50% off BBQs in BBQ Category on eBay (Sunday - 31/8)

4520
CSIZZLE50

Looks like anything listed as a 'BBQ' under the BBQ category will be entitled to a 50% off discount this sunday! (Max $250 discount)

"The offer entitles you to a 50% discount off the total purchase price (excluding postage) of BBQs in the BBQs category on www.ebay.com.au purchased during the Offer Period."

Hopefully we see some other stuff listed in the category too (assuming that works).

WARNING:
eBay have just added this line to their T's and C's:

eBay reserves the right to disallow or reverse a discount in circumstances where it believes a sale or purchase of any BBQ or other item as part of this sale has not been made in good faith. This includes any collusive conduct by buyers or sellers or any other conduct which eBay considers to be unfair or untoward.

(Thanks JDF)
Be wary of buying items that aren't BBQ's in the category with the discount!

Regardless, anyone after a BBQ should check out eBay this sunday!

  • 1 transaction only (per account)
  • Multiple items per transaction allowed
  • $250 max discount ($500 spend)
  • Must pay with PayPal
  • Must purchase during the offer period (Sunday)

Mod Warning: Please do not post your own eBay listings in this thread. Such comments will be unpublished, the commenter will be banned from participating in the thread and account penalties may apply. Use the classifieds instead for personal items.

    • No that's not normal.

      • it shud be in acct straight away? any suggestion wht to do

All I can think of is that eBay are pending a lot of PayPal transactions on BBQ's to weed out the scams. I'd wait and see.

    • maybe they payed by echeque?

      • no paypal

      • An echeque via PayPal will still show as a transaction (pending) in history but balance won't be available until it clears.

        • so it should still work yeh?

  • Yup, I am too slow and too late

  • +4

Wow, there are now so many over priced BBQ's on eBay ie. Baby Q's for $500. Even scammers trying to sell gift cards for well above face value have turned up.

    • agree. but we are all helping eBay…..

  • can i buy and pay with paypal using bank (echeque direct debit not Via visa/mastercard credit card or debit card)

    • Depends on the listing.

Click the "Postage and payments" tab in the listing and scroll down to "Payment details".

If it says "Immediate payment required for this item" then the answer is no. Well that's what I found anyway :(

It asked me to link a credit card when I tried to pay.

  • whoa..

I sort of wonder, if sellers are willing to scam eBay, maybe they are also willing to scam you. This would be a very quick and easy way for scammers to harvest a lot of money.

      • Probably the big risk is that these sellers may make you go through with the sale if paypal refuse to pay their 50%

      • I agree with this guy (or gal). There's a laptop that looks pretty cheap but the seller only has a feedback of 20 odd. I'd trust any seller with positive feedback over 100 tho.

        • Yes, let the buyer beware on this deal. Obviously BCF and The Good Guys are all cool, but anyone else I'd be looking at closely before jumping the gun.

I'm actually really surprised eBay don't have someone sitting there, bouncing items into the correct categories. It wouldn't take that long. You only have to watch the newly listed items come through.

    • a bbq and a free ipad http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Red-Centre-BBQ-Grill-with-FREE-Ap… $250 line up in an orderly queue guys, or not! lol

  • You saved AU $249.50 on this purchase - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181035257536?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…

    Happy with that. Thanks op.

    • if u could tell the postage option does it let you pick up or have to pay it says 99$ postage nd hardly 10 mins away from my place

      • Items are available for collection from our Seven Hills NSW warehouse (a $19 handling fee applies).

        • Back in stock now - but caveat emptor - other posters in this thread have given ordinary first hand accounts of it's build quality.

    • That was the one I was planning on getting but completely sold out now

  • does this code work on bbq tools too?

    • +2

      not working for me

    • I'd like to know as well (before making ANOTHER ebay account)

      edit: ah thanks twisty

  • +1

    omg

  • Anyone used the code twice? I tried in the cart and it worked.

  • All Weber Q's, no kettles..

    • I was after a Kettle too, can't get one :(((((((

  • Any recommendations for $500 + $261(DELIVERY)

    Read the terms and condition:

"Discount will be applied to BBQs only. BBQ accessories or any other items are excluded from the sale. If discount is incorrectly applied at checkout to an item not included in the sale, the discount will be reversed and/or is payable to eBay."

