50% off BBQs in BBQ Category on eBay (Sunday - 31/8)

4520
CSIZZLE50

Looks like anything listed as a 'BBQ' under the BBQ category will be entitled to a 50% off discount this sunday! (Max $250 discount)

"The offer entitles you to a 50% discount off the total purchase price (excluding postage) of BBQs in the BBQs category on www.ebay.com.au purchased during the Offer Period."

Hopefully we see some other stuff listed in the category too (assuming that works).

WARNING:
eBay have just added this line to their T's and C's:

eBay reserves the right to disallow or reverse a discount in circumstances where it believes a sale or purchase of any BBQ or other item as part of this sale has not been made in good faith. This includes any collusive conduct by buyers or sellers or any other conduct which eBay considers to be unfair or untoward.

(Thanks JDF)
Be wary of buying items that aren't BBQ's in the category with the discount!

Regardless, anyone after a BBQ should check out eBay this sunday!

  • 1 transaction only (per account)
  • Multiple items per transaction allowed
  • $250 max discount ($500 spend)
  • Must pay with PayPal
  • Must purchase during the offer period (Sunday)

Mod Warning: Please do not post your own eBay listings in this thread. Such comments will be unpublished, the commenter will be banned from participating in the thread and account penalties may apply. Use the classifieds instead for personal items.

You are the best! Thanks for that I never even noticed the shopping cart.

        • +5

The real bonus is that the shopping cart allows you to test coupons codes before you commit to buy. It can be pretty unnerving to make a big purchase and realise the code doesn't apply to your order

  • wonder if masters will price match…

  • Struggling to find BBQ's that use natural gas. I've just moved into a unit with a gas outlet on the balcony. Seems like it would make more sense to use that, rather than an LPG bottle. Anyone doing this? Is it more economical?

Weber have awesome customer service - broke the temperature gauge and they sent me another one no questions asked really quickly. BTW I have the Weber Q320 (I think now the Q3200). It's awesome and can cook a roast/pizza etc.

The funny thing is the last seller this guy bought things from on eBay was "ozbargainbargain"

  • This person listed the same BBQ 3 times conveniently at $500, me thinks they are trying something dodgy - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Family-Q-320-LPG-/271590765288?pt…

    • LOL
Fairly sure he might just have the one, this sounds so dodgy!

'Buy all of my Q's to help me out and give extra ones to your family and friends!'

    • +1

wouldn't be hard to setup a fake ebay account and buy all 3 at 9:55am… lol

  • Everyone keeps talking about the weber q?!

Weber mannnn.. kettle, charcoal/briquettes. .. the original!

Already noticed a seller increasing their price for this sale. Something I had in watch list went from $359 free del to $379 plus del. I deleted it from my list.

The calculator is in the listing

        • Missed that…

      • I live in sydney can drive half an hour to seven hilla and pickup for $19 handling fee… $269 total

But after assembly i dont thnik it looks as good as

    • Shipping is killer. $143 to Gold Coast!

    • For a bit extra:
      http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/181035346664
And dont forget cashrewards 2% back

    • Can't seem to get the final price to come up. Was seeing if I could get it in the cart so I can arrange pick up, but it comes up as "seller hasn't specified freight postage fees", so it won't let me enter a redemption code or get the final price without committing to the buy.

Thinking about grabbing a good guys one if I get in, in time, anyone know if you can just pick it up in store and they'll credit you the shipping?

    Thanks.

    • +1

Depends which store gets the order, if it is somewhere local usually can give them a call and will do. Don't bother asking h.o or whoever handles the ebay store, they will say no.

      • To clarify, the orders are despatched from stores. If your local doesn't have stock the order could be coming from anywhere.

      • +1

Agree. I messaged good guys ebay store yesterday and they replied no pick up avail. Also no combined shipping.

        • Cheers thanks!

  • Would a 'NEW Euro-Grille 100% Stainless Steel Sink Module BBQ Outdoor Wet Barbeque' count in this deal?
It has the word 'BBQ' in the listing, but isn't… a BBQ.

a few strange listings are starting to pop up :)

    FIFA 14

Wii U Pro Controller <- Not my account

    Pentax Lens

    Dell U2412M

Edit: Also a Surface Pro 2 and quite a few games are popping up

    • +2

you can see all the newly listed items here

    • edit- stupid question. kindly ignore. lol

  • what does this mean?

