  • I just got the email. Good deal but as a targeted offer is doest really belong here.

    Thoughts?

    • My 2 cents:

I don't normally read the PayPal emails (as I'm lazy and like getting my bargains from OzBargain).

What are the chances of PayPal sending that email to a few rather then just all account holders in Australia.

But as you said, as it is targeted, if people feel it's forum material, I'm happy for it to move.

      • Yeah it is very easy to overlook paypal emails. Lets see what the community thinks :)

        • If it is targeted and people try it regardless and do not get the extra credit it's not gonna go down well.

Personally I'll pass on the offer, if it were $50/$15 I'd be in but the savings aren't there and I find I waste more if I have it on hand mocking me with it's "spend me" look.

    • +3

It's not targeted, I came across it on the Aus PSN news feed - http://au.playstation.com/psn/news/articles/detail/item74094…

"We'll give you $15 for every $80 top-up into your wallet: no restrictions or top-up limits.

That's right. No small print, no middle man, it really is that easy: For every $80 top-up into your wallet, PayPal will give you an extra $15* to spend on PSN for whatever you like.

No limits or restrictions: For every $80 we'll give you another $15 with no top-up limit. So, if you top up $80 twice, you'll get $30; if you top up $80 three times, you'll get $45; and so on to infinity.

Until very recently it was only possible to top up your wallet using a card, but now we can offer you the security and convenience of using your PayPal current account.

What are the advantages of PayPal? It is one of the quickest, easiest and most secure payment methods for buying your favourite games directly on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3. Every Sony Entertainment Network account is linked to a "wallet" where your funds are stored. You'll be able to use these funds for purchases and subscriptions.

All you have to do is access PlayStation Store from your PS3, PS4 or from your PC, mobile or tablet (visit store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com), choose what you want to buy and select "Add Funds to Wallet" on the confirmation screen, where you'll be able to choose PayPal. And for every $80 you add… you'll get an extra $15 as a gift! You'll receive this as a code via email.

The promotion is valid from 9am (AEST), 1st October 2014 until 10:59am (AEDT), 1st November 2014 and the vouchers can be exchanged until November 30, 2014. So… what are you waiting for?

Please ensure you have read and understood the terms and conditions.

      • Please note, the $15 gift will not be added to your wallet automatically; instead you'll receive an email with the access code for your extra money within approximately 5 to 15 days."
  • +4

Not targeted. Playstation AU just tweeted this:
    Sony Article

    • Hmmmm. It appears you are right. Even tho sony's own T&C state you must be invited the article you link to mentions nothing of this.

Woot Woot! Now if SEN AU only had decent prices like SEN US :)

  • If I know this is coming, I wouldn't have bought PSN cards from DS few weeks ago with 10% off promotion.

  • -1

just for you who didnt read the T&C. 3.a) stated only eligible for people who do not previously have a psn account.basically the deal is for only new users.

    • +4

That's incorrect. The T&C are simply stating that to take advantage of the offer you need a PSN account. This account can be a new one or an existing one.

      • +1

my bad. i didnt read it properly

  • -4

can I put $80 in get the bonus and take the $80 out and keep the bonus?

    • +3

      what?

if you're trying to get $15 for free by somehow removing the $80 from your PSN account after… no… no you can't…

    • +3

Yeah, you can totally do that, you should put 300 in there!

      • +1

nah I didn't mean anything by that, just didn't want my $80 to be locked in there for good, say I put it in there, got the $15, then spent only $50 of it, can you take the rest out or is it locked now?

        • It doesn't come back out, that's the joke.

        • Once you've spent your money they won't give you any back.

  • +2

This is good if you want PS Plus, otherwise you just have 80 bucks stuck in the overpriced AU PSN.

    • Agree US PSN store is better

    • no, I use it for Music Unlimited streaming service as well.
I have never bought games on PSN.

  • PS+ is expiring this month so great timing.

Pity we didn't see any 'Buy 12 months get 3 extra' deals recently as that was what got me signed up in the first place.

    • Mine expires in January. Hopefully there should be some deals around Christmas for PS+ subscriptions.

  • There was a similar paypal/psn promo earlier in the year. Only problem is that your max wallet is $200, so you can't really stock up unless there's stuff you want to buy right now.

  • I wouldn't mind extending my PS Plus with this.

