    • With… $1099 is the apple store price

  • +7

A lot of stars need to align for this to make it work.

  • +2

Seems like a cluster (profanity) of crap jumble together. All you need is one thing to go wrong and everything falls apart.

Would be awesome to get that 27% to work though, so awesome, much wow.

  • -4

So can someone confirm that U can't just rock up at DS and receive 21% off?

    • +2

did you even read the first post? you need to purchase DSE gift cards from Coles!

  • +5

FYI, the starthere cash back has some exclusions as well…

Excluded products: Cashback is not paid on Samsung, Apple or Chromecast products.

  • Great deal and effort from the OP! I managed to get my MBP on Sunday with the 10% off + 14% discount, otherwise I'd be snapping this up :)

  • Thanks for post OP!
Picked up my gift cards from various coles around the campbelltown area - had to goto 6 stores in total
    well worth the effort!!!

    • +1

You probably wasted more in fuel.

      • +6

nah not even close, $125 extra value added for the cost of $5 fuel.

    • haha.. ur the dude that took them from the square im guessing? (lol) - did you go to mt annan or camden?

      • LOL soz. Square only had 10 so went to both Mt Annan and Camden to grab more.

Camden had plenty but didnt have the promo on top of stand. asked the checkout chicks to confirm and they had no idea.

Where u end up getting yours from?

        • I ended up not getting one…. Think I'm going to get an old mbp and add ram and ssd that I already have in an older macbook that my Mrs smashed last week. Lol

Do the $100 gift cards also have the bonus?

    • -2

      $50 only.

      • +1

Sorry, looks like i was wrong
wish i knew earlier than $100 would work too!

  • +1

Done, got 21% off after raiding 2 Coles worth of Gift Cards. The feeling of paying for something with 19 cards and then a laptop only costing $10.10

  • Managed to grab a Macbook air from Castle Towers. Still some gift vouchers from the Coles there, and there's a DSE there too.

  • +1

For those who did this… impressive, most impressive.

  • +5

Okay :) found some GCs at Coles DY, (10) and then the rest (19) at Coles Manly. The dude who served me at Dick Smiths laughed his head of, and the receipt was well of 3m long. Photo of GC/receipts

Okay a few things to note:

    1. It's easiest to call the store and ask if they have the cards in stock. I called 5 stores in SA and 3 of them do not even stock them, the attendants are not even aware coles are selling DS gift cards.

    2. If you can't find them at the stand, ask at the counter. At my local store, they are stored behind the counter.

    3. If you need some more, again ask at the counter. I managed to get 10 more at the counter.

    4. If you're using ING payWave, it's best to just split 1 part of $99 and pay the rest with another method.

    5. If the DS store does not have a model in stock, ask if they can order it for you. I did this and will get it on Tuesday. Same advertised price.

    6. Although not advertised, the $100 cards are in fact $110 in value. I bought them by accident and thank God they still work haha. Proof

    7. BONUS: longest receipt ever!

And finally, even though the Mac sale is almost ended, these are relevant for future DS sales and until the Coles DS gift cards promo ends. Have fun!

    • +1

haha, my receipt was almost 3m long too :P
      Such good value.

  • I had to go to two coles stores in Wollongong for 29 cards. Picked up mid range rMBP 13".

    Thanks for the deal OP!

ROFL the cheapness of people is astounding to buy more overpriced obsolete shiny shiny Apple crap.

  • I can confirm that $100 DSE gift cards come with a $10 bonus. Means you won't need to buy so many cards!

Just cleaned Coles Chatswood Westfield out of $100 cards, but they still had at least 10 $50 cards left.

I'm imagining a slow-mo scene in a movie of the event, of the used gift cards bouncing off the ground as they are dropped, just like the shell casings of bullets in a Rambo or similar movie.

  • Quite a few stores including Baulkham Hills and others around that area had many left..
Also the new Coles store in West Ryde has a few $100's left.

  • Just wanted to know if anybody has confirmed whether the Dicksmith online store will accept 30+ giftcards as payment. I don't want to buy more than a thousand dollars worth of giftcards and find out I can't use them.

    • +1

I used 22. It was slightly nerverwracking as I was wondering whether it would go balls up each time I entered in another gift card number and pin.

      • Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately Coles did not have enough giftcards so I missed out.

  • +1

I wish I knew that $100 works! What a long wait for the store staff to put in 40 $50 gift cards. Could have saved half of the time!

  • Luckily I bought last Sunday. DSE had 24% discount without any hassles. :)

    • this was almost as good and was available to a far wider public :)

  • -1

dang… out of the country at the moment… do you reckon dse will match the 12% advertised price for the old mac mini early next week? i don't see why they should reject an offer from someone to buy an old model at a price they advertised for only a couple of days ago…
if not, i will just wait for them to have another sale on the new mac mini and use my dse gc's then

  • +1

Just went to my local coles in Vic and they had no idea about the 10% DSE Giftcard promotion (no signage/instructions). Tried one and it worked so I bought a bunch (of $100 cards). It prints that the extra value has been added on the receipt.

Went online and stuck in an order for a 13" air. Used the multiple gift cards no problems and should be collecting tomorrow hopefully!

Coles is open till midnight. It's still doable!

edit: Travelling overseas in a months time so get the TRS as well :)

  • thanks..

  • +1

Oh my god $100 gift cards worked!? I spent so long today calling up stores and getting 26 $50 ones… Still saved $130 I guess… :(
Also my receipt nearly reached the ceiling of my house! Staff was really cool and friendly with the whole thing even though it took like 20 minutes to process the order

  • i went to few coles in vic and none of them got $50 giftcard and they refuse to put extra credit on the $100 gitfcard…

    • they don't "put" the extra credit. the system does it automatically. when I bought mine, they scan it like any other item and that's it.

    • +2

the $100 cards have $110 value- just not advertised.

      • +1

I reckon its better to buy and stock up the gift cards now and use it on the deal, when advertised.

  • -1

Hey if you buy a laptop in gift cards, can you still claim the tax back?

    • Yes, when you leave the country with the item you can claim the GST back.
However, if you bring it back in you need to declare it and pay any duty imposed.
Others have said that this is not a positive outcome.

      • No I mean income tax back for work purposes.

        • The payment method should have no impact.

        • @roughana:

You sure on that? Because the payment was for gift cards, not a laptop, so how can you claim half of $2500 back on a laptop that was not payed for in cash?

        • @thorton82:
I could answer that after spending 4 years at Uni, incurring a HECS debt and a earning a few letters after my name. Better talk to someone else.
