I do not enjoy writing long stories: This is cheaper than the previous deal.

I do not enjoy reading them :P

    • The previous one on KFC was quite entertaining.

  • +2

I have not read any good stories about the one plus one. A lot report screen issues.

    • I hear good things from the tech sites and press, and minor issues with build quality and software bugs, for the price that the lucky people bought this for, Im not surpised at the lesser quality assurance

    • mine has no issue with screen

      • +1

        Neither does mine.

        • Have any invites? ;-)

        • @Jezzabell: They don't ship to Australia.

        • +2

          @TheOneWhoKnocks:

over 50 people have used invites with a USA shipping forwarder on Whirlpool.
          http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/Mobile_Phone_OnePlus_Invite_Lis…

        • @salem: Cool, but I was saying the company themselves don't ship to Straya.

        • +1

@Jezzabell: No need for invites, I bought mine from DWI eBay 1 month ago for AU $478.00 (64GB model) delivered plus the cashback from cashrewards. Even though it comes with the chinese ROM you can easily reflash it using the OnePlus toolkit (get it from XDA forums) to the CyanogenMod11S ROM (the official OnePlus ROM) and from then on you will get over the air updates exactly the same as the invite OnePlus.

Easily better value than the Nexus 5 which I got last year, would recommend this phone to anyone. Same hardware specs as the LG G3 but $200 cheaper, it's a no brainer for the high end of flagship at a bargain price.

Edit: Looks like they changed it from ColorOS to Cyanogenmod (Guess they reflash them themselves now?) - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5-5-ONEPLUS-ONE-4G-LTE-QUAD-CORE-… $468 ($10 cheaper than I bought too!)

      • No issues with mine either.

    • Mine (genuine international version) is brilliant.

      • There are non genuine ones floating around?

        • +5

No, just an international one supplied directly via them and their convoluted and BS rare-as-hens-teeth invite system, or the other option is a Chinese model (this) which is still genuine, and all but identical save for a cyanogen logo and a couple of different supported frequencies which make no difference here in Australia.

        • Hard to tell, as their OS is open source CyanogenMod, so easy to copy.

There are a lot of OnePlus One's for sale in China around this price (16GB for US$ 349, 64GB for $399 delivered)

          http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=oneplus+one&c…

The US BS invite system is probably just a way to get free publicity. The Chinese prices are good for a phone with this spec, IMHO.

    • +2

Haven't had a single problem with mine.

It's the same old, 9 out of 10 will go online to post a bad experience, but lucky to get 1 in 10 to bother writing up their good one.

  • +13

If for some reason the BS marketing and arrogant CEO didn't put you off the device then I'd definitely get the 64gb version.

16gb with no SD card expansion is the definition of settling.

Of course when you do, for $450 it's not much off something more reputable. The Z2 is just $50 more for example.

Great intentions ruined by the marketing department and their delay coming to market.

    • Don't forget lack of manufacturing capabilities to match hype created by said marketing department.

      • +2

oh i think the manufacturing capabilities is there they are owned by Oppo. they are just trying to boost the prestige of the brand by limiting supply.

        • +3

maybe learned a trick or two from Apple marketing dept. :P

    • Z2 for $500? Where?

    • So you can get a 64gb version of the Z2 for $500? Where?

      • +1

I'd rate 16gb + msd expansion over unexpandable 64gb any day.

        • +1

          For maximum possible size, yes.
For usability with androids lock down now, far from it.

        • @linton:
Easily able to get around with root and an app like SD card fix.

        • +1

          @plasmapuff:

Rooting the phone AND using an external app just to use SD card like internal memory?
          Sounds so simple…

        • +1

          @linton:
No, if you do the above it treats it like external memory of pre Kit Kat. Incredibly useful if you hot swap between your phone and DSLR for example.

Towelroot and installing a 1 click app from the market is pretty simple…and infinitely better than 64GB expandable memory.

    • Except that the 16GB version was meant for the Chinese market. The international version only comes in 64GB at this time.

  • +3

Have one (64gb, direct from one plus). It's perfect. Awesome phone

  • -4

    Looking for direct invite please!

    • Why don't you buy one and reflash it a new ROM into it?

  • Great phone!

  • +4

Don't really find it that tempting for $387. phone looks good, but it is not a reputable brand and some people have had screen issues. if it was $299 I would bite though.

    • +1

yeah 64gb at $350 and it'd be hard not to buy.

