  • They are starting to roll out the marketing. Front page has two square banners saying "Australia's biggest toy sale" and the other says "9th - 11th"

  • Does this apply to anything under these categories bought through Ebay.com.au? So, even if I search for international or worldwide listings, as long as they ship and can be bought through the Australian site the discount still applies?

Hope I'm being clear with what I'm asking there:)

    • +1

From the past deals, yes, it worked fine with international sellers

    • +1

I think it just has to be on the .com.au website, as long as they ship here

    • It doesnt apply to "collectables" etc though.

Damn, doesn't include video games :(

      • I'm unsure about that, they say "for example" and then list a few categories. Why bother saying consoles are not included if they aren't considered a 'toy' by ebay anyway. might have to wait until the day and see

    • -1

In other words, nothing to see here folks.

  • Aren't you techiniqueally able to buy your own items and make a profit after eBay and PayPal fees ?

    • Too much effort for so little gain.
You need to pay close to 15% in fees, so real gain is only really 5%.

      • With cashback & credit card points I calculate $55 profit per transaction. Worth it for the 30mins effort. Maybe not for the risk.

    • +24

I would use that profit on spelling lessons

      • Lol thought spell check would fix it :P

        • Hence the spelling lessons, can't rely on spell check hah

  • After spending many minutes on Ebay Australia Live Help with someone who seemed to not understand English (had to ask the question 3 times after many minutes of him checking my account and responding with various irrelevant information), I can finally confirmed that "the current sale between Nov9-Nov11 is only for children toys excluding console and games".

    • The voucher will still probably work for games and consoles listing in the toys categories

      • It explicitly excludes consoles though. Games under those sections, it probably works.

        • +3

It excludes it. But don't think they have any mechanisms to check if it is a console. lol.
So if the sellers list it in the toys only category it will still work.

From previous sales of this nature the eligibility was determined via listing category, I don't think this sale will be any different. Unless they paid a heap of people to look through every single order and then disqualify people for purchasing consoles.

Only time will tell I guess.

        • +1

If its a console listed in the toys category it'll still work

  • +1

Crap!!! Just (10 minutes ago) bought $100 worth of items listed in the toys category. Should have Ozbargained before Ebaying. Lesson learnt.

    • +1

Buy again and cancel the first order?

  • Would a leap frog 3 be valid for the discount?
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Leap-Frog-Leap-Pad-3-Green-Mr…

    • +1

I'm sure you'll be fine with that one :)

  • Not sure whether it'll make me jump back on Sundays. Voucher code can be added though, it's CWORLDOFTOYS.

  • +1

Consoles are excluded from this offer.

Maybe someone might do a dodgy and post "Womans weekly magazine… with a free PS4 console' similar to the 'Bag of plastic forks plus insert iphone/ps4/game here' during the 50% BBQ sale
    eg cyrax83 on 31/08/2014 - 08:15
    PS4 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/A-Bag-Of-BBQ-Forks-And-PlayStatio…

(Sorry, I dont know how to link to that specific comment, but its on page 4 of the 50% off bbq post.)

    • Clever.

If ebay finds out about it though, pretty sure they'll take action, because it's so obvious.

      • Take action? Reverse transaction is all they can do. And buyers would be pissed off if the 20% deal is over and they didn't get their discounted ps4.

EBay could cancel the sellers account I suppose, but so what just sign up a new account? If doing a dodgy sale probably best to do it from a new account anyway in case it gets cancelled later on

    1. This offer cannot be withdrawn into your bank account and cannot be transferred.

Does that mean that I cannot withdraw the money, from Paypal, that I would make from a sale?

    • +1

you signed up to OzBargain just to ask this question?? Nothing fishy going on with GaryD ;)

      • Eh? Seemed like a valid question. I want to know that if I sell a toy on Ebay on Sunday, can I get the money out of my Paypal account.

        • the buyer will get 20% off purchase price, you will get 100% of purchase price (minus fees) ebay will reimburse you the 20%, so you will be able to get the money out of your account.

        • Basically the seller gets no benefits out of this other than a higher chance of selling a item.
Its the buyer who gets all the benefits.

Basically that condition is for the buyer, so even if they get a refund they will only get 80% of the original price, not 100%.

  • Hurray :D

  • Would a trampoline be ok? The catgeory is "outdoor toys".

  • I wanted to buy my kid a magnetic board/easel thing…. $70 odd bucks. Reckon it would be included even though it's listed in the kids art and craft categories?

    • You could ask the seller to change category so they can make a sale?

      • I considered this but is it against the ToCs?

        • Should be okay.

  • I wonder if I sell the one, toy matchbox car I have for $300, but include a Wii U black premium console with it, and stick it in the toy listing.. will it still qualify for the 20% discount for buyers?

    • If its the same as the previous Sunday deals, anything listed in the categories will work. So just put up the console, you probably don't need the car

      • But how would he list it without raising eyebrows?

        • +1

Computers don't have eyebrows. No humans have checked in the past

        • +1

Shouldn't be a problem, eBay doesn't seem to check unless this happens

  • Magic the gathering black lotus card signed by Christopher rush 16509.98 USD for 16409.98 with coupon. What a bargain!

  • +1

Need some suggestions please. Anyone spotted good deals?

    • Pretty meh. On most items the discount basically covers shipping, so no great savings off RRP

Quick search didn't reveal any misplaced Ipads / phones etc

  • Any console games in the Toy category?

  • +4

    Works on Video Games category….!!!!!!

    • link?

    • Yup it works :)

      • Ive tried to buy a Wii U console from 2 sellers in the video game category and code hasn't worked.

        • +1

Consoles excluded, so probably only works on games.

