You would need to find an $8 (or less) item with free shipping, since shipping isn't discounted.
Eg. A $4 item with $8 shipping costs $8, as only $4 is discounted.

All good, the store credit has appeared on both accounts (after the purchase confirmation email came through on mate's).

@CatchoftheDay: Probably around 20 minutes from the time the purchase was made, he received the purchase confirmation email. Checked our accounts a few minutes after the purchase confirmation email and the store credit of $10 was there.
It would seem that the time in which the purchase confirmation email is received varies, as I made a purchase about an hour ago and the purchase confirmation email came pretty much instantly after I submitted the purchase.

Hi Rep, does the coupon work for groceryrun or just cotd? I'm not a new member and haven't placed any order, when I tried to use the code on groceryrun, it says conditions have not been met.
