50% off BBQs in BBQ Category on eBay (Sunday - 31/8)

4520
CSIZZLE50

Looks like anything listed as a 'BBQ' under the BBQ category will be entitled to a 50% off discount this sunday! (Max $250 discount)

"The offer entitles you to a 50% discount off the total purchase price (excluding postage) of BBQs in the BBQs category on www.ebay.com.au purchased during the Offer Period."

Hopefully we see some other stuff listed in the category too (assuming that works).

WARNING:
eBay have just added this line to their T's and C's:

eBay reserves the right to disallow or reverse a discount in circumstances where it believes a sale or purchase of any BBQ or other item as part of this sale has not been made in good faith. This includes any collusive conduct by buyers or sellers or any other conduct which eBay considers to be unfair or untoward.

(Thanks JDF)
Be wary of buying items that aren't BBQ's in the category with the discount!

Regardless, anyone after a BBQ should check out eBay this sunday!

  • 1 transaction only (per account)
  • Multiple items per transaction allowed
  • $250 max discount ($500 spend)
  • Must pay with PayPal
  • Must purchase during the offer period (Sunday)

Mod Warning: Please do not post your own eBay listings in this thread. Such comments will be unpublished, the commenter will be banned from participating in the thread and account penalties may apply. Use the classifieds instead for personal items.

It is a weber barbecue though. Damn

just got this email from The Hardware Village regarding my Weber purchase..
    anyone else get it?

I have no idea what they are on about..

"Thank you for your purchase with The Hardware Village today. We have received emails from a number of buyers who thought their purchase was a part of Ebays 50% off Sunday Sale. We are not part of this sale. This sale was only with selected sellers and to receive the discount you needed a coupon code from Ebay. You can see Ebays wording regarding the coupon on their sale page here http://deals.ebay.com.au/#sunday

If you have misunderstood, please contact Ebay to arrange a refund.

If you are happy to proceed with the sale, please let us know via return email and we will process your order once we have heard from you. Sorry for the confusion, but unfortunately Ebays wording on their sale has made the situation unclear and we just need to clarify who is a genuine buyer.

    Kind regards
    Bruce"

What the…? If you've used the code, just tell them to go ahead. Probably easiest as I think they're confused.

      • +8

Looking at the link, ebay have now added this line to their Terms & Conditions:

eBay reserves the right to disallow or reverse a discount in circumstances where it believes a sale or purchase of any BBQ or other item as part of this sale has not been made in good faith. This includes any collusive conduct by buyers or sellers or any other conduct which eBay considers to be unfair or untoward.

        • +3

Its good that they added this one, hope they reverse the dodgy sales.

        • +2

Yeah, between you and your "friends" you could double your money on this deal simply selling things that don't exist. No goods change hands, only money. How eBay can't see that is beyond me.

        • +4

@sparkles: and that was the main reason there was a GFC

        • @sparkles:
Theres alot of things that are exploitable in life.

Thats why hackers will always say, anything is hackable.

        • -2

          @spn:
          HACK THE PLANET DUDEEEE!

        • What TIME did they add thus clause? And how can they reverse a discount if it has already been paid via PayPal??

        • @voteoften: If your card/bank account is attached they can reverse it, if not they can make it a debt you need to pay in ebay fees

    • +4

      Well Bruce is a Goose.

Should all be transparent to the seller. It is a transaction between the buyer and eBay.

    • +2

Sounds like they are confused/worried that they will lose up to $250 off their purchase price, instead of ebay covering the price…

    • +1

Got the same e-mail Mate. Not sure what to do now ?.

      • +2

Email Bruce back and tell him to check his paypal account and how it has the full amount. Send him a screen shot of your paypal transaction that shows you received the discount.

        • Thanks TightBottom ,
          Will do that.
          Cheers

        • @gillmaverick: Anyone heard back yet?

        • +1

@hypnOtixx: Hi Mate , Yes Its all sorted. Bruce is now aware of the discount. Anyone who has bought from The Hardware store should just go ahead and reply to Bruce to go ahead with the purchase.Cheers

      • +1

Brucey has sorted it out.. seems some people may have purchased the BBQs without putting in the code! :P

        hahahaha

can't wait to enjoy the new Weber Q305 once it arrives and the Sydney weather clears up!

        • That's good news. Just ordered a Weber Baby Q from them and only saw your (earlier) posts later.

  • Picked this up for $250, couldn't really find any reviews, but seems to be the same as other branded models selling for a lot more - for $250, worth finding out! (Damn you OzBargain)

  • +1

    Hi ssjmark ,
I have received the same e-mail Mate. Dont know what"s going on there.

