So much for the $2 shipping deal yesterday… :(

I could have used that to buy 2 more toothpaste squeezers…..

    • +5

nothing like attacking the tube from both ends. let me know how you get on.

  • +2

Would be nice if they had sent the $20 voucher from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/163871. I haven't received mine yet.

    • Same here - still no sign of $20… we meant to get it by today

  • +6

If there's one thing I've learnt from Ozbargain - Eneloop. Eneloop Eneloop Eneloop.

    Eneloop.

    • +1

      Eneloop?

    • Eneloop doesnt "Endloop" here in OZB

      • Maybe their head office is next to Apple, on Infinite Loop.

    • And that cheap shipping before Friday means free shipping Friday.

EDIT: Ahh damn, assumed this was a DS deal again haha, carry on…

      • This deal is brought to you by Dick Smith^

It is a DS deal :)

But it's Saturday and I just got 16 AAAs for $20 delivered :)

Even cheaper than my Turnigies :)

    • @ carwashhair

It's an ENDLESS loop of buying them, using them and hoarding them.

Dont know why this post didn't show up under carwashhair post.

  • if you bought in 2 separate transactions, do you get 2 x $10 vouchers? or 1 per account?

    • 1 per account. You could try and make another account.

      • Where does it specify 1 voucher per account? Can't seem to find the T&Cs…

It currently reads 'bonus $10 Catch voucher with EVERY item', could be interpreted as a $10 voucher per pack of Eneloops you buy

        • -1

It doesn't actually say, That's how it has been on previous promotions like this.

        • @unity1: This is not a previous promotion.

Stop spreading around misleading information if you are unsure.

The banner clearly said bonus $10 catch voucher with every item

          The small print is:

Vouchers ( Yes with an s implying plural) will be emailed by 17/10/2014.

You may get multiple vouchers but will most likely only able to use one voucher for each transaction in the future.

        • +1

@highdealer: There is a reason why they are called "CATCH". See this previous promotion where they clearly specify 1 voucher per order per account, but notice how they use the word voucher and vouchers http://static.catchoftheday.com.au/assets/0000/0377/542d0522…

My advice is to contact live chat and confirm how many vouchers you should receive with your order and then keep an email copy of this incase you need to refer to it later on.

        • @unity1:

good idea to check but i agree with @highdealer

re cotd service, a free shipping code didn't work but they refunded cost with bonus $10 credit :)

  • +1

Sorry, where it mentions $10 bonus?

  • +1

I've never bought from cotd before is it a harrowing experience?

    • +1

You might catch more than you bargained for.

    • +1

I've never had an issue, shipping is usually within as week (to Sydney) and on the one occaision that it was going to be longer I was warned via email. I have also had to send a few items back for exchange and refund, painless and no problems experienced doing so.

    • Not usually, though this deal is "powered" by and looks to be delivered by Dick Smith.

  • AAA bought, have enough AA eneloops already - thanks OP

  • +3

    must resist

    still trying to resist

  • Referral code has been exhausted :(

    • I've updated the referral code, try that one.

      • same thing man

        • +1

The codes are capping out at 10 signups (not purchases). The code in my post should work. Other than that, use the random codes in the grey box called Referral Links.

  • Can you recommend a proper charger for these? Not the timer ones, the proper ones that charge until its 100%.

    • +1

They have the Eneloop chargers on the same deal today (with the $10 bonus voucher):
      http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/42136/product/eneloop-…
      http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/42136/product/eneloop-…

      • I read somewhere in a previous deal here that these are not the "smart" ones. They just charge for as long as you have them plugged in. So if you leave them overnight they just waste power and heat.

        • +2

          CC16 is a smart charger.
CC18 is a timed (dumb) charger.

        • @caprimulgus:

I think on one of these forums it mentioned that the 'quick' chargers ruined the batteries - is this true or is it something pretty minuscule that someone who isn't much of a battery expert would notice?

        • +1

          @tori:
I thought the quick charger cut out when the batteries were fully charged but the "dumb" charger would just keep on going until a timer kicked in? (I'm new to the eneloop scene)

        • @caprimulgus:
That is the information I have been looking for. Thanks :)

        • +1

          @tori:
Probably depends whether you're talking generic quick charger or Eneloop quick charger?
I've got 3 of the Eneloop quick chargers and never had an issue! They have individual cell charging and a peak cut off!

        • +1

          @tori:

a quick charger can be harmful to batteries if the temperature of the cells it's charging get too high. you'd probably want to check the charging rate against the optimal/safe charging rate for the batteries.

i would wager that, given they were made specifically for eneloops, they probably chose an acceptable charging rate, so probably not too bad.

