Chromecast is the best. Ive stopped using my HTPC and turned off my 12TB microserver since getting it.

    • Interested in what features are you excited about?

      • I can easy stream youtube videos to my 40" LCD tv with 5.1" and 12" sub with a click of a button!

        lol

Can play googlemusic through it too.

        • How did you manage to fit youtube content into your 12 Tb server before?

        • @SickDmith: download it using those websites, then put on server and load/watch. PITA

        • Yeah I'd rather stream then keep all that content. You can also steam on apps like TV portal, which pretty much has all up to date tv/movies. The only problem I've found with it, the quality isn't that good. So I'll probably just stick with channel bt and stream via plex for stuff I can't find on amazon/netflix/hulu plus. :)

        • With XBMC installed on your microserver, you can easily stream YouTube video to your microserver/TV.

Actually you can AirPlay anything to XBMC/TV.

        • I have found Airplay from iPad to XBMC to be a bit hit and miss. How do you do it similarly from an Android device?

        • @number5: Effort to turn on microserver and load xbmc and also the power usage of the microserver is much more than chromecast.

  • Love my Chromecast. Plays all kinds of content, brilliantly, and I am looking forward to more 'stuff' to play. Best money I ever spent on tech.

  • Hmm makes me wonder if they will ship the ones from the deal yesterday or just the ones that pay postage from this deal.

    • Mines already on its way.

      • Lucky I am still awaiting fulfilment

        • You will probably get your one before I do. Its coming from Perth!

        • Awaiting fulfillment here too.

I ordered mine 10 mins into the FIRST deal. They sent me a dud tracking number, I contacted them and gave me an invalid tracking number. I have now filed charge back with my credit card provider as dicksmith are claiming I received it on the basis the first tracking number shows it as delivered. The only problem is the first tracking number shows it being delivered last year on in June in another STATE.

DUDSMITH I have reported you to the ACCC

    Says $49 for me.

    • I think you need to apply the coupon which would bring it down to $39

  • Bought this a few days ago from a similar deal. I mainly use it for mirroring desktop to stream movie from website. The mouse delay make it annoying to navigate so it's not really for me. If someone want it they can have it for $30. Only used for 1 day. Pick up in Melbourne West.

    • If you'll ship it for free I'll take it! :D

      • Can be pick up in the cbd if you want.

  • Anyone managed to get it at david jones for $39?

    • some have had success at JB Hi Fi

      • who cares its 43.95. i just bought one.

although ..i have a smart tv. not sure if i should have got one

  • Streaming movie from my Note3 onto the TV is fantastic. Also casting YouTube has no lag too. Love Chromecast.

A beta install allowed me to mirror the phone screen onto the TV. Worked quite well

  • Thanks Op got one

  • 'Chromecast deals from dicksmith' seems to be the new 'eneloops from dicksmith' deals.

First one to post the same price they regularly go on sale for gets a front page post :p

  • Back up to $49 and out of stock.

  • the code is gone :-(

  • Is this considered better/worse/on par with the wdtv live streaming for playing things from a home NAS via wifi?

  • Code has expired guys
