    Great pricing!

Just as way of comparison, Crucial list the 256gb model for $116.99 US or roughly $125 AU dollars or the 512Gb model for $224.99 US or $242.50. These prices do no include delivery from crucial which I believe is $20 or more the last time I purchased from them.

Crucial MX100 256GB - $129 Free Shipping might be a good price, but it is no bargain. Why buy one of these when you can get the Samsung EVO of similar size for about $10 more at MSY any day of the week?

Also you can't say a Crucial MX100 is "10x faster than a hard drive". This is false and misleading advertising.
Under some conditions it can be 50x faster than a hard drive, but under others it might only be 3x faster.

    • +1

Can you point me where they are stating 10x quicker?

      • I would also like to know this, I swear I've read and re-read and I can't find that stated anywhere… possible I missed it due to Friday arvo inattention.

Also its a bargain because A)as you've stated, its cheaper than an EVO and B)not everyone has access to an MSY store.

        • Look at "top pic #4" on the linked website: for crucial m500 960GB it says
          -10x faster than normal harddrives.
          -Extensive quality and reliable testing.
-compatible with PS3, PS4, MAC and PC.

          @nerangsta:

Ah right, you originally said it was stated for the MX100.

Yeah I agree stating 10 times faster, can't really be quantified conclusively. I think most people nowadays know SSD is generally faster, this line about speed is not required.

        • @kearnsy:

Sorry wrong drive, but the principle remains the same, the claim is without merit, making it false and misleading advertising, the a clear breach of the Australian Consumer Law.

          I didn't originally say anything holmes :p

    http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-240GB-2-5-Inch-Internal-CT240M…

    Crucial M500 240GB 116$ + free shipping ^^

    • +1

      shipping is $5.77

    • that's M500?

    • +3

What Zelda said "shipping is $5.77"

      Not to mention currency conversion.

A straight conversion of price + shipping is $131.18 AU

EDIT: Comparing apples to apples the MX100 is $128 AU shipped from Amazon. I think it is worth the extra $1 to buy Australian stock.

    • Amazon always showing free shipping considering you're US buyer, but once you add item to the cart and select Aus address you will see shipping cost. They won't ship here for free

  • This worth the additional 25 bucks over the Samsung 840 EVO SSD 500GB? (Keeping in mind this is Aussie stock).

    • +2

The benchmarks I have read have the 840 in front in most tests. How this translates into your real world situation probably not that much I wouldn't think.

I think it comes down to whether you think buying Australian stock is worth the extra $25. I would probably say yes due to easier/quicker warranty returns.

:) tempting… still waiting on another NUC deal.. :D

    • +1

same, missed the last one so hanging for the next deal. XBMC and steam streaming in the bedroom

      • yeh missed the last one too.. :(

  • mwave has the 128 and 512gb Samsung 850 pros at the same price as your specials ……… what gives ???

  • "Australia's Manufacturer Warranty" Are these made in Australia?

Rep, could you run me through the warranty return process?
Is it an Australian address that these get shipped to for warranty?

  • Does this SSD come with a mounting bracket and cable?

    • No, it's just the drive and 9mm adaptor

  • should be Australian localised warranty
as I have stated in my past post, SOON 500 GB SSD will be under 250 AUD locally, given off course GFC mark 2 don't set in

Are Samsung Pros (or Sandisk Extreme Pros) even worth the added price as opposed to Samsung EVO 840s or Sandisk Extreme IIs?

    • Only under very limited situations, which you are highly unlikely to find in a normal domestic situation. The key differences between the Samsung Pro and EVO are two fold (1) faster transfer of small files (4k), which would normally only be noticed on a heavily loaded web server, or may be just on a heavily used office server.(2) Write durability, which would only become an issue if you were near continuously writing to the drive at high speed 24x7 for more than 2 or 3 years.

      • damn it man why make sense?…..lol

  • Ill pass for better pricing

    • strong

  • sub $0.50/GB pricing now, getting good

  • Has anyone experienced claiming warranty with Shopping Express? Given it is local, does it mean it will be easier than claiming it with Amazon?

    • haven't claimed warranty with them, as everything I have bought still works. I did have an issue where there was a gpu that did not fit in the N54L like they'd said it would (it was an easy mistake to make. there was a newer version of the gpu with a different heatsink, so didn't fit like previous model did). I contacted them, they gave me a free postage return label to print out, I shipped it back at no cost, they sent a replacement one that did fit out to me (that was slightly cheaper), and refunded me the difference in price, no questions.

      • thanks for sharing your experience salem. That makes me more confident to make a purchase.

  • Hi. Do these SSDs come with 3.5" mount?

    • No, its just the drive and 9mm spacer

  • Do these include software to to do the imaging of the HD —> SSD like the Samsungs?

    • +1

yes, it comes with Acronis True Image 2014
