What could possibly go wrong when taking advantage of a North Korean pricing error… :)

    • +8

Dunno how they get a rating really. They have 10 aircraft (all Russian, thanks to US and EU sanctions). There should be a minimum 20 in a fleet before they can be rated.

      • +7

If you look at it another way, it's the nation's highest rated air carrier :)

  • +123

    Heh, "return"

    • +43

You are now banned from r/pyongyang.

  • +10

You won't use the return leg.

    • +2

Only if you've been good, then ur return leg will be express to heaven

  • +17

Check out the seat booking option "Fat" how many seats do you require and seats for your pet.

    • HAHAHAHAHAH WTF!

    • Fat: 5 seat(s)

    • +2

Didn't you know? All Westerners are filthy gluttons who require multiple seats. Only a lean North Korean requires 1 humble seat.

    • I need 5 extra seat(s) for my jewellery

      LMAO!

NK should really take to heart a very recent talk, at TED.com, on which countries do the most good, & how it can really help their economy grow, ie, having a reputation in the world for not doing silly stuff.

  • still a bargain

  • +23

I suppose if you're a real Ozbargain elite you could pack a discounted parachute and get off at Seoul or anywhere along the route.

    • +9

Parachutes are like $180, so not a bargain.

      • +16

If you get one with a defective rip cord, it's MUCH cheaper.

      • They're reusable though!

    • +2

It's from Beijing , not Australia.

    • +7

Um…Seoul is south of Pyongyang - you'd be flying from Beijing, which is north.

  • +2

Have flown Air Koryo before in Business class. Terrible, terrible food.

Family holiday it is! Better survival chance in Nth Korea than Iraq right now.

    • +7

DPRK is the safest place in the world to travel imo. We left iPhones & other valuables on public tables and locals wouldn't dare steal them

      • +16

Its voted the happiest place in the world by its own people

But I'm still a bit reluctant to put in my passport and date of birth…

    • +1

No that is before taxes, it is $9usd for total

  • +25

They better honour it or I'll be contacting the ACCC!

waiting for Melbourne - Beijing ticket deal

  • +17

To enter North Korea you will need to be apart of an arranged tour package

If you are apart from your arranged tour package, you will most likely be detained by the North Korea Government and charged with espionage.

  • "Price error fares" my arse… what you have here is 'replacement citizen recruitment', KJ(x) style…
Needless to say, there will be no 'return journey'.

    • +2

My sources tell me they have a plan to recruit an elite team of professionals with experience in mass pricing error exploitation.

  • +3

Travelled on Air Kyro last year on their economy product. Got to destination in one piece would fly again/10

Is there any process to obtain their visa?
Or just on arrival at the airport

    • Love to see you try that. You need to book tour first, usually with airfare arranged. So this is pretty pointless deal.
Plus you first need a Visa for China. Had Chinese officials at Consulate in Brisbane shout at me & border officials threaten me.
Don't forget to take a nice big camera so you get shouted at. Have fun ;-)

      • I think you will be donating that nice big camera to the dear leader >_<

      • Threatened you for what? to feed you to NK people? Consider that a charity thing plz.

    • +2

Hi North Korea used to have an embassy in Australia but I understand it is now closed.

Last time I visited there, there was an option to arrive one day earlier in Beijing, arrange for Visa there and then fly out to Pyongyang the next day.

I would expect that the tour company will assist in arranging visas.

The other condition for my trip was that the tour had to be paid in CASH in Euros or USD in Pyongyang. You will need to check the conditions of the tour.

Another important point about traveling to DRPK is that sometimes the tours to certain locations are cancelled without notice. I was supposed to see Arirang and after I booked it was cancelled.

  • $9 un hair cut

has this deal just got ozbargained? can't open the site anymore :(

    • +5

Probably our secret internet filters kicking in. Government noticing too many hits to a 'axis of evil' country site..

  • +2

Keeps telling me after entering (fake) passport details etc that there are 0 business class seats on this flight and to choose another….has this been ozbargained already!

  • +9

    so lonely…

"or just the humor of having your name on a airline ticket to North Korea ;)"

Unfortunately you'd also get your name on an AFP watch list.

  • +4

Technically, this is not an 'Oz'Bargain but a NKBargain :)

    • +3

Technically, technically CHBargain as you depart from China.

  • 64 likes……so who actually booked their ticket. I would like to see the review.

  • So, does NK let in US citizens, these days?

An earlier OzB deal - long ago - had a "No Americans" clause…

  • +1

Now it's when the advantage of having an Chinese passport Kicks in - we get discounts on the package tour to DPRK.

  • ROFL!

For your sense of humour, I give you a "+".

    I'm now booked … NOT!

  • the discount probably not worth it to become a chinese citizen.

You save more as a member of OZbargain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
