Looks like straight from Logitech. At least a bigger chance of receiving what you order than Dick Smith.

    • I still got my UE4000 from DS when they had it on sale for $24.99.
Personally i feel they get tight/hot on the ears after a bit of usage, but for this price they're pretty good.

      • +2

I thought it was just me. I had them on for a couple of hours while studying and had to take them off because my ears were actually starting to hurt. I'm not complaining though, as they're great for the price and you probably should take a break after a couple of hours anyway.

        • +1

You're not alone, my ears start hurting after just 40 mins of wearing it.

    • +1

Please note that this seller (Logitech_Australia) is not actually Logitech themselves. This is just the eBay store for LogitechShop www.logitechshop.com.au

      • +2

Its actually fluidtek.com.au, commonly known as Fast Eddie to the PC enthusiasts of NSW. Dont expect service, fluidtek dont do service.
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1338915 may give you pause. They were not, and likely still are not an authorised Logitech dealer

        • +1

They were not, and likely still are not an authorised Logitech dealer

Are you sure? I read some time ago that they became platinum partners (this was on the Logitech AU website)

        • +2

I brought a harmony 650 that was faulty and I sent it back and they replaced it no problem for me, the service was fine then

        • According to a quick Google search, Fluidtek are (and have been for years) a Logitech "Platinum Sub Distributor".

They are listed on Logitech's website:
          http://www.logitech.com/en-au/for-business/how-to-buy

And logitechshop.com.au have been mentioned as a reseller in Logitech press releases.

However, you still get points for encouraging people to research businesses rather than blindly buy now, whine later.

        That's misleading.

Ozbargain has a strange obsession with headphones. So much so I bought some myself.

    • +4

And torches. And batteries for said torches.

      Welcome to Ozbargain.

      • +7

Since joining OzB, I've bought 4 pairs of headphones & 240 batteries. I need to get myself a torch!!

        • I have also bought headphones and batteries (Eneloops in a variety of colours, I have no idea why), will check out the next torch bargain!

    • Headphones have severe markups in Australia retail, hence why i think we see an inordinate amount of headphone deals. Never pay retail!

  • +2

icanconfirm that these are actually great headphones

    • Yep, only issue is that they're slightly uncomfortable after long periods.

      • +1

Not a particular flaw with this model, just part of the compromise with most of these on ear designs. This is the trade of between smaller, lighter, more portable models as opposed to bigger, heavier, less portable, but usually more comfortable and more expensive.

You can gently stretch most headphones by opening them over a ball or box slightly bigger than your head overnight. I would recommend adjusting them to the same setting as you would wear on your head.

        • I stretch them out on my guitar when I'm not wearing them. They're decent headphones, but they're just a bit too small for my head.

    • +2

Thats funny, because everybody else i have ever heard speak of them says they sound like JUNK, including very experienced reviewers. Their big brothers the 6000 and 8000 are, however, truly amazing - some of the best closed headphones on the market - period.
They do all look AWESOME tho - i would love a purple pair if they didnt sound so bad - for the $ you are better off going for the sennheiser HD202 if you are a bass fan or 201 for a more reference can, theyare used in studios across the world for a reason (well, several).

  • I received an email from DSE that my Pioneer headphones was cancelled, 10 days after I bought the headphones and still no refund. They are happy to take your money right away but do not refund it ASAP. Imagine if they have lots of refunded money sitting in their bank account. They are earning lots of interest on it.

Now to comment on the headphone. It is very good. My kids use it very often now as it does not fall of their head. Sound is also good.

    • Hey Naira, were they these ones that were cancelled? I purchased these because they were in stock, now order is awaiting fulfilment ?
PIONEER Street Move Over-Ear Headphones White SEMJ511W
      Cheers

      • SEMJ711 is the model.

    • I got my refund from that SEMJ711 the other day although it was a Paypal balance purchase so instant refund once made.

  • Ok, thanks

  • Would buy one if there was white..

Do these have active noise cancellation?

    • no, just passive with most headphones in this price

  • I got these from the last deal at DSE, the sound is pretty hollow to my ears. I have in ear units with a fuller range.

  • +2

I bought these with this deal. Showed my wife the photo of them and she broke out laughing. Apparently I will look silly in purple headphones. No worries… A bargain is a bargain :)

  • +1

    Moza,
It will look good with your purple runners from the last nike deal :)

  • Is it comfy?

Get some HD201's instead for a few dollars more. They sound much better than these.

    • +1

There's no way the Sennheiser HD201 can sound better than a Logitech UE4000. Those are just low quality budget headphone.

      • I replaced my HD201 with UE4000, HD201's sound like ordinary $10 dollar headphones while the UE4000's can certainly punch above their weight.

The only thing I dislike is that it hurts my ears, so I frequently switch back and forth using my Koss Portapros and the UE4000.

      • Compared to the HD201, the UE4000s sound muddy and overly bassy.

The HD201 in comparison sounds more balanced overall, quite clean.

OTOH, I think the Shure SE535 and Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro both sound better than either (much better).

  • +1

I was a shmuck for paying $50 for these about 6 months ago. The sound quality is OK, but not clearly better than a $10 pair of Sony ones that I got heavily marked down.

The most annoying thing about them is that the cord is detachable and it keeps coming out when i dont want it to, if im moving around or doing something active. The cord comes out really easily.

  • Got my pair yesterday. Quick postage! Got the White which are 80% black.

Don't have much to compare it to other than the $5 Pioneer deal as I generally use IEM's, but these are better in every way to the Pioneer's. Better looks, build quality, and sound. After an hour or two they get a bit uncomfortable though.

    • That's not a high benchmark. The $5 Pioneer IEM was garbage. Strangely enough it sounds better when I use a headphone extension cable instead of directly plugging it in.

  • The $5 Pioneer deal wasn't for IEM's neither is this one, if it was I would have plenty of headphones to compare them too.

I found with the $5 Pioneer over ear ones that the slightest movement would affect the sounds dramatically, the same sort of way that a good set of tips will improve the sound of IEM's. Could just be my ears, I really don't know.

You are right though, unfair comparison - Will be interesting to see how the replacement Philips headphones go from the other bungled Dick Smith Pioneer deal. here