      • +1

yeah. Heck, $399 for 64gb and I'll bite. Just hoping they come down to that before something else is officially announced that takes my fancy (eg: nexus 6)

    • +3

people have issues with lots of phone, at least 1+1 have fixed the ones they supplied direct (try that with a cracked back on a Sony!) The reason people are more vocal about this phone if it has an issue is that many have waited months for an invite.

    • The parent company and designers of the phone are one of the best phone retailers in the world.

  • +1

Absolutely love the phone BUT having service issues with boost. Seems like it drops connection/Service every so often. Was not a problem with my nexus phone. Flashed with fastboot 30O and had an OTA update last night but still the same issues. Anyone else experiencing this?

    • -1

Drop connection so often and you still "absolutely love" it? Forgive me I just don't understand your logic. Crap is crap, no matter how cheap it is. That's why people pay premium for a good repute brand.

      • I absolutely love the phone and have no issues with 4G on Telstra.

        Best phone I've ever owned.

      • Had the same thing with my zopo c2. Ended up sending it back as I couldn't find a solution. Apparently a common problem with chinadroids but I still loved the phone..

      • Just because a certain phone has an issue with a particular radio band either 3G/4G or even a version of bluetooth or wifi, but apppart from that everything works well, does not make it a crap phone. There are so many different bands/frequencies etc between models and countries, it is impossible to cover all of them in one phone for weight/size/power draw and keeping price reasonable. The iphone 4 had some reception issues, and that turned out to be one of the best selling phones in it's time.

      • I would say it's because Boost is on the Optus network. I had a Nexus 5 before my OnePlus and it dropped connection/service all the time, same thing happens on OnePlus. I think the Optus cell towers are over congested so they just have the tower drop you for a min or so when you aren't in a call and they need extra circuits for someone making a call.

  • +2

This is the Chinese version, with ColorOS.

  • +6

Can we just call it the 'Two' phone for short? Oneplus One is so silly to say or type.

    • It's part of the marketing plan next model will be oneplus two

      • +4

I think next one will be 1+1+1

    • More like Window Phone

    • +7

Some say Apple is a US brand made in China, so dont buy

      • +8

but all we know is…HE'S CALLED THE STIG.

  • +5
    • Good price on the black 64GB too

  • +5

Still a better buy to get the Sony Xperia Z Ultra that MSY has on sale for $349.

    • +3

Z1 also available for $409 pickup if you want something more pocketable & not a phablet, you can sacrifice the screen size for a much better camera+flash. Other than that the specs are more or less the same.

    • Was tempted to get the Sony Xperia Z Ultra but realised this phone did not even have a camera flash! What the f? How to take pics in low light/night environment? Even the cheap China phones had LED flash.

      • +1

Yeah, the missing flash put me off buying it. If it was $300 or less I'd maybe consider it…

I was lucky enough to snipe myself a brand new Z1 on eBay for $325 shipped last week. Fairly decent saving from $409. That really made my day!

    • Most people would not be interested in a 6.4in screen

    • +2

Z Ultra is an inferior phone which is much larger but has a smaller battery, less RAM and an older CPU SOC.

EDIT: Why the neg? I'm simply stating the facts for a comparison between the Xperia Z Ultra vs the O+O.

      • Same happened to me. If they compare apples with oranges someone is bound to point out the differences. It helps others so don't be off put by a neg.

        • +2

Maybe compare two items, without stating the word "inferior", as that is your own personal opinion and not so probably not so clear cut to others. Please, continue to give comparisons, comments and reviews, but maybe be more objective.

      • They use the same cpu, different stepping. Big deal one is clocked a couple of 100 mhz higher, I doubt you'll notice any difference in the real world.

        • Actually this isn't correct. The Snapdragon 801 apart from having a faster processor clock, also has a higher clock on the RAM. The GPU is also significantly faster, so you will get smoother scrolling and game performance. This is in addition to eMMC 5.0 support versus "only" 4.5 on the 800.

There are actually many more "goodies" on the 801 which you can read about here: http://lzma.so/AYD5L6

        • @fatal:

Well that would depend on the version of the 801 you have vs the 800.. Better info here

          http://www.anandtech.com/show/7846/the-difference-between-sn…

even shows there's a version of the 800 faster than the slowest 801..

The difference between the two is negligible at the end of the day. Do you really think 28 mhz higher gpu is significant? and 200 mhz extra clock speed are going to be huge enough difference to see in the real world? It certainly not worth investing hundreds of dollars extra for the slight gains in performance.

  • How does it compare to a Nexus 5?

Recently the Nexus was $359 from Mobilecity, which after TRS GST refund came to only $326.