        • @rukia: Yep, ive checked, thanks :)

  • +1

FInally bit the bullet and bought a lego mindstorms ev3 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LEGO-31313-Mindstorms-EV3-/131336…. for the kids. SO expensive but hopefully it will be worth it

  • +1

where do you enter the coupon code?

    • +2

Add item to cart and then enter coupon code. Dont use Buy it now as i dont think that gives you the option to enter a code. Or at least i wouldnt try it.

      • Yeah, I had to use "check out" to get the page for entering the code.

  • Code working? Trying to order an item from US via Ebay Aus and code isnt applying.

  • I was hoping phones might make it in…doesn't look like it.

  • Doesnt appear to be working for items sold outside of AU, or at least from the US.

    • works fine for me. is the item being sold in $AU or $US?

      • US $. I think the item has been listed on Ebay Aus. The item im looking at is listed as available from international sellers. Primary currency is US but it does have the conversion to AU dollars.

        • I just tried it with a UK currency item and it worked :/

        • Try and item from the US for me if you can.

        • @hazzad:

          works

        • Appears the item has to be listed on ebay.com.au originally for the code to work. items listed on international ebay sites arent valid for the promo. Or so ebay support say.

        • @hazzad: If it only has to appear on ebay.com.au, you can just change the URL to .com.au. The rest of the URL can stay the same.

e.g. all of these links work:

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141410589254
          http://www.ebay.com/itm/141410589254
          http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141410589254
          http://www.ebay.it/itm/141410589254
          http://www.ebay.fr/itm/141410589254

Of course if the seller doesn't ship to Australia, it's not going to work regardless. :)

        • I think the seller has to have listed it physically on ebay.com.au. It wont work for items that were listed on ebay.com but still ship to other countries. im no expert but there must be a difference. i can see the item i want to buy on ebay.com.au. I simply cant apply the code to it.

        • @hazzad:

My guess is it's not working because of the category your item is in.

The T&C specifically states 'toys (in collectables)'

The offer entitles you to a 20% discount off the purchase price for up to 3 transactions (excluding postage) of toys on eBay.com.au during the Offer Period, up to a maximum discount of $100 per transaction. Toys means children’s toys, for example items listed in the following categories on eBay.com.au: Toys & Hobbies, Toys 0-12 months (in Baby), Children’s Books (in Books, Magazines), Toys (in Collectables) and Dolls, Bears.

Your item is in Collectibles > Pinbacks, Bobbles, Lunchboxes > Bobbleheads, Nodders > Modern (1970-Now > Funko

It probably needs to be in Collectibles > Toys http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Toys-/158356/i.html

*edit seems like I replied to the wrong comment (but still yours) so oh well.

    • +1

      Code worked fine for me…

Trick is you need to make sure you remain on the eBay.com.au domain so you can't find stuff on the other eBay domains. If it is reachable via eBay.com.au then the code works.

I have done this using this code (US purchase) and the previous codes (UK and US).

It wouldn't work when I went directly via eBay.co.uk or eBay.com

      Hope this helps.

  • Code work on 3DS games sold in UK for me:

Hakuoki Memories of the Shinsengumi Limited Collectors Edition Game 3DS

    • Was price listed in AU dollars only?

      • My search of this game came up as AU$ and free postage to Australia. Applied the code and it works.

        • I think UK seems fine. I think its only US items for some reason. Ive added 3-4 items shipped from the US and all fail to apply the code.

  • I'm thinking of getting this Range Rover Ride on for my daughter f(and maybe a little me)for Xmas.
It's pricey but this is the cheapest I can find it for.

    • +10

      get her this instead.

      seriously.

      • +3

Some people don't even have cars worth $500!

      • -2

Already have one of those. But seriously yes it's $400 but how many Ozbargainers would be jumping on PS4's if they had 20% off again? Bonus is the car is suitable outdoors.

        • -2

so you're justifying spending $400 on a replica kids range rover for your daughter (who i assume must be very young if she is able to fit inside this) by comparing it to people buying 20% off PS4s?

what happens when she grows out of it? will you buy her a real one?

        • +10

Didnt realise these forums were for commenting on what people can do with their own money…really?

        • -2

is this dan76ns daughter? i'm sorry, i'm sure you'll get your range rover.

        • +2

Nope but maybe you should get a life and worry about your own issues. Clearly you have some.

        • yeah you're right, my daddy never bought me a scaletrix when i was younger. scarred me for life.

        • and it's not so much me worrying about what other people spend their money on, its more me worrying about an entire generation of kids growing up as spoilt little brats.

        • +4

          @didsburydan:
I appreciate your concerns with my daughters upbringing but I can assure you there is zero chance of her growing up to be a spoilt brat.

        • @didsburydan:
I have no issues with people buying ps4's at all, I have a PS3,PS2 and playstation all stored in the cupboard which I look forward to bringing out with my grandkids in many years from now.

I have another daughter due to be born in a few weeks so I would get quite a few years out of a 12v car. When they grow out of it I'm sure I could sell it on eBay.

        • @didsburydan: i'd be worried about being blown up overseas or catching Ebola before I'd give serious consideration to some kid being a spoiled brat, just saying

        • wow

  • Kind of getting the impression it doesnt work for items shipped from the US for some reason. ive added 3-4 items and none will apply the code. Uk and china is fine.

  • items from videogame section definitely work.

I just bought a Logitech G502 gaming mouse ($55 delivered) and Razer Tartarus ($65.6 delivered) which were listed in the video games section.

  • +1

anyone selling electronic toys, such as ipad?

  • +1

Toysrus on 12th is looking good right now https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/168804

  • Got about ~$150 worth of games. Will probably get more later.

  • Hardly any misplaced items on this sale… :P

  • I am wondering if these would be classed as toys?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/STAR-WARS-ARTFX-BOBA-FETT-THE-CLO…

    • it's in the toys category, yes.
