I wonder if Kogan is reading this.. (ipads… )???

    • +2

also mobile phones, kids love to play with their parents phones, so they should define as toys too !

  • -2

    Don't let tom know ;)

    • +2

Not the type of weather for BBQ's anyway.

      • +1

I had a good experience with tom #nohomo

no problem at all with him… even though it took a while, all worked out in the end.

  • Terms from 20% off Toys which was in July are here: http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Sunday
    (note: used to include consoles)

  • Probably only the 'console' category though? Won't stop the odd few putting them under categories.

    • Probably. They've only used categories as the filter in previous Sunday deals.

  • +4

Hmm, perfect time to buy some new legos

    • +2

      or Barbies..

    • +54

      LEGO is singular. Never plural.

      • +3

or LEGO is also the plural, like ninja?

        • +2

Technically, it's the company name and an adjective, but the Danes allow modern usage to extend to a noun. I can't remember if it's singular or plural noun though.

        • +6

@damion: like how Aussies call Myer, Myers?

        • +7

          @Tal_Shiar:

Because mike myers is his name.

        • @damion:

technically not an adjective, its (almost) Danish for 'play good'

        • +5

          @effgee:

"If the LEGO trademark is used at all, it should always be used as an adjective, not as a noun. For example, say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGO BRICKS". Never say "MODELS BUILT OF LEGOs"."
          http://aboutus.lego.com/en-us/legal-notice/fair-play

          Also 'play well'.
"Superman does good - you're doing well."

        • @RI4V4N: You mean Mike Myers? as his surname is actually Myers - but the family name for the original owners of Myer was, and still is, Myer. (I believe they are part owners again now)

So you could technically use it as Myer's as it is their possession and would work in the right circumstance.

But it was part of the Myer Style Guide/Brand Guide, or at least it was 7+ Years Ago (similar to the Lego legal notice referenced below) It was not to be said as Myers, written as Myers etc. By staff at least, It used to be drummed into them at Training.

        • @PonyTable:
these days there is no training, so the staff say Myerz

        • @durd0008:

I didn't realise their grammatical preferences.

        • +4

like how Aussies call Myer, Myers

The store was originally called Myer's

      • +3

        Fishes

      • +9

It's plural if you want a tasty pasta sauce

      • Same goes with people who clearly aren't Pokemon fans referring to multiple Pokemon as 'Pokemons'. Grinds my gears.

        • +2

This is an actual thing that happens to you with regularity?

        • @Strand0410:

Yeah man! People who aren't fans of Pokemon spend all day talking about Pokemons. Drives ol' Shiny Mew crazy.

    • Hmm, perfect time to buy some new legos

$500 LEGO kits will be in abundance

  • +1

Damn it's only toys! Thought we are getting another 20% off everything! That would be awesome!!

  • If buying from a company that provides an invoice, would it be eligible for TRS?

    • +1

Can't see why not. As long as it has your name/address and the ABN of the seller.

      • +1

Yeah it will be fine. If it fits the TRS requirements ($300+, GST, etc), it can be claimed.

Having your name and address on the invoice is only required if the invoice is over $1,000.

  • +23

Don't worry it includes pillow pets

  • Hmm, didn't know Costumes were toys, in fact eBay categorises it under "Clothing, Shoes, Accessories"

  • good thing i didnt buy amazon toys for xmas….

  • +6

    Repeat history please, Kogan.

    • shall pm kogan

  • +1

Eneloops and Chromecasts count as toys right? Can never have too many!

  • +8

Kids these days treat iPads as toys…

    • +1

Kids treat most things as toys…

I wonder if this deal includes adult toys…

      • Probably not the kind of adult toys you're referring to, but it should include hobbies for some of the bigger boys toys.