  • +1

any actual good deals? pages of people posting scam listings and barely any bbq deals..

  • Damn, this seemed like a pretty good deal but it's sold out :(

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Euro-Grille-100-Stainless-Ste…

    • -1

Lol, power of OZB? 714 sold. 100 this hour!

      • +7

In my opinion this has nothing to do with ozbargain. Ozbargainers are not suckers for overinflated RRP's. This is to do with the power of eBay home page banners and a shit load of bored Aussies with nothing better to do than look at eBay.

        • My mate has one that looks (almost?) exactly the same (or very damn close to it :D), but it's called Blue Tongue.

Paid $700 nearly 3 years ago and has had to replace all the burners and some other random things. It does look very nice in those photos and I think if anyone paid full price they would be very disappointed, but at $250 I guess it's reasonably priced.

    • Yeah let's see if they can honour the deal! Obviously over selling now while this deal is on, will be a backlog of orders.

    • I managed to buy it earlier as it was sold out at 10am, then came back on around 10.30. The seller wants $100 for delivery but I work 10 mins away and have a station wagon so I want to pick up for the $19 handling fee. I think I will just pay the $100 for delivery and hope he will refund the difference when I organise with him to pick up.

  • +3

It would be nice to see all this guys getting banned from eBay. Hate that people.

    http://www.roflcat.com/images/cats/This_Is_Why_We_Cant_Have_…

    • In regards to those listings their electronics etc in the incorrect category, I can understand about the posters above complaining about them.

But you would have thought, after the Kogan incident last time, they would be more vigilant this time. Some of the Ipad listings have been up there for like 12 hours. And I'm sure more than 1 Ozbargainer has taken the time out to report the listings.

    • -1

if eBay & Paypal don't charge high fees no body will do it.
and who sell things from an account and buy them from another account, they are greedy nothing will stop them even now. the can list something look really legible and buy it from another account. how ebay will tell who is really selling something or fake it??

  • +4

Are there any Weber Q Q2000's left from trustworthy sellers? I don't feel comfortable sticking money down with some guy who has 80 feedback and claims to have 100 of them.

    • +3

Especially when one of his offers is this dodgy: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BBQ-425-DOLLAR-BONUS-CASH-BACK-OF…

      • What's the non-marked up price of one of these usually? I'm seeing some for over $500…

      • Why is that dodgy? Just like the gifte transaction but better?

        • +2

Dodgy as in, he/she is trying to abuse the system and in case ebay finds out and shuts the account down, I would like to see what happens to all those cashbacks and the Q2000s as well?

        • @skatoz: I believe the first cashback has already been sent!

        • +2

@chill: Proof? And if ebay deems him to be doing a fraud, you'll end up paying the whole $500.

        • +1

Looks like his price has gone up from $460 to $500.

Luckily this more reputable seller has it for $410 Shipped-

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-MODEL-Bbq-Lp-Q2000-Weber-Q-/1…

    • That guy? Would stay away too!

Only pick-up SE QLD it seems. Was good for me, though.

Edit: Too slow I was, but completely agree, that is dodgy as.

  • +3

Honestly what a debacle - surely so many fake listers and vendors jacking their prices up ONLY for this sale - makes the whole thing a negative PR exercise IMHO.

    • At this rate, I wonder if we will see any more eBay sales again

    • What did eBay expect? Aussies love a Bargain and a BBQ - Sellers are going to try any tactic in the book and IMO eBay are powerless to do much really.

      • +6

They should just go back to 15% off everything.

  • I'd like a Webber but I'm just too lazy to look after it, after cooking and a few beers I'm just not in the mood to clean it and then it gets forgotten about. A good deal and thanks for posting it :)

    • Doesn't take much cleaning. I don't clean it after using it. I just heat it up on high for about ten minutes then scrape the crud off before I use it again.

  • +3

A field day for fraud police.

  • hmmmmm question.. if i get the webber deal from goodguys:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm//111438903248?_trksid=p2053399.m2…

    then I buy this stand:
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Weber-Q100-Q200-Rolling-Cart-Bran…
will i get 50% off as the stand is listed in: Home & Garden>Outdoor Living>BBQ Replacement Parts

also can you use the code twice on the one ebay account?

    • +1

I bought the stand from BCF and did not get 50% off.

    • No, the stand won't get 50% off because it's not in the "BBQ" category. I tried. Not sure about using the code twice though.

  • anyone seen a weber q baby cover that works with half price also?

  • tried to buy a Weber q full vinyl cover , but code doesn't allow for it.

