The colorful one is also a bit slimmer as well.

Both contain an M9T 2.5" Samsung drive that can easily be installed into a PS4. Cheapest way to upgrade your systems storage.

    • thanks for the info about the hdd inside, very useful.

    • Is the drive in the Slim version actually thinner or is it just the case?

      • i did some further research (newegg, amazon) and yeah, same hdd different case.

i would probably lean towards this one if you're not planning to open it up, better protection for the hdd… but perhaps warmer running.

    • what is maximum hdd size for ps3?

      • 1TB.

  • Nice one. Just about the same as past Amazon deals, when AU$ was higher than now.

  • -1

I just bought the 1TB for $64, this one is better value

    • Thanks for the heads up about the 1TB.

Got it for 67.40$ including delivery.

Prefer the 1TB as I hardly ever have more than 500GBs on my ext HDD anyway.

    • +1

      That's the Desktop version.

    • +6

      No

For the hundredth time, your link is to a Desktop Drive not a portable.

      • +6

        Every time!

don't see why they don't use 2.5" and 3.5" then

    • +2

Quite simply, 2.5" = powered over USB, 3.5" = external power supply required

      • +1

3.5 generally cheaper too because you have to lug around a power supply and they're bigger/heavier.

    • Portable=2.5"

  • Bought one but a little worried the description says "The Seagate Expansion desktop drive provides…"

  • -3

This looks like the same Seagate External drive as listed here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/159012 or more recently at MSY for $79.00.

    What's the difference?

    • +1

This is a USB powered drive (portable with a 2.5" drive inside) and the other is a AC powered drive (with a 3.5" inside)

    • Not again…

  • For me it's coming as $129 plus delivery.

    • Have you applied the discount code?

The normal price is $129 (+ shipping) you get 20% off by using the above code during checkout.

      • Ok thanks, I feel stupid now.

        • Np. Better to check than waste $$ ^_^

  • This one should come to $107.20 (@ 20% off) - $2.58 (2% cashback) $104.62

    • That's what I thought when I made this comment yesterday but the shipping isn't discounted.

I specifically went though the checkout process to get the right price :)

      • So shipping is not included in the 20% like previous ebay sales?

        • Seems to be the case. I think people were complaining about it in the main GG eBay post.

Also GG charge shipping per item, not per order which is crap.

        • Also 2% cashrewards is calculated on the advertised sale price of the item. Not the discounted price. Excluding shipping and discounts. In the case of this item 2% of $129 = $2.58 cashback.

  • are these removable?

would this be preferable over the backup plus?
any difference other than backup plus looks nicer?

    • The internal hard drive is removable from the case. They both use the exact same 2tb 9.5mm sata drive. Buy whatever is cheaper if you are going to remove the drive and use in another device.

As for differences. Backup Slim. Smaller metal case with backup software app. Expansion portable thicker polycarbonate plastic case.

    • Like g said, if you are after the hard drive only go for this one but for use as a portable hard drive having owned both, I would spend the little extra for better build quality and MAC compatibility.

  • what is the largest size hdd internal u can put in a ps3?

    • 1TB

    • I have a 2tb spinpoint M9T in mine. I got mine from a seagate backup plus slim but this portable drive has the same one.

      Pretty easy to remove too!

  • Damn, I should have bought one. Anyone have a suggestion for the next cheapest price? Maybe Dicksmith with a code? Or is it likely a different eBay store will have a coupon this weekend?

    • Amazon would be the cheapest, seems to be $2 cheaper than when the last deal was posted