        • @caprimulgus:
          @Snoop
Ok awesome - cheers for the help!

    • The Duracell charger CEF23AU should be good for the Eneloop I would think?

      http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Charger-Rechargeable-Batterie…

      http://kk.org/cooltools/archives/12511

  • Thank you for posting. I just impulse bought one after resisting getting them for years but the price is good… I have about a dozen at home and I don't think I'll get close to recharging them 1000 times :P

  • thanks..

  • +11

I got two packs yesterday on the Dicksmith deal and got charged $2 for postage. I hope I find $2 on the ground somewhere so I feel better about myself after seeing this deal.

    • +11

How do you reckon I feel? I bought one pack, then later on decided I needed another. That's $4 I squandered! I can't look at myself in the mirror…

  • +1

Live chat said they could not see anything about any limits on the number of vouchers. So it appears if you order 5 packs you might receive 5 vouchers???

    • wow! better get in quick before they change those T&C's

      • +1

The problem is that I think the COTD website only accepts 1 voucher at a time.

        • +1

Still, you get 5 vouchers to use on 5 different occasion.

  • damn stupid COTD do tihs deal after DSE. I bet they have stock not like DSE?

    • +2

This deal is brought to you by Dick Smith^

  • Are these made in Japan or are they the new made in China ones?

    • China

      • +2

Damn. Was looking forward to some radioactive batteries! :p

  • I think I read before that the chocolate ones are somehow inferior eneloops because they're manufactured somewhere else? can anyone with some knowledge comment? (also, whats the worst that can happen using a 'dumb' charger? battery damage, reduced number of recharges, etc?)

    • +2

I thought the colour is only skin deep? aren't these the same batteries below the fancy packaging?

    • +6

The chocolate ones are the newest generation(4th generation) and are manufactured in China. Panasonic bought Sanyo(who were the original manufacturers of the eneloops) and moved manufacturing there.

All the previous eneloops(from 3rd gen and before) were manufactured in Japan and have been proven to be good performers over a long time. The verdict is still out on the newer generation eneloops especially since they've moved manufacturing somewhere else. So I don't think they're said to be definitely inferior, just that there hasn't been enough data points on them(because they're new) to make a conclusive answer.

  • The receipt says dispatch will be in 2-4 weeks.

  • Have to wait till the 17th to get the vouchers? was hoping it would be instant….
    I got AAA couldn't resist
edit: it just came through, woohoo! 2x8 packs for $20 is amazing
Now the question is should I buy another 2 for $20…. that would make it 6 in total over 2 days including the ones I have at home.. oh god help me LOL

    • so you bought one pack first separately at the full price, then bought a second lot after you received your voucher?

      • yup. $10 credit takes about 5 minutes to reflect in your account

        • +3

been an hour here and no credit yet

        • @cyrax83, are you sure it's not the referral credit?

        • @jdf:

ahh not sure it might have been the referral credit… but basically after 5 mins of my first purchase I got $10 voucher.

        • Referral credit takes only minutes to come through. I got this last week when I bought the Rio undies deal and it came within 5 - 10 minutes. The extra bonus credit on this deal will come through before 17/10 according to the T&C's.

        • @sparkles:

maybe its slow today for some reason, my referral count got updated almost instantly but credit is still 0.

  • Bought another set of AAAs.
    Thanks OP!

  • if only that was actual chocolate..would buy

  • Haha

  • +2

    Thanks OP,
Got some AAA using your sign up link, then got some AA using the $10 credit, so $19.96 for 8 x AAA and 8 x AA delivered. Cheers

    • Cheers! Stacking this deal works out really well! And even better when more free credit turns up later on.

  • yeah ordered AA and AAA ..:)

  • +2

The bargain is marked as Expired, but the link still works (at least for me)

    • woops! thanks

  • +3

Oh wow. Great work OP. Used your referral link to purchase the AAs, then applied the $10 credit to get the AAAs for about $5. That's world class!

  • +1

    I did the same, both AA+AAA = $19.96. That's BARGAIN!

  • +1

just got one from DSE yesterday.. must resist..

  • I did the same, wooohoooo!!!!

    "MattyD 12 min ago new

  • so, do i have to create a new account with the referral to get the $10 COTD voucher?
or can i use an existing COTD account ?

    • I created a new one TT. Took 30 secs.

    • yeah sorted cheers thanks op

  • This deal keeps marking itself expired when it's not. I'm so confused.

  • +1

    http://imgur.com/eHSQ41P

    • Looks like the AA's have moved into Almost Gone status.