It must be only for items under bbq section

  • Any recommendations? This is really hard to look through. My wife wants a weber, is the Weber Family Q Q305AU a good one for $599 - $250?
I'm not too fussed though. Any other nice BBQ to recommend around the $500 mark (before discount)? Pickup from Brisbane or shipped.

    • That's a great price for the Q305AU, You're lucky that you can pick up from Queensland.

      • Is it worthwhile compare to conventional BBQ? It's still a lot more than another brand.

There's also the Weber® Family Q™ (Q3100AU) for $689, but obviously it would be preferable to stay closer to the $500 mark.

    • My wife bought the Q2000. Mid-size new model, not too far to drive.

  • Not buying this myself but have a mate who is having trouble checking out.
Can somebody please tell me exactly which stage the code is added?
Where does the redemption box appear?

    • +1

It appears on the checkout page.

      • Thanks thats what I thought, the eBay checkout page. Its called "redemption" or something right?
He says its not working for him. Weird.

NVM. He stuffed it lol. All good now

  • I bought a Weber Q200 (Next model from the baby Q) and got a decent price. RRP is $389 purchased for $359 so half price was $174.95 + Free Pick-up from around the corner. Bloody beautiful !

    • aren't they sold out now?? i want one but can't seem to see it

    • Is it still available Moots?

      • Sorry guys, there was only one left. I purchase the last one.

  • -3

    sorry

If any one's planning to sell BBQ version of LG G3 or any BBQ version of high end mobiles (in a reasonable price off course :) ), please let me know ;)

  • Wish I had known about this earlier, seems very empty when looking for bbqs now, I'm assuming all the good ones are sold out. Can't even find a decent kettle bbq, weird. Will probably buy a weber q though, if it doesn't sell out by the time we've made up our mind :p

  • +2

Thanks just bought the Q2000 for $230 delivered, hopefully the seller will honour the sale, he sold 141x Q2000 so far!

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Weber-Q-Q2000-LPG-BBQ-Brand-New-B…

Now just have to buy the Weber Cart, anyone manage to find Weber standing cart that is eligible for 50% discount?? thanks

NB: Actually I might want to wait for him to honour the sale first lol

    • I'd say this guy brought 200 off the deal that expired due to stoc @ 1/2 price and is now onselling them for 200% profit..

with the hope that he first gets them delivered to himself then re-sends them onto you.

    • +1

Carts are not eligible for the sale. You are at a massive risk to lose your money.

    • Do you know if you have to get the New cart to suit the the Q2000 series?? or is it back compatible with the old cart?

  • +2

After a lot of browsing.. and cursing the weber's are gone… i found something even better for my balcony of my place - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gasmate-Ignite-Compact-Folding-BB…?

quite modern and a bargain for under $200! :@)

  • If anyone is after a Dual Fuel Rotisserie/BBQ this is a pretty good price.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gasmate-Dual-Fuel-Spit-Roaster-GS…

    • No, pretty reputable sellers

  • What does this mean in the T&C

    1. This offer cannot be withdrawn into your bank account and cannot be transferred.
  • Sooo.. I'm able to do 2 transactions with the code… I'm afraid to go ahead because they could reneg on my buy. might just make another account.

edit: went through with the 2nd transaction. no problems

  • +3

This one is $280 with $20 shipping before CSIZZLE50:

So should be $140 + $20 = cheaper than TGG

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-MODEL-Bbq-Lp-Baby-Q-Weber-Q10…

    • man, you guys are quick…all gone already!!! :(

      • +1

        It's back, act quick!

Edit: Sorry only the Q100 is back, not the Q1000.

    • Got one of these, great price :)

  • Has anyone heard of a Lotus Grill before? Looks interesting due to it being charcoal and 100% portable. I saw a video which has someone holding it/ moving it during BBQ cooking. Selling in eBay for $200-$300. Am considering getting this but would like some feedback if anyone has used it before.

    • i just grabbed one, been wanting something similar for a while but at full price they are way to expensive imo. apparently they take a little getting used to which is mostly the same as any charcoal bbq and can tend to cook unevenly which again is something to get used to with any bbq i guess.

the pluses for me was the quick start up time and the small amount of charcoal it seems to use and obviously that epic charcoal meat flavour, cant wait to try it out

      • Thanks got one as well.

        • mine came today at 11:37, by 12pm i had it unboxed, picked some smaller bits of charcoal for it, had it lit and then my steak cooked :) epically happy with it.

thinking about modding it already tho for a more even cook, i have some ideas i need to think through
