Going to sound like a prick, but DS really pisses me off.

Seriously, they are the tv supplier for COTD deals.

They run the electrical section of David Jones.

They are always in on the ebay deals.

Their own website has specials 6 days a week.

It's getting laughable. If something is on sale every other day, it kind of defeats the purpose of continuing to advertise it, day in day out as a special price on this site.

Just be happy you're getting a good price?

Promote promote promote! The owners are trying to revive the place, what else can they do?

I see what you mean but I think it is a great thing that they are doing. I have grabbed a few things from them recently. Their ps4/Xbone games are cheaper then import prices recently as well.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't JB do the same thing before they became the juggernaut they are today?

Good tactic. It means that if someone is searching for a bargain, they now also turn to your store in addition to the usual like JB, Officeworks, TGG, eBay etc…

Simple, the private equity owners are trying to drive up their revenue (net profit not an issue) so they can offload their share to someone else.

      •

Um, they are floated (ASX: DSH) so not private equity owned.

They call it attempting to gain market share.

Im not complaining. Bought all my PS4 games from Dick Smith due to their awesome price.

Not as good as the 14-15% DS regularly runs every few weeks.

True, but still better than nothing or if you missed out and need something sooner rather than later :)

  •

    Ta.

grabbed a display model of Macbook Pro Retina 15 late 2013 Core i7 256GB for $1599, nothing wrong and new as, the only thing I am working on is asking Apple to put warranty on and they still not getting back to me yet after I disagreed with them about 'ex demo has no warranty' response (I got a display model iMac before and got 24 month warranties, the proof is I just had my hard drive replaced without any cost after 20 months of using it). Any idea guys to make Apple kick in the warranty or I just ask DickSmith to do it for me? Thank you

    •

Does the catalogue code on your receipt start with a J or XA? Also, does it explicitly say exDEMO on the receipt in the description?

      •

hi, it's XA1164 and exDEMO on it, DickSmith confirmed with 12 month warranty from them but I expect Apple warranty too since I might travel overseas with this laptop for few months. Also, I did not have any problem at all with an exDEMO iMac purchased on Dec 2012, had the hard drive replaced without cost at Apple Robina recently
