  • The mobile hotspot is just part of the 5gb data isn't it? If so, that may be confusing for some who think they have 10gb all up

    • +1

Hi snagseb, thanks for the feedback, we will review our description so its not confusing.

  • -1

AT&T is a better US carrier for 3G on Australian phones.

  • +1

Already bought an AT&T prepaid card, looking for a second for my gf. Flying out tomorrow, can I get this in person tomorrow?

    • Hi Drakes_Misfortune, If you are flying out from Melbourne or Sydney International Airport, you can purchase it directly from our respective stores located after customs. For Melbourne we are located Terminal 2 International Departures (Airside)After Customs, Near Gate 2 and Victoria Secret. For Sydney we are located Terminal 1 International Departures (Airside)After Customs, Near McDonalds and Victoria Secret. The special however is for online customers only unfortunately.

      • Can't make an exception as I am flying out tomorrow? :(

        • Drakes, unfortunately we can't extend the promotion to our actual stores. Please note that the same sim card would normally set you back $80US, you can pick it up for $70AU tomorrow! You are still a winner.

        • @SimCorner: $70 for a month phone use is still pretty steep though

  • The question for me is how much does this cost if I just buy it off T Mobile when I arrive in the US. I'm all for convenience and this seems a fair price but interested to know

  • +1

If I buy this now, will it still be valid to activate and use early next year when I'll be travelling to the US (March)?

    • +1

I'd like to know as well - I'm going to NYC next year.

  • +1

We used SIM Corner earlier this year for two T-Mobile SIMs.

Great T-Mobile coverage in LA and New York. A feature/service is that you tell them your arrival date and SIM Corner will activate your SIM/service before your flight lands. So, your phone works on arrival.

Also, they can advise you, and your family, of the USA phone number(s) before you arrive in the USA. Very convenient.

We paid full price, plus the normal delivery fee of $8.50 - So this is indeed a great bargain at $40 delivered.

    • Good to hear the positive feedback! :)

  • Any chance of a discount on the $80 unlimited USA sim?

    • Unfortunately no, our promotion is only for the $70 plan. This is insanely cheap and whilst stocks last, right now they are flying out like hot cakes! DONT MISS OUT

  • Can we purchase without committing to an arrival date?
If so, how long will the simcard remain valid without activation?

    • Hi Chluy,

If you know your arrival date is going to be this year prior to 31/12/2014, you can purchase the deal now. When you find out your exact flight date, send an email with your purchase details to [email protected] and we will send out the sim card prior to your trip.

      • FYI, the site allows you use the coupon and set an arrival date until the end of 2016.
You either need to honour those purchases or make sure the code will not work in those cases.

        • Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

  • 3G: 1900, 1700/2100 Mhz to connect to the T-mobile network.

Just be aware that T-Mobile still use the 1700 MHz band for their 3G data coverage in some areas of the USA. Many Australian mobiles don't have that band, so data speeds revert to 2G. YMMV.

    • +1

      Hi MadMapMan

Thank you for your comment. You have made a very interesting observation - however do note that T-Mobile have been "reframing" their 2G 1700Mhz to their 4G 1900Mhz band. Hence areas where this has occured Australian 3G phones will 3G speeds. Please see the website below which details T-Mobile's network upgrade in greater detail.

Best article I've seen that documents and explains all the background and what they're doing.

Not even T-Mobile's forum reps could explain any of that when I asked the question.

        Kudos SimCorner rep!

  • +1

Thanks! Got friends going to US in 2 weeks, they will be thrilled :)

  • +1

Thanks. Glad I saw this. Was about to buy the $41 T-mobile SIM on travel gear (with only $10 credit).

    • Hi TtiGeR

Yes we are aware of numerous online Australian sim card providers that charge excessives amounts for very little value. At Simcorner we try and keep our prices relatively similar to what you would expect to pay overseas.

  • Awesome. Thanks.

  • +1

Will this work with the nexus 5 australia version?
Google website claims GSM 1900 MHz so i'm guessing it should be fine? We mainly want 3G while in NY, we fly out in 2 weeks.

    • +2

      Hi Chitmunkey

Yes the sim card will work just fine in Google Nexus 5.

        • The features can not be utilised in Germany, Belgium or Netherland - hence you will need to purchase other sim cards.

However, if you do not need any data and you just need calls and text - then we recommend that you look into our WorldSim product (http://www.simcorner.com/world-sim.html) - the benefit of this sim card is that you can keep one number as you travel through over 170 countries. Calls and text for the above listed countries are relatively reasonable ($0.19 per text and $0.35 per minute to call Australia).

