4520
CSIZZLE50

Looks like anything listed as a 'BBQ' under the BBQ category will be entitled to a 50% off discount this sunday! (Max $250 discount)

"The offer entitles you to a 50% discount off the total purchase price (excluding postage) of BBQs in the BBQs category on www.ebay.com.au purchased during the Offer Period."

Hopefully we see some other stuff listed in the category too (assuming that works).

WARNING:
eBay have just added this line to their T's and C's:

eBay reserves the right to disallow or reverse a discount in circumstances where it believes a sale or purchase of any BBQ or other item as part of this sale has not been made in good faith. This includes any collusive conduct by buyers or sellers or any other conduct which eBay considers to be unfair or untoward.

(Thanks JDF)
Be wary of buying items that aren't BBQ's in the category with the discount!

Regardless, anyone after a BBQ should check out eBay this sunday!

  • 1 transaction only (per account)
  • Multiple items per transaction allowed
  • $250 max discount ($500 spend)
  • Must pay with PayPal
  • Must purchase during the offer period (Sunday)

        • Got the Family Q cover for half price. Not working on any other accessories.

        • @stemcell: Someone else said it does :S has anyone done it successfully, I might just have to purchase on separate eBay account.

        • @Ahan: Thanks mate, chatting to eBay support now to confirm

        • @yacman: Turns out you cant pay for an item without a freight response, so since the seller is not replying I can't purchase the item, it seems like a flaw in the sale since I am not trying to abuse the system unlike many others. But most BBQ's are going to be freight, so how are we suppose to purchase these items on a Sunday when it is not a day of business?

So after asking if I could get the item discounted tomorrow when I get the freight quote back and trying to come up with a solution with online support, they said it's not possible and ended the chat before I could reply :|

        • @yacman: Took almost half my day with back-and-forth between store and eBay but I ended up being promised that I'd receive 50% credit after I got the full invoice and paid in full (which happened Monday). Can't confirm the credit yet, however.

    • T&C state 1 transaction per account. Read the OP.
Good chance discount will get removed from everything apart from the first transaction.

  • Anyone found any decent 4 or 6 burners for pickup in Melbourne. There were some good ones available in Sydney earlier, but postage was too much.

  • Is tom_9_8_7 an ozbargain member? The guy has sketchy feedback and now has sold over $170,000 worth of weber BBQs… If he is drop shipping from masters that about $18,000 profit…

    • I emailed this seller as I was sceptical whether he could meet the demand - this is the reply i got:

      Hi mate.

I do hope so. I am drop shipping through a major Australian bulky goods retailer. Maybe my cashback BBQ would be more to your interest as that is guaranteed in stock and then with the cashback you can select the BBQ of your dreams. Check it out at http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=171440…

      Cheers
      Tom.
      - tom_9_8_7

I ended up getting one through another seller. should be interesting to see how it goes..

      • So I wonder which "major Australian bulky goods retailer" he is referring to?

      • when did you email the seller? he isn't replying my message and it is quite urgent

        • about midday yesterday

    • also he forgot about the 50% discount with max $250 off.
eg he's asking $540 for the Q2000 and states the following in the item description
"allows the buyer to pay only $270"

    • +3

      Probably is an OzBargain member.
      http://i.imgur.com/BxSrs5A.jpg

    • actually it's more like 5.5-6k profit, since he's offering express shipping. (assuming he actually delivers it by express)

    • I bought one from him for $230 for weber q2000 though after seeing he has sold more than 300 of them, I am kinda skeptic now. Anyone else bought from Tom?

      • Just got a generic email from Tom saying he will process the sale through appliances online. Looks legit till now.

        • Well at least the buyers will know that they get warranty then. Wonder if he approached AO first to organise this.

  • Looks like all the $339 Weber Q200/2000's are gone. TGG/BCF don't look like restocking and the cheeky bugger in Brisbane/Springwood has started raising his price and has ridiculous postage…

Anyone found a sub $400 Weber Q200/2000 from a store for under $400 including postage to Vic?

