A local supplier should listen to what we want and do a group deal on Hitachi coolspin 4tb drives. Max order 4.

would be nice to buy drives in Australia and not amazon / b&h.

    My 2c…

    • PM me if it happens!

    • How much you reckon we should pay for one of these? (if it ever happens…)
I thought the margin in these computer parts are minimal, wouldnt that mean even if they offer a group deal it couldnt possibly be too much cheaper anyway right?

      • That's the 64 million dollar question isn't it. I doubt we'd see them under $200 locally but considering they've been $150 USD on B&H recently and $143 USD previously on Amazon, it would have to be under $200 to be considered.

I'm personally looking daily, ready to pull the trigger when it becomes <$150 USD again. On Amazon that equates to around $170-175 AUD delivered I think. Also, I could be wrong but I think one of the strengths of Hitachi is local warranty covers international purchases (though I'm happy to be corrected if I have that wrong).

Me personally, I'd jump on a local deal if it were under $200 and included delivery. Whether that pricing is possible is not a question I can answer.

  • i paid $177 only at Officeworks, it priced $199 but only $177 charged when scanned at checkout

  • This is the one that was AUD$152 including delivery from Amazon recently (it's sitting in my parcel locker right now waiting for me to pick it up).

    • That means my 3 should turn up in the next few days too. Awesome.

      • Damnit. It wasn't my 4tb HDD. I'd forgotten I had also ordered a 5.25" to 1x 3.5" + 1x 2.5" drive bay adapter for my N54L. Amazon tracking had the HDD land in Australia on the 2nd of August though, with delivery estimate of 11th? Weird.

  • Shipping kills it.

Just search "Seagate 4TB". There have been a plethora of deals on these lately for as low as $136. Amazon's record low was $129.99 last month.