  • This worries me:
"6. Those Eligible Persons successfully performing a Top-Up according to the steps in clause 3 above, will receive a voucher code (“Voucher Code”), which expires on 30 November 2014, for the value of AUD 15."

Does it mean we need to add the $15 voucher to our wallets before 30 November 2014? Or do we need to spend the $15 in some digital content before 30 November 2014?

    • +2

      Just needs adding by then.

      • Thanks. Then I'm in.

  • hmm I'm tempted. But I haven't used my $50 top up yet!

  • +1

can i use this to buy playstation plus ? i have only a few days left.

  • I also want to know if we can use this to buy playstation plus? I have a month left…I think

  • Is it worth having money in the aus psn? I have not used the psn for years. Is the American store that much better? Are the Australian sales competitive?

    • You'll save that $15 and more in your first US game purchase on the US store.

  • +1

There's a similar US PSN promotion on now too: http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/us-store-credit/
Key difference: You have to actually SPEND $100 during October to be eligible, not just top up and let it sit there. Americans getting a considerably worse deal imo but then I'm not into pre-orders and have become rather accustomed to the waiting game when it comes to game prices.

  • this is going to kill DSE's PSN business if u can just top up with paypal online for exactly the same thing…

ive added $80 via paypal, now do i wait 2-3 for a voucher for $15 spare dollars?

  • Has anyone received a PSN message with the $15 voucher code yet?

    • +1

No I came here to check this too. No email as yet.

AU PSN site mentioned the email should arrive in 5-15 days after purchase.

    • No, I haven't either.

  • It's exactly 18.75% of a discount if you were to purchase $95 worth of PSN credits

The promotion is valid from 9am (AEST), 1st October 2014 until 10:59am (AEDT), 1st November 2014 and the vouchers can be exchanged until November 30, 2014

This means I might just do it before it reaches 1st Nov. I will have to wait until if there are better deals on AU PSN games before topping up more.

  • I m interested to get this for PS+. Will this promotion apply to me if my PayPal account email address is different from my PSN AU email addreas? TIA

    • +2

Shouldn't be a problem. There was a previous promo where you'd get $10 for every $50 top-up (that was in March of this year), and that worked fine for me even though my PayPal address isn't the same as my PSN email addy.

      • Thanks Griffin for your reply

  • ?? NO Email yets

    • Nope. I topped up with $80 using PayPal around 1am on Thursday the 2nd, so it's been exactly a week… I guess i'll give it the 10 working days it says and then call PlayStation support.

  • +1

I don't think you get an email. You get it via message within PlayStation mailbox when you logged on to PSN.

    • Yeah, you're right. In the previous promo (http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/en-au/promotions/top…), that's what happened. I had the voucher code in my PSN "received" box within a few days. It's taking a lil longer this time!

    • +1

      As per T&C
"* Please note, the $15 gift will not be added to your wallet automatically; instead you'll receive an email with the access code for your extra money within approximately 5 to 15 days."

  • Still nothing for me

  • I want to try this for some Mass Effect 3 DLC but it's kinda weird those that have already deposited $80 via PayPal still not getting their $15.

  • Sounds like I should wait until someone got their voucher then I would consider. Don't even if this deal is valid

    • I'm sure the deal is valid. They had a previous promotion earlier this year and I received the 2 voucher codes (as I topped up with $100) within a matter of days. I'm not sure why it's taking so long this time. It'll be 15 days for me on the 17th, so if I don't receive the code in my PSN inbox by then, i'll be calling up PlayStation Support.

  • +1

Hmmm. I just re-read the conditions on the promotion, according to point 8 from… http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/en-au/promotions/15-…

"The Promoter will use reasonable endeavors to send the Voucher Codes to Eligible Persons, via email to the email address linked to their SEN account, within 10 days of the date the Top-Up is made by an Eligible Person."

So, we should have received an actual email, and within 10 days.

After being on hold with PlayStation Support (1300 365 911) for half an hour, I finally spoke to someone, and they said to wait out 15 days, and if I don't receive an email (as in a proper email, not a PSN inbox message) by tomorrow, to call them back and they'll escalate it.

The guy I spoke to was in the UK even though it's meant to be AU PlayStation Support (he kept saying pounds instead of dollars), and according to their terms and conditions it takes 10-15 days.

Hopefully we don't all have to chase this up and the emails magically appear in the next 24 hours!

