To my knowledge there are O name brand equivalents at this price and specification. That is if you consider Topfield, Beyonwiz, Tivo name brands. Average sale price not RRP is $700-$850 with 320GB HDD .Yess have been making PVR's for well over 5 years on the Australian market and have OEM'D for various other brands such as Teac.
This unit has had a total overhaul to the user interface and now includes a user friendly EPG with features such as program type categorisation and editing which were not found on previous models. The USB interface adds the ability to easily archive data to PC or visa versa.
If anyone can come up with a product on the Australian market today with HD Twin Tuner, USB output & input( most only record out) Support for MPEG 2/4 H.264, MHEG 5 and 1 Terrabyte HDD at the same or better price including shipping I'll give them a $100 shopping voucher.
Well It's not 1TB, and I'm not sure about the MPEG and MHEG 5, but I posted in the forums that JB HiFi has a $396 DGTEC 320GB HD PVR with twin tuners. Whether it has USB isn't clear either but in many ways DGTEC isn't no-name as they are also stocked by Myers, DJs and Harvey Norman to name a few…
What about the OMNI D552 500GB High Definition Digital TV PVR Recorder Twin Tuners - HDMI Output at topbuy.com.au at $379.95 + free shipping? Only 500GB but $120 cheaper. ($140 now as price has gone up at crazystu.) Has usb, etc. I'd love a $100 shopping voucher at crazystu's! Then I would buy the Yess model.
