No longer buy these since the packets shrank from 185g recently. Seems like bugger all in a packet now compared to before. Buy Kettle only now, hopefully their sizing won't shrink too.

We're being treated like suckers.. And if we continue to buy, we probably are just that :(

I would hope that co's like these engage in this behaviour more to negate the profit impacts of being squeezed to death by Woolies and Coles, than to simply screw the consumer in the pursuit of profit.

That said..if they're being squeezed, Aussie businesses should speak out and try to rally some support.
..Instead it's snuck through so gradually they hope the majority won't notice.. No wonder the vocal minority gets the shits!!

1/2 price sweet chilli and sour cream, please.

I did too, for a while, but had to give in and still buy the lime and black pepper chips.

If I get a craving for them - nothing can substitute.

    • This happened after Red rock were bought out by pepsi, the number of available flavors was also reduced and it seems like the oil is being changed less frequently during the cooking process.

Since when is a 165g bag of chips $4.20?

Who buys them at that price?

      • Yeah, good point.

    • Now to verify their representations about the geographical location of the chicken…

      • +1

        Yes…
If accurate, it's nice for Red Rock Deli to give us a heads-up, such are the shocking pollution issues in the Hunter Valley and the terrible cancer rates of the people who live there, coal-industry workers AND farmers…

  • +9

OMG! used to be 200gm then 180…now shrunk again!!!!!

  • +7

If I eat a lot of this will I lose weight too?

    • +5

Yes but you won't tell anyone. Just keep wearing the same clothes as before, & pretend nothing has changed.

  • I realize something: whatever Coles 1/2 price / discount, Wollies will follow the promotion a few weeks later or vice versa.
Last time Kraft 780g 1/2 price @ 4 also the same thing happened.

    • +4

That's because the same things go on special week in week out.

The way I look at it the 'special' price is the real price of the item. They just jack up the price (generally) every second week to extract maximum value from shoppers. This way they get the extra profit from those with a higher willingness to pay in non-special weeks, while also getting the benefit of a sale from people with a lower willingness to pay in special weeks.

Dayum, still waiting for the next Grain Wave special but would settle for Kettle and Rock Deli now.

  • +1

No wander they are so cheap, almost getting 25% less in a bag!

  • +5

the pack is getting a bit small for the price now, isn't it. Can't just keep reducing the pack size and expect people to still pay..

  • M&M's, Pods and Malteasers also $1.99.

Also can't seem to find my second favourite flavour Dijon Mustard anymore (sweet chilli #1). Did it get discontinued?

  • +1

    No Honey Mustard. No Deal.

    • +1

What's up with that?, I haven't seen the Honey Mustard flavour on shelves anywhere since these new flavours came out.
I tried them both and personally I didn't care for them much.

      • I stopped eating chips once they canned Honey Mustard, can't believe it. It mustn't have been selling

  • I recently got a raincheck from woolworths about a month ago and i had 4 weeks to redeem. Do you have to ask?

    Thanks.

    • old raincheck booklets were 4wks - new stock is 12mths :)

      • Excellent thanks.

Do they ever check to see if they are really in stock?

Like does it matter if they still have some left on the shelves?

Tempted to secure rain checks for all the chips half price then when Christmas or a party comes around I have a pile of vouchers to use.

If I buy them now I'm more likely to eat them sooner.

  • Good deal. I buy these now, since Kettle decided to stop selling Honey Baked Ham in Coles/Woolies stores. The two new flavours are absolute garbage….

    • I like the Chilli flavour ones still, but yeah the Kettle flavour range has nothing on Red Rock.

Aldi Blackstone chips just as good. $2.50 all the time and 200 grams. I get a laugh every time at how they've mocked the Red Rock name.

    • @herbo

probably made by Red Rock too ;)

    • +1

Never heard of them before. Will have to give them a try for that value.

      • Their honey soy chicken chips are amazing! just as good if not better than red rock deli.

    • +1

I haven't tried the Aldi knock off of Red Rock but did buy a bag of the Eldorado Corn Chips that are supposed to be a knock off of Doritos and was mucho disappointo. Ended up with a massive chunk of "flavour" in the bottom of the bag like a little orange brick of MSG.

    • Blackstone

      Perfect.

  • Best salt & vinegar chips

  • I never buy chips from coles/woolworths if it is not at least 50% off. I still never run out of chips.

    • +1

Repeating what was said to you in bed last night?

      • +1

Yeah, your mother can be a bit harsh.

        • +1

Didn't know you were into necro scene. Good for you.

  • +3

Boycott Redrock, package shrinking is offensive.
I just looked up Redrock to voice my dissaproval, but they dont have email address. A good candidate for Shonky award. I will never buy Redrock again.

Thanks for whoever mentioned Blackstone at Aldi, Im giving the a try now.

Don't all chip makers/brands shrink the weight over time just like Red Rock has?

I mean don't get me wrong, I'm pretty cranky too and haven't touched a Red Rock chip since they dropped to 165g because they're just too expensive for what you get now… but when I posted a thread about it here in the forums months ago, people brought up stories of other chips doing the same thing.

      Which is unsurprising, really.

I'm keeping my eye on the new Smiths MAXX chips (ultimate BBQ rib is droolworthy). Being new, they're a very generous 200g. The bag is enormous and heavy, lasts me forever.

Will be interesting to see if they gradually drop down and down as well… once they've reeled us in and got us hooked on a product, they probably know the loyal fans will continue to buy it even once they shrink down to bird-like portions at the same price.

      • +2

Gee today 200grams is generous I remember when it was 230grams! Some were even 250 I think

Just finished exams so stopped off at Woolies and got two packs. Just ate a whole packet to myself to celebrate. Just what the doctor ordered (not) :P

    • I remember the days where I didn't feel guilty for eating a whole packet! :)

  • Guys, these are only the tiny sharepacks, not the large packs.??.?

    • 165 g is the largest pack of Red Rock
