  • PS. Not expired .. this offer still works.

  • is it still going? Not sure if it works as I wasn't getting the free shipping ans seem to be following the rules.

    • Still working here.

Saved $105 in shipping all up, thanks Amex.

      • I didn't get the option for standard shipping so I just started a chat and forwarded the link to the customer service rep when they asked. (click on the Go To Deal button and it shows the terms and conditions on the Amazon page). So the customer rep waived the shipping fees for me.

That was about 5 hours ago, so still working today. It's now past midnight (US EST) and the Amex page is still up. I'm not sure where the comment about the deal expiring on 31 December came from, but it's not in the terms and conditions.

So I would treat it as a running promotion, and if you run into trouble, talk to customer support.

        • seems to not work anymore. I had it working this arvo now doesn't work.

        • yeah just did a test. concur.

        • I did the smart thing of creating an order with an item that is temporarily out of stock. I can keep adding items to that open order. :)

        • @knackers:

How do you exactly get an open order? Did Amazon rep offer you to reimburse your shipping cost when you make an order shipped either by Amazon or fulfilled by amazon? and you can just keep on coming back to the offer?

        • @readannie: open order = creating an order with an item that is temporarily out of stock

I did this during the free delivery promotional period

        • @knackers:
Do items you add get free post and can you still do it now?

        • +1

@mmarab: No, I tried it yesterday. The order gets re-issued with a new date stamp. However i was able to sweet-talk the Amazon girl into giving me free delivery. Saved $50

          @knackers:

Ok thanks. Found stuff that would have been good to add. If you can do it during the promotional period at least that'd be nice for next time (hoping for another!).

        • @knackers: Thanks, so sweet talk an amazon rep does the job :)

        • +1

@readannie: I like to brandish them with unwarranted compliments

          "You're doing great…"
          "Keep up the good work.."

          and the obligatory niceties..

They have a few scripted responses they love to use. Sometimes you feel you're talking to a bot. I find myself repeating the same thing over and over. I remain patient because I know there is a $5 - $15 promo credit waiting for me at the end. I've nabbed over $50 in free money this past month (and free delivery on bulky items).

I picked up a ripper deal moments ago, with free delivery of course.

        • @knackers: They indeed have scripted replies. There were instances where they didn't even seem to read my queries properly enough and just offerend me refund for the sake of just going through as many queries as possible within the hr I suppose.

I know most of the time you will get refund or credit when you contacted the rep when you have problem with your order but I feel guilty for supposedly taking 'advantage' of it if you know what I mean.

        • @readannie:

Thats very true. I had a large cast iron pot from Amazon get shipped in the same box as a couple of other things. One of the other items got squashed from the weight of the pot. Contacted Amazon and the rep just refunded the whole order without question. I just assumed that they refunded the one item that I told them about, but when I checked my CC the whole order had been done.

        • @John Stone: In my case, I didnt even ask for a refund. I was simply quoting Amazon, how much postage fee on returning their damage item would cost and whether I would get reimbursed for it. The reply that I got seem to indicate that the rep thought I have returned the item and still seeking my reimbursement and he reimbursed the cost straight away. Which was strange to me since I have not even filed a return case.

Farewell Amazing Amazon Amex offer. I'll miss you… but my wallet won't.

Used this offer maybe 6-7 times. Stocking up in the dark days of declining AUD. Actually struggled to find things to buy near the end… not like me at all lol.

Looks like it expired on the 31st US time.

The promo page on the Amazon website has also been pulled.

Was an awesome offer. Hopefully it will be around again later this year. Was awesome to be able to Christmas shopping for about 1/2 the cost.
