Turn the power off prior to installing no-name LED lights. Their dodgy design and half assed soldering / insulation can make the heatsinks of the LED lights live with electricity.

I bought one of their RGB ones and decided to open it up to see what was inside and that was the first thing I noticed. I decided against burning my house down.

Mind you, if you bypass the mains power on the board you can drive the LED's with a DC power pack if you're into electronics and have an awesome remote driven light set.

Will burn out within 2 months. 100% guaranteed.

30 degree beam angle, no-name LED chip. I can't see why anyone would want this.

Worthless junk that will burn your house down. Great bargain.

And the worst Customer Service, and the worst response to the saftey of the crap they sell!… Only..

  • Any difference from the ones on ebay for $0.45 free delivery?

Last time bought 12 from ebay, 4 did not work on arrival. The rest did not last for 6 months the longest.
Would be interested to buy from you if yours last longer and have the 2 years warranty. Is it hard to claim?
    Any MR16 on discount?

    • Any difference from the ones on ebay for $0.45 free delivery?

Yes, the eBay ones you will actually receive in the mail..

And you can force a refund through PayPal and avoid being scammed by MyLED.

I bought most of mine from an Australian ebay store modernlightscomau because it was local and said 5 year warranty. Bollocks! They've nearly all died with 6months and no warranty as its over 45 days so I can't get paypal's help. Emailed 3 times. No response. I can't do anything about it.
However, the previous Ozb promo one I got from MyLED looked better built and is still shining brighter than the dodgey 12W ones I got from modernlightscomau.

Bought a dozen to support my vote for MyLED.

Worked out to be almost $1.43USD shipped but PayPal Conversion Rate as of 27 Aug 2014: 1 Australian Dollar = 0.898454 US Dollars

I'm gonna outbid you on that. Thats the difference. Mwah haha haha

      hahaha.

      • You are correct. Bid from $0.45. Otherwise $1.03.

        • Just for anyone out there's benefit, the -g4 that I need for my range hood I tried to get on ebay and they are dim to the point of useless

Very disappointing. Bad product and not even bright at all. Save your money and buy Phillips LED bulbs.

    Also crappy customer service.

Negging for yet again lack of response from the rep who cant vouch for quality or safety, but boasts about price..

Ozbargain is great for lots of things, including cheap crap to buy without thought,..
But buying cheap crap to plug into your mains power that can be lethal, without proper safety checks for Australia, and may not even turn up…. Forget it!

Mods/scotty/someone, how does Myled keep posting?
If they don't break the current rules then they need to be changed to suit the safety of Ozbargain users.

      Great post!
We don't need OzBargain to be filled with dangerous products that people mindlessly buy.

      • +2

I've reported them in the past, that fell on deaf ears..
I've reported them again, and hope others do the same!

        • This is the first time you have reported this company for dangerous goods. We don't read every comment in every deal so weren't aware of this alleged danger issue. So its not that we are ignoring the issue, we just aren't aware. Report and Talk with a Moderator forum are the best ways to let us know of any issues.

We read every report and now have started a discussion. We will let everyone know the outcome.

        • @neil: for dangerous goods, yes.
          But not the first time.
As for the talk to a mod:

Hi neil, buy a bulb, have a look, check wiring and housing for australian saftey standards. If it arrives that is.

Or if like me you have bought in the past and either never received or just binned the crap received, then go look at past myled posts and the lack of response from the Rep OP in regards to saftey standards they adhere to.

My evidence is in landfill or in the comments on this site by others, so what evidence would you like?

Would not an Ozbargain Mod ask the Rep whether they comply in Australia?
You'd think is Myled were allowed to post potentialy lethal electronics, and never reply to conforming to Australian standards, a Mod would ban them…
I mean, electronic cigarettes get banned yet they are safe to put into your face..
Bulbs without proper earthing can be touched by people who may touch them eg kids .and yet are still allowed to be sold on Ozbargain

        • @ozy:

Thanks for the feedback ozy. Please comment/vote in this thread I just created.

  • I bought some led bulbs from them and so far so good.

    • Batteries all fresh in your smoke detector??

  • Low quality items for pennies are ok but items like this that run on AC…. NEVER.
