  • This might just end up being the next model of pirating. OP pays $2 (or free in this case). Shares account.
Now, if they're to block more than one stream at a time, OP could argue that he was 'loaning' a product to user.

Edit: Who am I kidding? No one would invest $2 :P

  • Bugger, It won't work for me. I haven't had an optical drive on my machines for years.

  • I buy a lot of Ultraviolet codes off Ebay. I've converted a chunk of my disc library to digital on Vudu but recently started using Ezyflix through Chromecast. This is a bonanza for me :)

About to sell all my DVDs and Blurays too.

    • Might want to keep in mind that in the terms and conditions they can ask for proof of purchase (or perhaps current ownership) for anything you're converting through Ezyflix.

      • Yes you'd need to have proof of ownership or else any one could borrow or even rent out a movie from a video store and then claim a free digital download copy.

      • Cross that bridge when I get to it.

  • $2 per blu-ray vs cost of AnyDVD. Although there are pros and cons with each.

  • +2

So close, but no console app, who the hell watches HD movies on their desktop/laptop (OK, I know a lot of people do) but everyone has a console of some sort, I'm not keen to buy another device no matter how cheap/small, just to watch digital movies when my console should be all I need. Range seems limited too, I looked for a few favourites which were not previously available in the cloud and most still are not (Back to the Future is, so that's my free one). Hoping that also changes, having this fragmented media library over multiple clients is what's holding back the success of this model, which I'm fully willing to embrace, as long as I can at least use all the different clients on one platform (a console!).

    • I used to whinge about the same. I eventually gave up and just got a Chromecast. Useful for stuff which isn't on console.

    • Um, once you get the movie onto Ultraviolet you can play it in any service that supports it - which includes Flixster and Vudu, which do have XBOX 360 and PS3 apps.

      E.g. http://www.vudu.com/setup_ps3.html

      • As far as I know, Vudu doesn't support Australian ultraviolet codes. Also not all movies are available through all services.

There's a 15 movie difference between my Vudu and Flixter accounts for example (130 movies).

My Amazing Spiderman 2 is available on EzyFlix but not JB Hifi Now.

But you're right about UV. The thing I like about it is that you can access your library through multiple services and apps. Making it easier to maintain a single library of content.

  • So I had a play with this service tonight. Seems the only library available is Warner Bros. Even then it's quite limited. Has 3 out of 4 Lethal Weapons. Type in Batman and you get 4 movies, none from the same series, ie Batman Begins is there but not Dark Knight or Rises and the only one from the previous series is Batman and Robin. Same with Superman, the only one available is Returns.

  • I used this code today, so thanks OP. Only problem is, I have a UV account, EzyFlix can see the one movie I have unlocke don my UV account. I also have a Vudu account, which can also see that same UV movie. I was under the impression that movies purchased or converted in Ezyflix would be available via my UV account, but I can't see the movie I just converted in my UV account, or on Vudu. Is there some restriction blocking this? (the movie is The Breakfast Club, it's available on Ezyflix and Vudu so it's not a library/availability thing).

Any ideas? Has anyone converted a movie on Ezyflix and been able to see it in their UV library?

    • If it's anything like the problem I had, it's probably a region thing. The movie you're after is not available (even if the SAME movie is available it's coded differently or something). Definitely one of the ways UV fails to deliver on its rather ambitious promises.

I converted a bunch of movies using a US Vudu deal but can't get Ezyflix to honour any of them (wrong region, it says).

      • Yeah, that makes sense and I agree, makes UV a bit of a joke. I have the same problem between UV and Ezyflix, I redeemed one movie with a US UV code and while Ezyflix sees it in my UV collection, it's marked as "Unavailable on ezyflix.tv" whatever that means.

In addition to that, I own a good number of region 1 DVD's and I can't even get the Vudu converter to recognise them, even when my DVD drive is set to Region 1, and there's really no point converting any of my Region 4 with Ezyflix because I can't watch any of them on the PS4, which is the main reason I have embraced Vudu, a decision I am re-evaluating after realising the weaksauce UV restrictions.

        • For what it's worth, for R1 DVDs I think the exact same deal exists as the one in this post but in US…

EDIT: wait I think you may have said that you've already tried it.

        • @zzyss:

Yeah no worries, I have already tried the Vudu app for Region 1 DVD's and it wont even recognise the discs, even when the drive is set to Region 1, it's a shame, I'd be willing to pay to upgrade all my current DVD's to HD, I'll have to try again to see if I can figure out what's going on.

        • @Scratch2k:

Ironically, it worked for me using some R4 DVDs, some of which it recognised.
