actually no need to pay the $75 as the Dick Smith site doesn't mention its locked so if you complain to Vodafone they wave the fee (as I did). They need to tell you its locked and there is a fee to unlock.
By the way this one is the 635 not 630 that Dick Smith sell so if you need 4G 630 is not for you.
Did you call the Customer Care number (overseas call centre)? I just spent 43 minutes on the phone trying to get it unlocked. Was given a complaint # and reached the supervisor but they said that they can't waive the unlock fee. They also said that the system requires them to pay the correct amount ($75) before they can do the unlock? :-(

I understand 512k ram is enough but don't understand there is only 1 cam.

Might also consider the 366 - 4G but has 1gB of memory. for about the same price.

Had a Nokia Lumia Lumia 800, quite liked it, but will have
to turn in shortly.
Every chance of next job supplying phone… but can't be sure.
Don't want anything real fancy - similar to my good old Nokia
would be fine.
Will greatly appreciate any advice… not very modern phone or deal savvy.

Try the Nokia Lumia 520 or 630 phones. Can be had for < $100 plus unlock fee. Window phones are great. Good luck with finding a job.

You could try a Moto G if you need a dual sim phone
Under the circumstances, I now 'get' what you mean by a 'dual' sim phone.

Get this if you want 4G Cheap unlocked or get the 630 from dick smith pre paid to Vodafone for $99 for non 4G but decent phone

It's cheaper to buy the prepaid version from Dick Smith for $99 and then pay Vodafone $75 for the unlock code.