        • Like cars and motorbikes

    • +1

You say that as if you grew up 20 years ago, and only used iPads for serious matters

      • +2

        I wasn't born 20 years ago haha

Never had a phone until in year 10 at high school
No smart phone until year 12 so I guess when I see primary school children with iPads…I wonder what happened to reading, playing with Lego, blocks or even cardboard

        • +9

The same thing that people who had a Ericsson GA628 in 3rd year uni think when they look at you with a phone in Year 10, and a smart phone in year 12…Bloody Kids these days!

  • +21

kids love playing with gift cards right?

  • Perfect time for those who wanna buy a Bu** Plug as a gift for their bosses ;)

    • +23

Hmm? How many bosses out there need a plug for their bulbs?

      • +1

The same amount of people who wont have a boss almost immediately after gifting theirs a bulb and/or bu** plug?

  • +1

All my batteries will be toys hehe

  • +1

Time to grab a Nexus 7

  • +1

Hope DWI put their OnePlus One in the toy category huehuehue

  • +1

grabbing the popcorn and waiting for all the 'toy' iPads, iPhones and consoles..

  • +1

Can it be used on bikes?

    • +2

      Toy bikes, yes.

      • What about real bikes (like the last 20% off Toys deal)

        • Yes, if it's in the Toy category - that's how it works. :)

    • I bought a child's bike last time.

    • Nope, doesn't work on normal bikes not listed in the toys category, in case anyone was wondering.

  • So anything in the toys category minus consoles? This could be good :-)

  • +8

So what happened with all the iPhone bbqs etc, did they actually receive them (and with discount), or how did eBay handle it?

  • Darn I just bought a game from ebay a few days ago D:

  • Xbone considered as "toys" …surely!

    • +13

C'mon dude, there are only 3 lines in the description.

      Max $100 discount. Excludes consoles.

      • +1

Haha, my bad … Got to carried away there for a minute!

  • -1

    3DS???

    • +13

      3ds is a console, this hasn't changed

      • I used the code to buy a 3DS, got $50 off, so they are not listing it as a console for whatever reason.

        • Oh yer if someone has/d listed it in games or toys then that's fine (as long as ebay don't pick up on it i guess)

  • Last time people were putting phones under the Toys category, reckon history will repeat itself? Very tempted by an Xperia Z3..

    • would only get the $100 off which is good but not the best value, something closer to $500 might seem better

  • Was waiting for this again…unfortunately not as good as the one in July which covered more categories and $200 discount.

  • -3

in before "is an iphone a toy"

    • +12

If that's your concept of "before", then you, sir, must own a delorean.

  • Will the following hold this time:

"Toys means children’s toys, for example items listed in the following categories on eBay.com.au: Toys & Hobbies, Video Games & Consoles, Toys 0-12 months (in Baby), Children’s Books (in Books, Magazines), Toys (in Collectables) and Dolls, Bears."

    • Source for this quote?

        • Nope, looks like they've changed it now. It even excludes postage.

The offer entitles you to a 20% discount off the purchase price for up to 3 transactions (excluding postage) of toys on eBay.com.au during the Offer Period, up to a maximum discount of $100 per transaction. Toys means children’s toys, for example items listed in the following categories on eBay.com.au: Toys & Hobbies, Toys 0-12 months (in Baby), Children’s Books (in Books, Magazines), Toys (in Collectables) and Dolls, Bears.

  • does the 20% off include postage?

    • it has on past sunday deals yes

      • Not this time..

The offer entitles you to a 20% discount off the purchase price for up to 3 transactions (excluding postage) of toys on eBay.com.au during the Offer Period, up to a maximum discount of $100 per transaction. • -3

I don't get all the hype. Why + now, why not do it later once you found something to buy?

    • +5

it's a good deal even if i don't spend a cent (which i'm hoping to achieve because budget)

    • +5

      why not shut up?
it's potentially a good deal for lots of people, if noone was to + it now then the deal would get lost. +ing it makes it a front page deal for everyone to see before sunday arrives.

      • This won't happen. Still early days. This will go to at least 5 pages of comment before the deal starts.