  • Hi,
Does this work with the iPhone 5 bought in Australia (Global Model) Will 4G/3G work?
    EDIT: Will be in Hawaii

    • Same question! What size is the SIM card?

      • +1

        Hi bohdans and coxjon

Yes the sim card will work in your iPhone 5. Also, as the phone is a 4G phone - you will pick up T-Mobiles' 4G LTE speeds.

T-Mobile has nationwide coverage, including Hawaii - so you will have no issues.

The iPhone 5, 5s, 6 and 6L all take Nano size sim cards.

    Thanks just ordered :)

  • I have been to the states and have used Lycamobile prepaid sim cards on both my USA trips in the last 12 months.
Lycamobile coverage is great and it costs only USD$29.
It gives me unlimited USA calls and sms, it also includes a small amount of international calls and sms too.
If you want unlimited international calls you can buy the prepaid sim which includes free international calls and sms for only USD$39.
The best part of the Lycamobile prepaid is the unlimited data on the USA network.
Data may be a bit slow but it works and I had no problem with it in NYC and Chicago and LA airport.
I also used this prepaid sim cards travelling into country USA without any problems too.
Mind you, like Australia some rural areas may not have network coverage.
Set up was easy too. You may have to scout around to see which retailer stocks them once you land in the USA.
Be aware that some retailers may hike up the price and charge you extra if you are not local. I often walk away and go to another honest seller.

    • +1

      Hi he88388

Thank you for provding your personal experience. Lycamobile do have some reasonable priced plan. I believe the USD$29 plan that you noted include only 500mb of 4G data then it slows down to 2G?
And you are correct - we have heard numerous customers inform us that some local retailers try and charge an "activation fee" or do not sell a sim card to travelers as they are not locals. It is due to these issues, that Simcorner was founded - as we want to take the hassle out of buying an overseas sim card.

  • I need one for march

  • I've used T-Mobile prepaid in the USA on holiday trips in the last three years. Coverage was excellent in the states I visited (California, Colorado, Florida). Initially I was able to tether a laptop but about two years ago they locked tethering out and now it's an extra cost option :-( !!

    • +1

      Hi cornucopia

Thank you for providing your feedback - yes T-Mobile provides excellent coverage in all major cities in USA. Just as a note - T-Mobile has removed that limitation on Tethering and now Tethering is available on all their prepaid plans at no extra cost.

      • Thanks, bought one, Colorado here we come :-) !!

  • Just out of curiosity why do you need the IMEI number for activation? Not sure if I will be getting a new phone between now and then.

    • It says US only

      • It is a US SIM…. I think US only refers to the SIM card / users destination not the users current location. I did some research and it looks like TMobile just use this to help identify your account, you should be able to register with any IMEI and it should still work.

        • +1

          Hi akpv

We require the IMEI number as part of the activation process. However, this does not limit your ability to swap the sim cards between different phones.

  • +1

Just ordered 1 for me and 1 for my partner for our trip to the states next month - pricing beats AT&T

  • Brilliant!

    Thanks so much!

  • Hi guys, how about Globalgig? I am using them on every US trip and they work well for me. Cheaper at 5GB for 29 per month, no contract: http://www.globalgig.com.au/
Works also in Oz for the included data and in many other countries for per MB charges that are not bad at all.

  • Hi OP,

    1. How fast is postage if I order today? (To Melb)
    2. Will this work with an Australian iPhone 4?

    Thanks

    • +2

      Hi Viggen,
Postage will be sent before midday tomorrow from our melbourne distribution centre. It will work on an iPhone 4. Your iPhone 4 needs to be unlocked.

      • Good deal, thanks OP

  • Hi
I've ordered one earlier today and called in to ask for it to be expedited as I'm leaving this weekend
The guy at the store said that it shouldn't be an issue to send it out today, but that I should confirm with the [email protected]

I haven't heard back from support yet, so I was hoping that you'd be able help get the order shipped today

    Thanks

    • +2

I have let support know to reply asap. Thank yoi

      • +1

Thanks for your help. Just received it this morning

  • Does the UK three 25Gb still work in Australia, since three AU is gone.
also, does it need ID check when activating the UK three SIM and lebra de SIM ?
I just ordered a few from your site, hope they work~

    • +1

      Hi uccoffee

Yes the 25GB will work in Australia - as Australia is one of the 16 selected countries where the three network allow you to roam at no cost.