Pickup Slacks Creek QLD (Brisbane), 6 left at the moment

    • is it worth spending an extra $55 to get the 2000 model?

      • sold out

  • +1

Just me or is masters getting hammered right now by their loyal (drop ship) customers?

    Their website is very slow?
    Or maybe just me

    • never knew masters offers drop shipping? Can you provide a link for more information?

    • Since when does masters do drop shipping?

      • +2

Masters have the stock on hand and he is placing orders and putting the buyers address down as the delivery address. Masters don't drop ship. But I don't think he is using masters as they don't list the new Q2000 or Q1000 on the site.

        • +4

He is using appliances online they have the Q2000 and Q1000 also his shipping info matches
          http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/nsw-delivery-areas/
          http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/victoria-delivery-areas/
          http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/queensland-delivery-areas…
          Same for the other states.

        • @Trueno:
Sucked in for him if they run out of stock and he has to refund (hope they do)
Because his smart assed greed is disgusting.

        • @King Tightarse:

Pretty sure they will run out of stock. Surely they won't have 280 Q2000 on hand

        • +1

They'll do a Western Digital on him.

        • -1

          @abracadabra:
good! and yeah I agree those numbers are unlikely

        • +1

          @King Tightarse:

I am curious how much he will earn if he successfully delivers all of his orders

        • +1

@abracadabra: By my estimation, around $30000. Not bad for a days work :p

If anyone bought from him, let us know how it goes.

        • -1

          @raven2000:
Wow thats a new car. What a Mutha-humper.

        • @raven2000: so…. how much does that mean its cost fleabay?

surely this promotion has cost them well over 6 figures?

        • +4

          @nosdan:
No love for the bastards from me. Their fees are ridiculous these days. They should pay us back. We, the customers have paid for this many times over.

        • +1

@nosdan: Definitively. I'd say their cost would be over a million. 4000 of items sold for $500/$250 would cost them 1 million.

This guy himself has cost ebay $100000.

Note: I'm not calculating the ~10% of ebay fees.

        • @raven2000:
Yeah, I would like to hear the outcome too.

        • +1

@raven2000: I did buy from him. And now reading all this I feel sick….1. cos I might not get my much wished for weber, and 2. for being so stupid as to be potentially conned (am not very ebay savvy). All I can hope for is that if he does supply any, that he does it on a first served basis as I got my order in at 10.01am. I will keep you posted.

        • +7

@Hen: Hey, there's no need to feel bad about it. You're getting it cheaper, and he's making some money. The only loser is ebay, and who cares about them.

Worst case scenario is that you don't get it supplied (=refund), or that you have to wait a few weeks.

        • @Hen: I was about to place an order with him the noticed another one of his posts which looked dodge. Went with TGG in the ends.

        • @Hen:
Yeah dont worry too much Hen.
Hopefully he was placing the orders as they came in. If so you will probably be OK. Its as the day wore on and the numbers went up that supply issues could turn up. The very worst thing that could happen with PayPal is nothing IE a refund but no loss.

        • @jlogic: wish I had have too. TGG postage rates bugged me at the time (they're just up the road), but I should certainly have overlooked that now it seems. Well, fingers crossed I do eventually get my BBQ.

        • @King Tightarse: thanks KT. Yes, thank goodness there's a refund to fall back on…….but I'll still be pretty disappointed

        • Note his listing states "No Returns Accepted".

        • @Sober Thoughts: I can't imagine the logistical nightmare it would be. Anyways he would need to under the ACL especially for faulty goods.

        • @raven2000: Just got a generic email from Tom saying he will process the sale through appliances online. Looks legit till now.

        • @zone: same. Feeling much more confident now. Phew!

    • ment by

ebay seller sells to buyer for the bbq deal
ebay seller buys from retailer online and ships to buyer directly

i doubt masters would dropship in their supply chain. they would be either in stock or warehouse, or listed as no stock

  • This person with 88 feedback and never selling a BBQ before on ebay has sold 293 @ $500 + 193 @ $375 + 14 @ $540, can't see it happening.