"This offer cannot be withdrawn into your bank account and cannot be transferred."

I am guessing that you pay the full amount, and 50% of the purchase price is credited into your paypal account?

    • The discount comes off at checkout, prior to logging on at Paypal.

  • so has anyone here listed anything?

tonight I listed a BBQ with my wifes account (nothing dodge, no bonus ps4s, no nothing), and ebay have suspended her selling privileges and cancelled the listing.

    • hmm I was about to list a legitimate bbq sale at a slightly higher than realistic price but that is disconcerting. When you say 'nothing dodge' though, be honest was it ridiculously overpriced?

      • Yeh considering you can still buy the noise cancelling headphones from 2 days ago.

        • It does look like ebay are watching with hawks eyes the new listings as all the listings that Zelda posted above have been removed or reassigned to the right category including a couple more I saw posted earlier today for various games.

      • By nothing dodge, I meant no "bonus ps4".
The listing was a $100 for 500, but as I said in a comment below, there are a few other reasons that they might have suspended it

    • +1

was her ebay account brand new, or has she had some buys/sells before.
and did you update any of her details (ebay or paypal) just before you listed the item, because i think they just suspend accounts if there wasnt any activity on it for awhile, so they just want to make sure it really is her selling.
how can they possibly know that she doesnt actually have a legitimate bbq to sell?

      • Yeah, thinking this might be the case.. She had never sold anything and automatic payment (for eBay fees) hadn't been set up, only every bought 4 things, and doesn't use it regularly.
Auldi had to reset the password to get into it, and she hadn't changed the password since they had been hacked

    • Care to share more details of your listing? Really curious about what happened to you.

I've had a listing up for the past 7 days. The item is quite BBQ related but I had it under a different category (for indoor use). Earlier tonight I thought I'd take the chance of revising it to be under the BBQ category for tomorrow, though I doubt it'll sell there either, and it's still up there - eBay hasn't edited it back or deleted it.

  • when will the redemption code be posted?

    • 10am tomorrow, just like every other big sunday deal…

      • i haven't been on ebay during any of the previous deals..

is the code just on the home page? ie ebay.com.au??

  • Anyone know what time this deal starts?, or can I start buying when it hits 12

    • Mentioned just above. 10am, same as every other week

      • The 20% off code started at 1am though

        • So does that mean I better wake up 3 or 4 times in the middle of the night and check.

Having said that though I won't know the code…

        • Whats the 20% off code? I must have missed something.

        • +1

Whats the 20% off code? I must have missed something.

That was the first Big Sunday deal in mid June.

          Tomorrows code will be:

          CBBQ50*

          *complete speculation on my behalf

    Hope that helps someone!

    • Don't encourage this crap. Anyone who buys it will be sadly disappointed I am sure to get the discount, it needs to be a 'BBQ' under the BBQ category.

    • Hmmm.. bought one of the outdoor sofas and paid for it straight away. Now the transaction has been removed from eBay. I wonder what now?

  • Deleted

  • Just wondering when it says "1 transaction only (per account)"

Is that per eBay account or per PayPal Account?

Only reason i'm asking cause we have a few eBay accounts in the family (1 each) but they all use the same PayPal email address/account to pay.

    TIA

    The T&Cs here: http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Sunday

    1. One transaction only per person.

    2. The redemption code requires payment with PayPal in order to take effect.

    3. Your eBay.com.au and PayPal accounts must be active at the time of redemption (not suspended nor made inactive by eBay or PayPal) and be registered under the same email address.

Does this mean it is per PayPal account?

Does this also mean I can pay via PayPal using my CC and but not log into paypal (upon checkout PayPal gives you the option to log in or pay via CC and you need to enter in your details). I would have to enter in the email address used by that the ebay account?

    • Well not in BBQ category and not on ebay.com.au and not a BBQ good luck

  • I wonder if this rule is meant for the sellers: "This offer cannot be withdrawn into your bank account and cannot be transferred."

    • Not sure how the previous offers worked. But that sounds as if the cash back credit from ebay will be none transferable out of paypal.

  • Is it possible to use the discount code on an ios app or is it desktop website only? I'm assuming you need to add to cart first and not buy now to add promo code?