The UK sim cards do not require any ID checks - they become active when you first insert it your phone.

      • how about the germany lebra de SIM ?

        • uccoffee

You will need to activate the Lebara Germany sim card via their website, prior to use. The process is just a matter of filling out a basic form - noting your details and providing an address that you will be staying in Germany

  • -3

Honestly from my opinion… AT&T is a much more reliable network sure it may be $20 more, with only 2.5gb of data but if you want a network that works then go with AT&T..

    Sorry op

    • -1

Why negs??? maybe leave a comment if you don't agree with me!
Again nothing towards the op or store.

    • +1

I tried AT&T before I paid up for T-Mobile on three successive US trips. AT&T were worse than useless, had no idea of their own offerings and could not care less, Ma Bell at her worst, AVOID!!

  • I had heard good things about Sim Corner and had been planning on going to the sydney store on the way out of the country but seeing as this is online only looks like I'll be ordering it online instead. Is there anything other than putting the sim in my unlocked iphone 5s that I have to do to make it work. I don't have to change any settings on the phone or anything? it will just work when I land right ?

  • Hi rep
Last time I was in the US, it took a t-mobile retail outlet several sims before they found one that worked properly on my phone. Is there any way to test your purchased sims to make sure they will work/activate/log in before leaving for the US?

  • -4

Thank you everybody for your feedback and comments. Due to unprecedented demand we have unfortunately had to end the sale early. However please stay tuned as we will be running another sale on our $80 Unlimited Usa Sim Card option tonight!!

    • +2

Oi Original Post States offer runs until the end of September!

      • -1

Hi Melmac77, We indeed wanted this offer to run until end of September , but as we got a tremendous response from all the oz bargainers, we are currently out of stock of the $70 Option. Sorry for the inconvenience.

        • +1

Disappointed because it did not mention limited stock!
I am not going until end of October and was going to get 2 sims when i got home from work today.

        • +1

I was going to check with the optus shop to make sure my phone was unlocked and then purchase tomorrow. Won't be buying the $80 option too rich for me. FYI when you post on Ozbargain make sure you have enough stock to cover yourself otherwise you'll get a bad rep.

        • melmac77

thank you for that feedback. As you can appreciate this was our first promotion on Ozbargain and we were quite suprised with the feedback. As a result of this experience we will be better prepared for our next promotion and provide clear descriptions.

    • Damn, I didn't rush in either because I'm not traveling until the end of October.

    • +1

Rep, probably a good idea to mark this deal as sold out.

    • Damn, I snozed and I lozed.

  • Hey guys, my friend is in USA.
He can get you the similiar tmobile USA deal but his is the US$80 plan + US$15 international mobile calling plan. he can do it for you at US$50 inclusive of free shipping to your hotel in USA with tracking number. if you require it, let me know your sim size and travel date.. I will get him to help you. pm me.

    • Please elaborate….

    • Hi critical

We are aware of T-Mobile's $15 International Mobile Calling plan - however please note this option does not include Australian Mobiles!

      • +2

        Hi SimCorner,
You said earlier you were going to post a deal for your $80 card tonight??? It seems to be deleted now?

        • +1

Yes, I was waiting for this one too but now can't find any reference to it.

        • Hi brendo13

We are sorry for the delay. We have now placed the promotion for our $80 Unlimited Data package. Please see the following link

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162816

  • +2

So where is this new and wonderful promotion that was supposed to be launched last night? Still waiting. Hello Rep, anyone there?

    • Hi Sterio

We are sorry for the delay. We have now placed the promotion for our $80 Unlimited Data package. Please see the following link

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/162816

  • What does Australia wide express shipping mean? Should I be worried if I haven't got mine yet @ 2500? I ordered 10:45am Sep 24th. Order # 100000901 Tracking information not bringing up any detail.

  • I ordered the deal on 7:05am on 24/09/2014 (#100000866). It was shipped on 25th but I still haven't received it.

I called the 1300 number yesterday they promised to send me an email but I still haven't received any response.

I called the 1300 number again today which says "unable to connect to the party. account balance is low"?! I'm now a bit worried. (My phone is post-paid and working fine, just called Australia Post afterwards).

    • +1

Just received my SIM card. SimCorner did a delivery in person for me. While the initial delivery did not arrive, it's more likely a problem of Australia Post not SimCorner. I really appreciate the effort they made to resolve the delivery issue. I would more than likely use them again in future.