    Linky: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Weber-baby-Q-Q1000-LPG-BBQ-Brand-…

    • Yeah we're just discussing him the comment thread above :p

      • I will laugh if he needed to fufil the order because eBay didn't want negative press and withheld the promo from his PayPal account.

        • how can he fulfil all 293 Q2000 when appliances online don't even have that many stock on hand. Unless appliances online order more from Weber, which delays delivery time.

        • @abracadabra: dont forget he had 45 days to fulfil the orders

        • @nosdan:

From my point of view, you might disagree. But he says delivery should be expected between 8 and 10 Sep. No way I am waiting up to 45 days only lodging a PayPal claim. It is his responsibility as a middle man to put a limit of orders he can fulfill.

        • @abracadabra:
yeah 293 Q2000's in boxes would take up a lot of warehouse space.
Highly unlikely to be on hand and ready for dispatch
          EDIT:
Gonna save his eBay ID and watch the negs burn

        • @abracadabra: while i understand your point, the rules say he has up to 45 days to have it at your door step. assuming he sends them registered so can prove they are on there way to you you have no leg to stand on if you claim goods not received

        • @nosdan:

If that's eBay rules, I guess time will tell what he will do with those extra load. Favs the listing and his eBay page, and I am suspecting either negs will fly in or his account will be ban.

EDIT: He is cunning it used to be $460 for the Q2000, he increased the price to $500.

        • +3

@abracadabra: his account will not get banned, i have seen FAR worse sellers doing FAR dodgier stuff who are still trading on there, as for negs? so what? if hes used an account with 80 pluses and made $30k from it today alone… throw it away and spend a grand making another account selling cheap shit at a loss simply for pluses?

        • @nosdan: I highly doubt he'd be able to withdraw the 30k from paypal. In my experience if you have more than 1k in your paypal, it gets limited until you can send in ID and other documents because of this irregular activity. His ebay account may be ok but im pretty sure his paypal account is screwed.

        • @babecake: no your absolutely wrong. i have had over $1k in my PP before and have never given them my ID etc (they keep asking me, but cant force me). the only thing i cant do is close my PP account…… tho when ebay/pp got hacked a few months ago and someone tried to take $400 out of my PP account i could block PP from taking money out of my bank account with out any issues.

        • +1

@nosdan: well its happened to me and a number of other sellers where they froze the funds so that i couldnt withdraw the money out of my account. So your situation may have been unique but you cant call me "absolutely wrong"

        • +1

@King Tightarse: You would be surprised of how little warehouse space 293 Q2000's in boxes would take.

        • @bigticket: probably around 8 pallet loads? which is maybe around 3m2 or 4m2 of floor space in a warehouse (assuming they stack high enough as i have experienced in warehouses)

edit: more importantly, being that ive been involved in importing container loads of stuff, its probably only maybe 1/10th of a container load?

        • @nosdan:
I wonder what amounts of stock onhand would be considered reasonable and normal for an item like this? I have no idea about warehouse logistics at all.Comment above was just what I 'reckoned'. Lol

        • @King Tightarse: at least in my experience they dont import so much on stock level as such, they import "just in time".. in other word they only import to try and keep minimum stock levels… but…. they will only import a whole container load of stock… but that container maybe be every item they sell or even shared with other importers as well.

id have to go back and check the actual cubic capacity of a 40ft container, but it holds a LOT of stock, and all these self assembly items are designed to fit best in a container and within other freight options. its no accident that no matter what you buy its all a fraction of pallet/container size.

    • +1

Does that mean he has got that amount deposited into his paypal account today??? Imagine the interest he could earn from just one day AND the amount of frequent flyer points!

      • Haha that's the ozbargain spirit :)

        • Darn, why didnt I think of this earlier…

      • +2

He would have just over $200,000 sitting in his Paypal account if everyone has paid…. His ebay fees for this month would be like $25,000….

