    To experts out there or rep. I have Nex 5 and sel18200mm. When trying to take a picture of my child on stage from the back end of the hall where the only light is on stage, it has a hard time focusing mainly due to I think at 200mm it is at f5.6. If it can focus but my child moves, then the picture is not clear. Since the A7S have high ISO, will I be able to use this with my sel18200mm lens and take a picture of my child while she is moving or it is much better to find a telephoto lens that has f2.8?

      You need to take on some photography lessons mate. But first try to change your camera mode from AUTO to SHUTTER PRIORITY mode, then try shoot with shutter speed of over 1/125 or higher.

        I didn't give all details what I tried. I did try a higher shutter speed but then picture was dark so I tried adjusting ISO and Aperture but can't capture a clear moving shot. I guess the problem with Nex 5 is there are no separate buttons externally to make these adjustments and the lighting on the stage can change so I have to try and rush and make adjustments.

          well if you tried higher iso and shutter speed but still cant keep up with the movements and lighting, then i suggest you need to get a faster lens, a constant f/2.8 telephoto lens would be good.
          Also, your NEX 5 is a bit outdated now? upgrade to a newer system if you got cash to spare :)

          I didnt read your comment very well, why dont you get the A7 instead and use the cash difference to get yourself a nice f/2.8 or faster lens?

          @mcp2kpro: Thanks mcp2kpro. I was thinking the same thing on upgrading my camera to A7s (higher ISO) but wondering if my sel18200mm lens will work with A7s and capture the moving shots I want. Last thing I want is buy another camera and lens. I already spent around 2k for the nex 5 and 200mm lens. I guess I may need to go in store to ask the camera guys and make sure if it does not work, I can return the items.

          it will be compatible since they both are E-mount system. But it wont be the best option for you as the 200mm f/5.6 still not perform well in low light even if your A7S can handle higher ISO. The A7 is more than sufficient for your requirements and you can use the spare cash for faster lens, is my suggestion. Cheers

          @naira: Sel18200mm will work, but it is not a full frame lens.