  • It says " The offer entitles you to a 50% discount off the total purchase price (excluding postage) of BBQs in the BBQs category "

    Of BBQs

Does this still mean any item. or JUST BBQ? in BBQ catagory?

    • I remember Kogan listed ipad as videos and consoles… Ipad is a tablet ereader…

My wife has her own Ebay account and she could use my business Paypal account but it has the same address.
Would her buting my BBQ and using the business Paypal account work for the discount?

    • Why the down votes? Not upset, just wondering?

      • +1

Firstly - you're clearly asking how to scam this ebay promotion..
and Secondly - you're clearly asking how to scam this ebay promotion

They would be my two guesses

        • -2

If you have done your reading, you would notice that I am not the first to ask the question. And those others got up voted. Strange world we live in….

  • Why are so many sellers trying to scam Ebay? Clearly i could list my second hand Weber Q for $200 more than it was brand new. I'll even use my business Ebay account to buy it. Ill make couple 100 bucks.
What is even worse is the legit Sellers are putting the prices up hoping to make an extra buck rather than selling all their stock and making a profit. Sorry. Just wanted to vent.

    • +2

You can't say 'scam', it's ebay who started it by having this promotion. We are just helping ebay by listing everything we can so they themselves have free advertising.

  • +2

shame we cant buy the special weber q models on ebay. i really want the higher lid to do roasts and the like.

Beginner EBay deals question: where do they post the code?

    • it will be posted on the banner on the eBay home page. The deal description above will also be updated with the code

      • Many thanks

  • Does anyone know if this works if your paypal account is bank funded (so technically delayed payment but instant checkout). Verified but no credit card connected, just bank details.

    • sounds like paypal only

      • Yes, it's still paypal. This promo does not expect you to have paypal money but you can use your credit card connected to paypal also. Just wondering if anyone paid before using paypal linked to bank account (which is still paypal at the end, except paypal linked bank payments can take up to 3 days).

  • Put a BBQ in cart but Ebay won't let me check out until I have a postage cost from seller. No response from seller yet.
Anyway around this? (Don't want to miss out as there are only a few of that model left)

    • well promo code not posted yet so you won't get discount if you pay anyway.

      • Thanks, but what I meant was if I don't get a delivery cost soon then the BBQ will sell out soon after 10am.

        • If they don't list a shipping price then chances are it's PICkUP only as a BBQ is a bulky item

        • @juicedpixels:

no they have a shipping calculator.

  • So tempted to buy some of those gift cards

  • Looks like the good guys and bfc have both put up their shipping costs

  • -1

Can I buy the BBQ now. And pay after 10am?

    • add to cart.

can't buy until after 10am. don't risk it. otherwise you will pay 50% more than "RRP" lol.

  • Can I 'proeceed to check out' now and wait to put the code in as soon as it becomes available or does that effectively commit to buy before the period starts? I have added to cart but can't see a box for the code yet

    • I've done this previously, a seller I purchased the BBQ called eBay customer service this morning. Lady said the purchase has to be done after 10AM to be eligible, although previously you could purchase before the 10AM and apply the code after 10AM.

      • Ok so is the 'proceed to checkout' button effectively the 'buy it now' button or is there another step afterwards? Quite a lot of competition for this bbq I want to be as quick as possible..

        • 'Proceed to checkout' may be the seller's requirement that the customer must buy the item and proceed directly to payment. If you do not go through with the payment, the item will still be listed on eBay for other buyers to purchase.

Sellers can have the two options:
          - Sell an item as Buy It Now
          - Sell a Buy It Now item only if payment is made instantly. (Hence maybe the 'Proceed to checkout')

Just get ready for the code, and proceed to checkout asap. Making sure the money is in your bank etc.

        • @Moots: Thanks, got my order confirmation, saved $249.98!

  • How does this deal work for me?

I have my bbq listed on eBay and hoping to get good money for it, it ends today

So if my listing ends with $300 do I only get $150?

    • No. You receive the payment in full, and as a seller you wouldn't even know that the buyer applied the discount code. eBay subsidises the promotion and pays the other 50% directly out of their own pocket. Absolutely zero loss to the sellers.

      • Ahh that's a relief

    • you get paid $300, buyer pays $150 and ebay covers the other $150