I can't say I would be swayed by the slightly bigger screen or slightly faster CPU. Anything else that should convince me? I guess the bigger battery would be a bonus, albeit at the cost of significantly more weight.

    • most reports have the oneplus one having amazing battery life, and the nexus 5 average to poor. But the nexus 5 has qi charging, so if you just leave it on a qi mat on your desk at work or whatever (like I have to do with my nexus 4), it kind of makes up for it? depends on your needs, really. obviously if you're out and about a lot qi isn't going to help.

    • +1

On Nexus 5 my battery would be at less than 20% when I left work and need charging when I got home or it'd die. On the OnePlus I don't have to charge it at all since waking up to going to sleep - easily lasts the full day and still have like 40-60% battery left to spare. I think I get about 15-18hrs on the OnePlus, a lot of people report getting over a day but I have like 470 apps so I guess I should cleanup my phone a bit haha

  • +6

Honestly i'd wait for the Nexus 6 which is probably in 2-4 months.

    • +2

Yep waiting on this. Hoping it will come with the new 4G bands as well.

  • +2

Ppl are actually buying this despite cheap/nasty sales campaign?
    <face fist>

    • +1

Yep - cheap/nasty sales campaign doesn't make it any less than the best phone for the money.

  • +3

Not a bad price considering it's $299 US, very difficult to get an invite and then need to pay freight on top.

For those that need 3G only. The xiaomi mi3 at $289 is a good price.

  • +3

Fyi use code rmn2014 for $10 off on their website.

  • +2

They claim to be the flagship phone killer due to their low price of $299, but at $400~ if you just put in a bit for an Xperia or even an S5 (on sale) I'd rather the galaxy any day

    • No way, the S5 only has 2GB ram compared to the OnePlus 3GB ram and only 32GB storage compared to 64GB of the OnePlus (If we are entering the $4xx price range). Same CPU & GPU but the S5 only has a 2800mAh battery to the OnePlus 3100mAh. The OnePlus is definitely more comparable to a G3 than an S5 despite the G3 costing $200 more than it.

  • +2

    Have one 64gb white OPO…
    Its so amaizing phone…must have

Also I run android L theme, which is just as developer version of it..and I like it

Brilliant phone…super battery and decent camera (super pics clarity)
Overall best phone 9.5/10 from me

    • +1

Also classy premium feel of phone, with big and amazing display

Doesnt feel cheap..it feels like aluminium phone

  • I would dare to say it is the best phone out there at the moment.

    • -3

nope mi4 is, go see comparison on youtube

      • -2

Except Mi4 is crippled by MIUI and has a smaller screen?

        • not everybody wants a monster phone, 5 inch is the sweet spot, negs from the people who bought the one plus one lmao
          here video comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNbAGXLlHVs
the one plus one has bugs with its cyanogen mod and u call the miui crippling:/ i suggest you watch some reviews..

        • +1

@striker5950: I agree 5"/5.2" should be the upper limit for a normal phone

  • For those who talk about invites. I did get invite. It was vslid for 24 hours only and when you click on it system verifies details on theur forum profile. Since Mne said AUS the link said "currently we do not ship to Australia".

So even if you do have invite i am not sure how wil you get it delivered here.

    • +5

Use a forwarding service such as shipito.

  • man… I paid $470 from them a few weeks ago!!

    • +3

but you got a 64gb one, right?

      • You'd hope so, otherwise he will lose all ozb cred…

    • I paid the same for a white 64gb from t-dimension a couple of weeks ago, but that included 4 day FedEx postage (thurs-mon).

  • -2

mi4 beats this phone, that is if you can get one xd

    • +2

A phone I'm very interested in but I believe only 3g models around just now and also priced around $450US to get one is a bit much. There is a lot of phones to consider around this price point. Especially for those that want local warranty.

  • Can someone explain, this phone when bought from some stores (eg oppomart http://www.oppomart.com/oneplus-one.html/ ) has the Cyanogen logo. What is the difference then to buying it from the official store? Warranty?

    • when i bought it from dwi it has the color os on it and I had to flash cyanogenmod on it.

  • -4

I have a dilemma, I want a new phone, but I really value good screens and OLED just does it for me… except Samsungs S5 inc the SD805 S5 LTE-A just look SO lame. The LG G3 the screen sucks ass… the Oppo Find 7 screen's not bad from utube vids, but it's freaking HUGE.
So is 1+1 any good in the screen department?

    • Its the same size as the find 7 and its big.

    • Yes, very good. Even watching movies on it now.