    • Thanks for the info. There's another two weeks left so I will wait until someone confirms it

      • I got my code just before 1am (about the same time I topped up on the 2nd)… exactly 15 days.

It arrived as a regular email from [email protected] at the same email address which I sign into the PSN with.

The rest of you guys should start getting yours (if you haven't already)!

  • Got mine around 1am also

  • got mine in the email too

  • I'm at 13 days on no email so it must come right on the 15.

  • So I haven't received my code and I'm up to day 17 of waiting, calling playstation support was pointless… They can't help and advised I contact paypal… This'll be fun…

    • PlayStation Support should be able to check your account history and see that you topped up with $80 (or more) using PayPal, so they should be able to do something for you.

The guy I spoke to said to call back after 15 days (seems the promo is actually run from the UK and according to them it takes 10-15 days, whereas on the AU PlayStation site, the T&C say up to 10 days), and he'd "escalate the claim" for me.

PayPal will probably just tell you to contact Sony.

I assume you've checked your spam/junk mail folders for the email address you sign into your PSN with?

  • I didnt get the email as well…:(

  • Well just topped up. Hopefully I get my email/voucher in 15 days.

  • so many people didn't get their emails. Waht's up with PSN? Don't they want any business? $80 is a lot to $15 back.

the last offer was much better

  • 18 days for me and no email.

    • Called sony they said contact paypal. Lodged a dispute and 7hrs later the email with the code arrived.

  • Hah, I must be one of the lucky ones, I got 2 codes from them , free $30 credit added!

    • Got a second overnight as well. Nice.

  • Got my code by email right on the 15th day

  • Got my code on the 15th day too

  • I got a code on the 16th October

  • Added another $80 yesterday afternoon and got an email this morning with the new code… much quicker this time

  • Pleasant Surprise! I got TWO $15 codes (about a week apart) applied them both and both worked ($80+$15+$15).

Was that a mistake by Sony? Has everyone got TWO codes with a single $80 top up?

    • yep, i got it too. quite happy with the outcome really.

    • How can that happen?

  • still haven't got the code since top up at 18th :(

    • 27-18=9.

      • I received 2 voucher codes on 28th and 5th. Sony is awesome

  • I topped up twice, and got my 3rd bonus this morning :)

    • May I ask about the third bonus, when did you top up the second time to receive that? and is it because you topped up the 2nd time it gave you a third?

  • I topped up last day 31/10 11:30pm LOL.

Not sure when you get the voucher

  • Anyone still waiting for their $15 code? I topped up two weeks ago and still nothing.

    • +1

Yes I topped up on 24 October and still nothing.

      • What t odo if you still haven't got it yet?

        I recharged on 31 Oct

        • According to one of the comments above, wait til after the 15th day, then contact PSN CS. If you still don't get it within a couple of days, lodging a complaint to paypal apparently did the trick.

I still haven't got mine, topped up on the 23rd of October… around 13 days atm, so i'll wait another two days before talking to PSN CS.

        • Wait another 10 days.

        • I was speaking with PS Support on another matter and they said promotion is from Paypal so if I don't have my code when 15 days are up, from when deposit was made, contact Paypal and they should fix it up.

  • I topped up on the 20th of October, more than 15 days ago. Still haven't got my code.

  • Ditto - recharged on the 20th October and still no sign of the voucher :(

  • Who do you contact at Paypal about this? I had a look at the topics to email about and nothing really falls under this.

  • I just got my voucher. I wonder if 2nd one will come lol

  • +2

    Still haven't got mine…

  • +2

I contacted Paypal the other day and they said SEN is fulfilling the offer and I should contact them. I spoke with SEN today and they said we are aware of an issue and it is being investigated and everyone will get their code. Asked for time frame or how we would be updated and was told that's all we know at present but you will get your code.

  • So anyone had any update? I still haven't received mine and Paypal support told me to contact Sony.

    • +3

I just got off phone with Playstation Support and they said that the issues has been fixed and they started sending out the codes yesterday but if I don't have my code by Tuesday to call them back (again).

      • Hope you're right. :)

        • Still nothing on my end.

        • @Yuri Lowell:

          Ditto :(

        • @stilted: Yup, still nothing and it's Tuesday. I think I'm gonna give up, not worth the constant emails/phone calls for $15 credit. I won't be going for these promos again in the future because they're too unreliable. I don't even need $80 sitting in my PSN right now… Waste of time and money.
