    • +1

      Time to stock up

      • +1

        Indeed :)

  • +1

    err wtf

    4 pack 700g is $3.70

    6 pack 1.05kg is $11.21

    maths how does it work?

    • +2

The 6pack is not on sale..
All the other 3 links say 'hurry ends tueday'

    • That means it'd suck to buy the 6 pack right now.

  • +2

Weird they were normal price in store today

    • Same. I just picked up the Big Ben Pies instead.

    • +1

      I bought instore today

  • How much meat in the beef ones? And is it really meat and really beef?

    • +29

food seems tastier if I purposely try not to find out what's in it and how it was made.

      • +3

Sometimes a little knowledge does not help.

Needless to say, I am not a pie fan!

FWIW, I try to delude myself into thinking that sausage rolls are full of nature's bounty.

        • +3

Ignorance is bliss, I will not click on your info link!

I've heard enough stories… I don't want to know anything about the pies I eat now :)

    • +2

probably not much meat and not actually beef. Doesn't really matter, still tastes good

      • +1

        still tastes good

That's all that matters to me lol

I used to peel the lid off the pies and then eat it, but these days you just don't wanna know what's in em, so I just eat it like a burger lol

        • +2

I lift the lid squeeze the sauce on top, slap the lid back on and munch away. Brilliant at the footy!

    • I checked today actually… it's 25%. same as the coles brand ones. the chicken one is even lower at 16% IIRC. Coles' chicken pies are 36%. lol

  • get yourself a piece at your local servo and give it a go

  • +6

Sorry OP not buying, eating something healthier for the next few days, Doritos!

    • +2

Got some as well. Crazy cheap. Baked pie for lunch and nachos for dinner.

    • +6

Peel the 'lid' off a pie. Grab one Doritos chip. Use chip to scoop out pie's meaty innards. Devour.

Fling the pie crusts out the window, cos it's all about the Doritos anyway.

  • why they dont have a vegetarian option?

    • +11

Wait for jv's reply. It'll be along the lines of: "don't worry - these pies don't contain any real meat anyway!" (bolded as per jv's posting style)

      :P

    • +3

That's what vegetarian pasties are for.

  • +3

Thanks OP, what a steal! Nothing beats four n twenties!

  • going to get downvoted, but how earth do people eat those things. Dear god

    • They pacify their taste bud with a pacifier, then!

    • +4

Most people save their down votes for jv so you don't have to worry

      • +1

        It's okay, i've got a spare :D

  • +1

    Mmmm, offal.

    • +4

Where I come from, we don't waste any part of animal we slaughter (maybe except for skin and testis). AAMOF, we've delicious dishes based on various offals. I guess maybe Australians should try some of those dishes, expand the meat industry, help introduce few new animal parts on the shelves. :D

      • +3

(maybe except for skin and testis)

        More testicles means more iron.

      • +1

That's right. Get on the wrong side of some ecomentalist and they'll give you an rear baking about how westerners waste food blah blah blah. And then foam at the mouth about pies and sausages not containing 100% prime cuts of beef.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/147829 some interesting discussion about what is inside meat pies…

  • Picked a pack up today. I prefer the frozen mrs macs ones but these should do just fine, trying the beef and cheese ones for the first time, wonder how they will taste…

  • Other 3 day offers include doritos all flavours for $1- Save $2something
and half price short cut bacon at the deli. Wish I had my phone to take pictures >_< sorry guys

  • +4

Slightly OT, but those Sargeants Premium Pies don't taste all that great, and they're premium!

Makes you wonder how bad their "normal" pies are lol

  • I have found the woollies branded pies to be the best of all the frozen offerings… not sure who makes them?

    • Try the Coles beef brand - not the el cheapo homebranded ones, but the 4 pack. They come in chunky too, but apparently they're not as good as the regular ones.

I read about it in Choice mag (they did a comparison of all brands and home branded ones, including Aldi etc) and that one came out on top. Then I used my pie-eating family members as guinea pigs and they agreed. $4 for a 4 pack, iirc.

  • +1

Buy these pies and keep me in a job lol

    • +1

Not until you tell us what's in it lol

  • Four n twenty angus are great, these ones not the best,

    my top 5 pies:

    vilis
    balfours
    four n twenty angus
    sargents
    big ben (extra tasty)

  • +1

Brought 10 packets of these today, should last me a while.
