AA alkaline 8 pack $1.46. Needed heaps of AAA batteries for my UE6000 headphone.

To think the other day i paid $10 just for 20 AAA batteries from Officeworks.

      • Great deal hollykryten.
Maybe you should re-edit and make a mega batteries deal?
There are some killer bargains mostly DSE branded but some others such as Fujitsu too.

      • I got 50 packs of AA & AAA from Aldi for $10 each

        • Sadly don't have an Aldi store here.

  • bought 14 packs on eBay. Don't even know why; I have like three devices that use AA batteries and they are all remote controls (except for Xbox 360 controllers I guess).

    • +4

You should buy a mini solar panel and make yourself an Ozbargain Power Plant.

    • I would buy some off of you as I missed out.

  • Will these explode on charge?

    • +2

Only if you put them in upside down.

  • I don't need this right now, but I might need this one day.
I already have some eneloops, but eneloops seems too good for cheapo kid's toys

    hmmm…..

  • Wish I could find AAA versions of the NiMh LSDs at this nuts price.

  • +1

Awesome, combine this with this deal, wired in parallel and I could replace my car battery real cheap! ;)

    • +1

Just might need to upgrade them wires :P

      • I think so. I don't think it would work (very well)… perhaps as a jump starter, but you'd be foolish to even try I think!

  • +1

Might convert the car to a home made Prius at this price.

  • Eneloops are great if you have kids with loads of AA battery toys.

  • +1

Why ozbargain, why oh why do you tempt me to buy these things, you know I have no will power! Now I have to buy another 30 torches! ;)

  • Bought 13 packs to make it a round figure of $29 from the ebay store.

There is someone who bought 44 packs off ebay :o

  • Bought 15packs off eBay

  • If I haven't invested in so many eneloops I would've ordered 44packs :) I've got atlease 10 x eneloops glitter packs

  • Nice edit, that's a lot of Batteries on sale.

  • I bought 4 packs… not sure what I would do with 44 packs (unless I was Broden I would know what I would do).

  • Missed out while I enter paypal password, oh well, I don't need extra 40 batteries beyond all my eneloop stocks (many unopened).

  • Man aren't all the Dick Smith batteries going for a crazy cheap price tonight. Dick Smith must be dumping off their excess Dick Smith battery stock.

  • Sold out on ebay amazing 483 packs sold. Oh well. Still available on the Dick Smith web site.

    • Expand the deal, re-edit. There are heaps of battery specials.

      • +1

Done. The deals seem to be currently all still active. Not sure if i missed any noteworthy deals but it's late and mistakes happen.

  • Funny, the web site won't let me do Home Delivery once I order, insists I do Click and Collect from Bankstown or Campbeltown. Maybe it's out of stock online and only store stock left…

edit: OK Looks like no longer available. The web site says "available" but I can't actually proceed all the way through with the order.

  • Interesting everyone going crazy for batteries this evening anyone missed out on this deal needs batteries https://www.masters.com.au/product/100021554/utilitech-1-5v-… they also have AAA if you don't need 100 well they have 30 for about $7 I think, not rechargeable but cheap they go okay for the price.

  • What does it mean when people say "these batteries leak"?

    • They probably mean alkaline leaks out of the battery. But i can't see that happening?.

      • A few people made that comment on a few of the batteries so not sure

  • lol at the D-cells; LOWER capacity than the AA's, so effectively 6 times more expensive (per mAh). They must be like an AA cell in a plastic adaptor, but they charge way more for the adaptor than the battery itself. Same for the C-size

  • +1

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/dick-smith-aa-alkaline…

wouldnt touch them..way way way to many comments about them leaking~ i wouldnt want them destroying my electronics, unless u wanted compensation :D

  • Better charger:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321335882397

    • I wasn't able to order last night, but it worked this morning.

  • lol there's people buying 50 packs, 44 packs, 28 packs, 25 packs of the 4-piece AA NiMH 2200mah on ebay. Must be real professionals.

  • Does Dicksmith eBay store charge postage per item instead of a flag fee $4.95 for one order as in its online store?

Tried to order the same from eBay store, it charges total $24.75 for 5 different type of batteries ordered.

    • +1

I tried ordering multiple different items through the ebay cart system but it wanted to charge shipping of $4.95 for every different type of battery even though they were all from Dick Smith ebay. Dick Smith ebay doesn't seem so good if you're wanting to order multiple different items.

  • Missed out last night, but got 10 pks just now from ebay store. Oh well, I will find some use for these cheapo.

  • Over now, back to insanely high prices.

    • Yeah is over like wow $29.98 now for the AAA alkaline 30 pack. And i only bought 2 packs at $4.76 each.

And the LSD Rechargeable AA 2200mah 4 piece pack is now suddenly back in stock at $23.98 i kid you not yet during the sale they were $1.85 each. My 7 packs worth would have cost $167.86 at full price. lol there were people buying 50 packs of them would have set them back $1199 at full price.

      • Your house must be filled with batteries now.

        • Not yet they hadn't even been shipped.
