DSE 1.8m USB to Micro USB Cable $1.50 Free Shipping: Ends Today

Just order one. Free shipping to WA. Cheap for a 1.8m cable. Not sure of quality but hopefully it is good.

Great for long charging cable as most phones now come with a combine data/charger cable which is quite short.

Warning: I purchased one of these a few weeks back, they are not a high quality cable. They only charge at a maximum rate of 0.4 - 0.6 amps …. which is a very slow charge.

    • I thought the speed of charging was to do with the charger and not the cable??!

      • +12

Nope….you might get 2.0amps at the charger end, but the time it gets to the end of a cheap cable or a long cable (cheap long cables are the worst!), its a tiny fraction of that.

Try this seller for cables that guarantee 2.0amps.

This tandy cable, is ok for a slow overnight charge of a phone, but it wont provide enough amperage to charge (or even keep a tablet alive) whilst in use.

        • these cables were good but not anymore, bought some recently and after couple of months. stopped charging and need to play with the head around to start charging.

I was fun of these cables but I wounding recommend them any more

        • @msmhw: are you referring to the Tandy or the ones from eBay?

        • +3

I agree with @ash2000 I have been using my tikbro cable for almost a year now and its still working great!

        • thanks bought 1 from ur link, i had same issues with 3M cable bought from eBay.

        • This and the 12W Apple charger are a serious charging team

        • Sweet thanks!

Also there's a 3 pack for $8.99 if you plan to get more than one:
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/251505559657

        • @Esplin: the one from ebay the "Tikbro"

        • thanks. Bought one since i'm having issues charging my LG G2 - only charges at around 500mA regardless of what charger i use (1.0A or 2.1A)

        • @edrift: How do you check the charge rate?

        • @elusive:

I use the battery monitor widget. Also if you have an LG phone you can check from the hidden service menu by dialing
          3945#*802#

But substitute 802 for your phone model number. It's 802 for the LG G2 or 920 for the LG Optimus 3D.

        • @edrift: Thanks. Turns out the battery app I was using already had it; it didn't on the S2 I had before, so I didn't think to check.

If anyone's wondering, the code is *#0228# on the Galaxy S4.

    • Damn, wish i had read this before I purchased a bunch of them. Figured being Tandy/dick smith they might be better quality.

      • +1

They're not terrible, just not as efficient as a genunine or HQ cable. But in all fairness, I only bought one, and tested one…..a fairer assessment would be to test multiple cables.

      • The old Tandy stuff (actually Radio Shack) was very good quality but expensive.

I think DSE are just using the brand for some reason, DSE stuff has always been …just acceptable.

They're the same loose $1 cable you used to pick out of a tub just now in hang packets and prices creeping back to Tandy levels….

  • +3

    Tandy cable lol

    "Accessories Included - No"
No accessories come with this cable, it's just a raw cable, therefore no deal then.

    • -1

Of course it only comes with a cable. What do you expect for $1.50?

      • +2

A box of chocolates or flavored mints.
I bought 2 pairs. Very good price. Seriously. I can sit in bed and use my phone whilst it is charging. Hopefully it doesn't kill me.

  • Thanks. Just ordered 3. I don't really need it at the moment but what the heck only $1.50 each.

Bargain. These sort of USB cables are $9.95 at Jaycar.

  • Thanks op deal looks good for local!
could always use a few more and can never find this cable to charge my ps3 controller hah.

  • Thanks OP, got a few of them as they are always handy to have around.

  • Kogan have a 1m one for $1 delivered if you're extra tight.

    • Thanks. I am super tight. Ordered one. Freee Delivery. It's actually a better deal.

      • If you want to lose 0.8m of cable length all for 50c. Oh and also takes 3-4 weeks before it even leaves the warehouse. I don't see how it's a better deal. Your tightness just cost you a lot of time for a shorter cable you may see in about a months time all for just a 50c difference.

      • Actually a worse deal. Kogan cabling is $1 per metre, whereas DS is $0.75 per metre. Plus the convenience of actually having a physical store to return it to if something's wrong.

        • Kogan cable's quality is crap, DSE's cable is supposed to be better.

  • thanks

  • +3

'Tandy' - haven't seen that name in years! Worth buying to show the kids!

  • +1

Hope you don't need the Kogan one too soon - "Leaves warehouse in 3-4 weeks"

    • +1

Yeah true receive it in about over a month later from Kogan in Hong Kong so it's overseas stock and delivery.

"This Product is offered and supplied by Kogan HK Limited pursuant to the Terms and Conditions." <—— meaning delivered from Hong Kong after about a 3-4 week backorder delay.

I really wonder about some time just how tight they can get when it just makes themselves look like an idiot. We're talking about only a 50c difference for a 80cm longer cable with Australian stock and free Startrack Express delivery.

  • Will this work as a longer charge cable for a PS4 controller?

    • Works on the PS3 controller so should work on the PS4.

  • not good with cables, would this work on samsung s3/s4?

    • Yup. That's what I use it with.

      • thanks
        ordered.

    • If you're using the 2.1a charger with the S4. This cable will limit the charge to 0.5a

Anyone with a charger higher than 500mah needs a cable like the Tikbro

I learned this after months of wasting time with normal usb cable.

  • Thanks OP! Free shipping to me in Sydney makes this extra awesome! I hope it is higher quality than the usual cables from Ebay for around $1-2

  • Bought 10, otherwise i would of have to pay 1 Belkin cable for the same price.

  • arrgh sold out.

    • +1

      you're not missing out..

these cheapo cables are pretty bad quality.. charging speed wise and also build wise

      • thanks

  • Got the shipping email for my 3 cables today.

  • Received them today. The quality is okay. The plugs are well made and the connectors have a goldish colour. The cable has 28awg printed on it. I'm not sure if thats good but the cable is fairly flexible.

  • looked good quality to me, gold plated

  • Received my 3 cables today. Cables seem ok. $1.50 each was a bargain.
