True Protein are running their free sample offer again, which proved fairly popular last time around: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/149444.

Four different flavours of their NZ sourced whey protein concentrate are available: French Vanilla, Rich Chocolate, Iced Chai and Strawberries & Cream. First sample is free including delivery, additional samples are $2 each.

Site says Facebook like is required, however I managed to checkout without liking their page. Per rep comments below, Facebook like required.

I ordered 2kg of WPI during their recent BOGOF offer and was happy with the purchase.

I didn't complete the transaction, however it looks like you may be able to add a sample to an order less than <$150 and still get free shipping on the total order.

Hey Guys, sorry I'm a bit late to the party.

We are offering free samples again AND we do check to see if you have liked our facebook page PLUS we are actively checking to see if there have been multiple orders to the same address and reserve the right to not send the sample in this case.

Unfortunately, we have received a massive number of free sample requests (from ozbargain) and very few corresponding facebook likes. We have to review every order and ensure that the like was made.

If you have no intention of adding a like, or if you have already had a free sample, please save us the extra work of having to check your order. We appreciate the "It doesn't hurt to try" mentality, but in this case, it does hurt us. We still need to review every order, and although we have a system in place - we are a small company and this costs us valuable time.

Should we continue to receive a huge number of ozbargainers trying for a free sample without performing the very reasonable conditions we've set out, we will simply have to remove free samples from our website altogether.

That would be a shame, because as is evident from many of these comments and the comments from those who received free samples in our last post - the product is awesome and we would love to give everyone an opportunity to try it out!

    I usually buy from VenomProtein but I really like the initiative shown by TrueProtein here. Surprised that the shipping fee was waived as well. $12 worth of value for free, damn. Ordered the iced chai flavour sample, see how it goes. Thanks for the link OP!

      Iced Chai is fantastic - especially if you're feeling a bit burned out on vanilla or chocolate.

      All of our flavours are much more subtle in that they really aren't all that sweet.

    Any experts on this stuff. I am just starting to use a little protein after sport as I needed a faster recovery time and it helped.
    Isn't this one a little high in the carbs 1680kj per 100g for just protein? Or is there a reason for it. I'm comparing to some I see with 300-500kj per 100g. Usually the ones I see with this carb level are labelled as some sort of energy/bulk formula. (i'm comparing similar protein content)

      500kj per 100g doesn't make any sense.

      If you had 100g of pure protein that would be over 1600kj. So the ones you're looking at wouldn't have much protein in them at all. Unless you're confusing calories with kilojules?

      As soon as you add the free sample to your cart, you should get a message stating that you are getting it for free.

      When you go to checkout, you'll see that the shipping cost is cancelled out and the amount owed is $0.00.

      Simply choose to pay by bank transfer and once we've checked facebook for the like, we'll approve to send out your sample.

    Have their products been independently tested?

    You can't trust these supplement powder companies to supply exactly what their labels say:

    A quick look at their website reveals these problems with their WPCs alone:

    • NZ WPC is ~$11/kg more expensive than AUS WPC which is a huge mark-up.
    • Various prices across their website are inconsistent.
    • NZ WPC contains 79.8 % protein versus AUS WPC containing 76.0 % protein however they have identical amino acid profiles.
    • The shared amino acid profile sum totals to 110.3 g per 100 g.

        Some users here actually follow up receipt of a free sample with a purchase if they like the product. Others still are consumers of protein powders and are looking for a bargain. Both groups I am trying to assist by informing them of what I have found.

        Frustrates me that we all use this site to get bargains but there is always some keyboard warrior that has to ruin it for everybody.

        I'm not ruining anything, except maybe True Protein's façade.

        These guys are giving away something for free so people can make their own judgment yet we have this chump trying to spoil the party.

        There is more to judge to a protein powder than its taste — like whether or not you're getting the actual protein on the label. This should be determined by an independent lab test.

        I can see that you signed up 6 min before making that post and it was your first action: This is highly suspicious of a sockpuppet.

          We have sent out thousands of free samples to people on the ozbargain community and are not responsible for their actions on this site.

          I have asked around and can confirm that the comment was not posted by anyone in the office.

          Certainly, the tone of the comment was not something I could condone and it is clear that you are simply acting in the best interests of the community.

          We have independently certified our proteins and will continue to do so. If you have any suggestions on how we can be more transparent please pm me to let me know.

        Common industry practice or not it is nonsensical to quote a figure to 2 or 3 significant figures if the error is ~10 %.

      The Rich Chocolate was great, nice flavour.
      The French Vanilla, not so great for me, not enough flavour.

      I mixed both exactly the same, with 200ml water. It suggests 150-250ml on the pack.

      Still to try the Iced Chai.

    Got it last week. I bought 2 rich chocolate packs. Put it with llw fat milk and taste really good. Excellent customer service.
