    How legit is this?

    • +2

      Thank you for your question,

Please do not worry, we are completely legitimate. You can read the law below:
      http://www.vietnam-immigration.org.vn/news/view/policies-of-…
Decree No. 92/2007/ND-CP on detailing the implementation of a number of Articles of the Law on Tourism was issued on June 01, 2007 and entered into force on July 14, 2007 and regulated about rights and obligations of international travel enterprises, in which, international travel agencies has the rights to request a competent state agency to approve the entry, exit or transit of tourist as said in the Article 13 of the Decree. Accordingly, you can know why an international travel agency can request Vietnam Immigration Department to get visa approval letters for tourists.

You also have to pay a fee when arriving at the airport. Keep in mind this is in USD, not VND, despite being their currency. I paid in VND and they guy tool an extra $50. I went back and they were hostile and bullshitted their way out of it. Left it as I didn't want to end up in a Vietnamese prison.

It happened to many tourists over there.

    • +2

This isn't surprising, for whatever reason this whole operational requires USD and they don't hide this.

I'm surprised you didn't know you needed USD, the websites make this very obvious.

  • Generally these places are fine, when you arrive in Vietnam there is a section for Visa on arrival and they charge $45 USD.

My friend had to wait 30mins and it wasn't during peak, I've heard some people wait up to 2 hours.

I would just pay the $90 AUD and get it done in Australia that way its already in your passport and there are no fees on arrival.

    • Waited about 5 minutes earlier this month, it was great!

I have travelled to Vietnam three times and always get my VISA from the embassy. A lot of online sites are very shady (not saying this one is) and have seen people turned away. Also have seen people wait 3+ hours to be processed.

So much more convenient getting the VISA from the embassy and paying more but you get straight through

Agreed and recommended as I was in HCM city two weeks ago and there were about 50 people waiting for visa on arrival to be processed. I had the $90 visa issued in Australia (only took three days to get). It was worth the extra bucks to save time and hasttle for the two of us. Plus I then had a clear head to front the waiting taxi Mafia.

FYI it's now $95. Spoke to the Embassy a couple of days ago about it as I'm getting my Visa processed in a couple of a weeks time.

The $50 saving is a lot of Bún bò Huế for me :-)

No way could I justify $50 extra just to avoid having to sit at the airport for a few minutes extra.

        • @Flying Ace: $30 difference once you factor in all the fees etc. I live about 1km from the Embassy and would much prefer to pop in there on the way to work and have it done so I don't have to dither about at the airport. After a long flight the last thing I want to do is risk having a long wait because over $30.

        • @SirFlibbled:

Ahh if you're close that's fair enough. I would have to do it by post which adds more cost and hassle.
