11

Saw this offer in their catalogue. It's $40 with $40 cash back, which makes it free I guess.

    This is always FREE.

    • Not if you haven't been diagnosed w/ diabetes I don't think.

Everytime I go to the Chemist I always see this and other models with a cash back for the amount of the item. I think they make the money of the lancet module because that is sold separately.

      • +2

Yup same principle as a printer or a razor really!

  • Price in title please.
Good deal if you need it, lets hope that it's not ozbargained by people who have no use for it.

Lol, thats exactly what happened with this deal:

I bet 90% of the people who got one aren't going to even use it.

Might add that in order for this to be of any use, you need test strips and lancets, which would soon add up to more than $40. The readers are offered cheap under a 'razor and blades' business model.

which would soon add up to more than $40.

        Sure will.

A pack of 100 strips will cost you around the $50 mark. Unless you've got an NDSS card, but then chances are you'd already have the meter. :-)

For diabetics wanting to switch meters, it's worth phoning the company first. Usually they'll just drop a meter in the post to you free of charge, saving the inconvenience of claiming a cash-back.

  • Same deal at Chemist Warehouse i believe

Its the classic "cheap printer with expensive cartridge" business model

    • +1

Yeps… I researched the lancing cartridge thingymabob thingy and it was quite expensive. However it would be a necessary cost if you had diabetes.

      • +1

You need to buy the needle too beside the catridge(test strip)

    Cash back in what form?

    EFTPOS card?
    Store credits?
    Cold hard cash?

  • Same deal at Amcal, CHW, TWC such and such.

    • Any of those do change of mind refunds?

  • i think our pharmacy is selling for $39 = $1 profit :)

  • Yeah, not a deal as such, as it has always been the case. They actually tell you about it specifically when diagnosed.