        • wonder if he can withdraw that out of his PP into his bank account, block his bank account from letting PP take any money out (which i have done, as explained above) the walk off with the money

surely it would end up being some sort of fraud thing?

        • And when he pays for the stuff on appliancesonline using his credit card. BANG! 200,000 frequent flyer points plus the profit he makes.

        • +1

          @nosdan:
Feds will be onto him for sure!

        • +3

          @mmd:
Actually the tax dept will be plenty interested.

        • @mmd:
And 4% cashback if he uses cashrewards (Appliances online)!

        • With the amount of sales his account will be flagged for reporting to the ATO. I hope he has thought this through.

      • Interest on money in paypal account? FF points? How?

        • It's a hypothetical, but he could pay appliancesonline using numerous interest free credit cards and earn FF points. As nosdan said above, he could potentially withdraw Paypal money in his bank account and earn interest.

  • +1

    Yay got a Q1000AU for $144.50!

    • Hrmmm was all sold out. Did they restock?

      • +1

The Good Guys stock was up and down all day like a bride's nightie.
I got a Q1000 too. Looking forward to some fine roasted meats.
Think I will do a rack of ribs first.

        • will guarantee ttg were in constant contact with weber and updating there stock on a p.o.s basis which will make it interesting for appliancesonline, grab the popcorn sit back and watch this should be fun

    • where did u get it? thanks!

  • Hey, couple of questions from a newbie? Firstly, the coupon code. I go to click buy it now and the next page I get is a 'commit to buy' page. Not sure I want to click commit to buy without being able to enter the code and see that it discounts first.. this normal? Second, is the code still valid… approaching 11pm.

This is the one I'm looking at.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Weber-Q-Q2000AU-New-for-2014/3215…

    Cheers.

    • +3

you can add it to your cart first, then go through your cart and use the coupon before committing i beleive, at least that worked for me earlier

      • Cheers, that worked. The code still works as well.

One final question if you can help me out. This particular listing does not mention if it is LPG or NG. In fact it has sweet — all info. Likelihood of it being NG? I can't exactly ring up and ask now..

  • I wasn't going to buy anything since all the good stuff was sold out (and because we don't really need a new bbq), but couldn't help looking real quick before going to bed. Now with the q2000 at $200 (after discount) with local pickup, it's too tempting, argh. A little bit worried about size, but maybe it's good enough since the entire area is supposed to be even temperature. Can always buy a (cheap?) cart later.

EDIT: aaand bought for $199.50. Can't really argue with the price, hopefully the Weber lives up to all the hype.

  • Whats the grill dimensions of the Q100?

    • Q100

      • Total Grilling Area Approximately 1200cm2

      https://www.masters.com.au/product/900021814/weber-baby-q-bb…

    • as mentioned it is 1200cm2. However, the q200/2000 is 50% bigger at 1800cm2. Currently it seems like the smaller one is $145 and the medium one is $200. If you are able to pick up locally, it seems to me that the Q2000 is a better buy (unless you specifically want a really small one of course, for camping etc). Either way, they both seem to be in stock now (pending on your location).

      • Nope, im actually after the actual width and length of the grill. Can't seem to find any info on it.

I got the q100 from good guys and want to know if my hotplate fits on it.

  • Cheers guys, bought it. I noticed the NG version retailed for a bit more. Was just cautious because the dude (chick), let's be honest, dude, has like 4 lines in the description, wouldn't put it past him/her to leave that out. He also has the same model listed for $100 dearer… lol I dunno?

    and the Q1000 for $289..
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Weber-baby-Q-Q1000AU-New-for-2014…

Seems like a reasonable seller with over 1000 reps and a bricks and mortar biz. Will find out soon I guess.

    • +1

Yeah, looks like a proper store from what I can tell, just bought the same one. I assumed it was LPG since the description was lacking in information.

  • got the q2000,
been wanting a weber for ages, great deal.