So i assume eBay will charge full price for those who try to play with the system.

    • Oh god, can you imagine eBay coming at you for the other 50%.

    • +1

Who would be liable though? The buyer or the seller?

      • I'd imagine they'd go after the seller. But who knows?

        • +1

this is my speculation, and it may be wrong. I assume it will charge the buyer as the buyer only pays half of the price. But the seller is selling at full price. Time will tell

        • Won't go after the seller, the seller isn't the one incorrectly using a promo code that states it is for BBQ's only.

The buyer will have to pay up.

Probably part of the eBay plan to generate sales/fees on all the over inflated priced non BBQ items listed in the BBQ category after they deny the discount.

  • Thanks OP, I managed to snag a Weber Baby Q from TGG for $144.50 + delivery, now hopefully I can collect and save the shipping costs.

    • Rang them (store)for same and they said they have a new policy and they are not allowed to. Wasn't happy $44 del is too much.

      • It's $75 delivery to here. TGG is 15 minutes away. Kinda kills the deal.

        • wow $75 my TGG is 5 mins away. And yeah it does.

    • Alexandria, Sydney store were happy to let me pick up from store and refund delivery.

  • TGG's Baby Q is up again

  • hi there i was after who has bought
    Mouse over image to zoom
NEW-Euro-Grille-100-Stainless-Steel-BBQ-6-Burner-Outdoor-Barbeque-Gas-Kitchen, how much is postage it says 99$ if anyone was able to pick up option as this place is 10 mins away from my home.

    • I managed to nab one of these after being sold out (they slowly added a few at a time) and was able to pick up. Handling fee of $19 for pick up and they said they'd refund the difference in postage (yet to happen, but communication's been pretty good).

Had it all set up and tested it out today and everything works fine. For $270, really can't complain, seems to be built well enough considering the price.

  • +1

Thanks OP just bought this one for $230 including delivery.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Weber-Q-Q2000-LPG-BBQ-Brand-New-i…

    • Lol. Anyone pulled the trigger on that yet? Considering the amount he's cashing back, what's the benefit? Not too sure how eBay would police the cash back even if he really did sell you a BBQ.

      • After eBay/PayPal fees and cashback the seller would be left with $13.20

The BBQ is probably something like this. That one is $13.85 so I'm sure some no brand ones can be found even cheaper.

The seller is probably counting on most people just buying for the cashback profit so he'll get to pocket that $13.20 without ever even supplying the BBQ.

Your brand new BBQ is available for local Perth pickup only.
However should you live in another state but still wish to claim the cash back now and pick up the BBQ when next in Perth please feel free.
All BBQ's must be picked up within one (1) month of this EBay listing end date.

The quantity available is 50,000 so could be looking at making up $660,000 :D

      • I think the seller makes $25 on each 'sale' after fees and giving some cash back.

    • +2

lol. What happens if he doesn't give cash back?

  • +1

    Happy day $200 for weber q 200

    Thanks OPs

  • Hey guys what is better to get the natural gas or LPG? I have a connection from my house so i presume that is for natural gas? Sorry new to this

    • Not sure if one is better than the other but if you have an outdoor natural gas prt, might as well make the most of it :)

  • purchased two by mistake from two different seller. Paid one, one is still unpaid.

Can I cancel it? it said pretty serious here http://ocsnext.ebay.com.au/ocs/cusr?query=2782

"If the seller doesn't agree to cancel the transaction, you'll need to honour your purchase and pay for the item."

    Anyone help?

    • Just contact the seller and request a cancellation, apologise and make up some excuse. I just did and got an instant reply from the seller agreeing to cancel.

  • Quite a few are scamming eBay by listing nothing (non-existing item), then buying with another account.

  • Picked up the Bugg from Appliances online for $301, from what I've read so far it seems to be at least as good as the Weber.

anyone have LG g pro 2 want to sell it?

  • Hey guys need some help I purchased a weber go anywhere. When I go to pay now I click on gift cards, eBay cash, coupons. I add the CSIZZLE50 code but the price still says the same. Am I doing it the right way ?

    • Is it definitely in the BBQ category?

    • You add the item to your CART
      Then proceed to check out
at the bottom right of that screen there is a REDEMTION CODE section, just put the code there and apply it. You will see the applied discount,

Then continue and it will take you to PAYPAL
