Damn it, you beat me to it.

  • +7

Well this wipes out the savings using 28 degrees.

    • -1

      what?

      • +11

I believe bym means that despite potentially worse international transaction and foreign currency fees on the AMEX card compared to 28 degrees, the free shipping more than makes up for it.

        • +4

          not true

My ssds and ram sticks are cheaper with 28degrees + shipping than Amex rate + free shipping

        • +1

Not when shipping is only $6

        • @furythree:

Where can I see current Amex exchange rate?
And how much is their conversion fee?

    • -3

      Can someone confirm this?

      • +4

        It's a no brainer.

  • +1

Expected this to be a shitty limited offer like Dick Smith's regular trash, but up to 20lbs?

    Awesome.

    • +9

For those of us who use metric 20lbs = 9.07Kg

  • +8

Real amex cards only or bank issued also?

    • +2

Just for better visibility as I had to scroll through to find the answer, yes it works for bank issued AMEX as well.

  • +2

Limited time offer… here's hoping it will still be around for Black Friday next week. Now to figure out what's worth buying, something under 9Kg that shipping would normally kill

  • -3

    "larger than 16” x 14” x 10” or over 20 lbs."

As you have highlighted…. is a bit of a deal breaker!

    • +1

Why? Plenty of stuff smaller than that.

      • your right that was a bit of an exaggeration, however, I've found that amazon has had pretty good delivery prices for smaller items to Australia… 6 dollar shipping for PC cards etc…however when you get into the bigger items it jumps exponentially.
shame I don't have an amex though :(

        • +1

"shame I don't have an amex though :("

Just give a mate who has AMEX the cash for the purchase, and get them to order it for you.

  • -2

    anything worth mentioning on amazon?

i looked up some of the xiaomi battery banks and there seems to be a lot of fakes out there.

    • +9

Is there anything worth buying on Amazon, literally the largest online store on earth?

      • +14

        Do they sell eneloops?

        • +3

You can buy your groceries, and probably a baby moose

    • +1

instead of negging the comment, maybe tell me whats wrong with it.

not sure why im being negged for

      • +2

"instead of negging the comment, maybe tell me whats wrong with it."

I'm not trying to be rude/patronising t25, but surely you understood the 'thinly veiled meaning' behind jjcf's comment?!?

        • no idea what jjcf is trying to say. even after you brought it up, im still trying to get the "meaning" of it.

some things ive found on amazon to be pricier than local, others are cheaper, some even have pricing errors. i just thought maybe we could share some good bargains.

        • +2

@t25: I think he's implying that it's almost impossible for you not to find anything. Amazon has everything, if you can't find it there you're not trying hard enough! Price wise I would disagree with you. Especially with free shipping. Personally I find it to be one of the cheaper options if not the cheapest.

Edit. Might be harder now with falling dollar but it's still pretty competitive I find. Especially with clothes/shoes.

  • +14

Shipping cost was never that significant on Amazon unless you were only buying a few cheap things. The problem is more that the majority of the items don't ship here.

  • +10

Board games are usually heaps cheaper on Amazon then local but the shipping kills it.

    • +1

      My first thought too.

    • At $4 per pound, games can be expensive. With a 20 pound limit for this offer, one could purchase at least 3 heavy Ameritrash games… I lack an American Express card to take advantage of this offer though, and I have enough anyway to keep me busy.

      • I was thinking along the same lines, except moreso with heavy Eurogames instead of Ameritrash, but was concerned about the "Offer does not apply to items larger than 16” x 14” x 10”. Wouldn't that pretty much mean you could only fit 1-2 reasonable-but-not-insane sized boxes in package before it starts to come close to hitting the limit?

      • wait, just realised - does the size limit apply per item, to to the combined pile of items? Could i order 10 items, as long as each one is no larger than those limits? Or would the items combined all have to stack into a pile smaller than the limits listed..

  • +1
    • Not bad, unless if you want a few more games bundled plus local warranty etc. It's still pretty good.

      • Not worth it to have a NTSC system though unless you were planning to import games

        • +2

          That's a HUGE concern.

Wait, is it still 1995? Nevermind.

        • @jjcf:
It's still region locked for blurays

US region disks can be cheaper but still something to rmemeber.

  • awww was going to buy this and save the postage but it is 1 cent short at $99.99USD

Terms don't say it has to just be 1 singular item from what I can tell. Bundle with something cheap?

    • -deleted-

  • once per account?
    terms aren't very clear..

also has anyone figured out how big the box will be if purchasing multiple items? or do they figure that out for you @ checkout?

  • Dollar rate ain't all that but can still snap up good deals

  • Lots of +ves (including mine) but WHAT TO BUY?!

  • can any one show me where is the “AmazonGlobal Eligible” filter on left side column.
I can not find it except

    International Shipping
    Ship to Australia
    Eligible for Free Shipping
    Free Shipping by Amazon

    • +2

"Ship to Australia" is the updated text for AmazonGlobal Eligible.

  • tried to buy iRobot Braava 380t, according to Amazon:
    Product Dimensions: 9.6 x 8.5 x 3.1 inches ; 4 pounds
    Shipping Weight: 8 pounds
but it still charges me shipping, do not know why

    • -1

      -

    • Is the seller Amazon or another seller? "Offer applies only to products sold and shipped by Amazon.com through AmazonGlobal."

  • +2

Thank you ,Spackbace , and ozbargain.
just talk with Amazon to get my shipping fee back(USD$34)from the order I placed last night.
Have to say Amazon have very good service and shopping experience.

    • +1

yeah Amazon are awesome. I once put in a wrong address on an order (had been using a random US Address for Appstore purchases/downloads) .. didn't notice till 2 weeks later and the item hadn't arrived .. told Amazon Support in chat what I had done and asked if I could do a 'returns' box to that address - maybe they will return the items? The Amazon rep just gave me a full refund (it was $300 worth of stuff) and I reordered again.

      • Can second that. When I was in America I sent someone a gift to their house. It missed them and they left the country permanently the next day. It was my fault and had nothing to do with Amazon. Full refund of item plus shipping.

        Noice.

    • +2

Amazon customer service has been amazing whenever I have had an issue…refunding items, shipping, even whole order on one occasion.

    • Wish I could say the same.

Had a dodgy seller who cancelled the item I'd bought after I bought it saying not available, then listed it again. Complained to Amazon and all they could say was that's the seller's choice, as long as I got a refund. So much for seller integrity and standing behind what they sell.

  • +1

i select amazon global but also do not see free shipping, does anyone see the free shipping option?

If i add something small i get these options

AmazonGlobal Standard Shipping (averages 9-12 days)
AmazonGlobal Expedited Shipping (averages 7-11 business days)
AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping (averages 2-5 days)

This is the one referenced in the deal: AmazonGlobal Standard Shipping (averages 9-12 days)
but it keep adding shipping fees? confusing!

    • was it over the 100 threshold to get free shipping?

      • yes, $329. It does does not work and I cannot find the amazon global filter. Really would like to buy something, Item dimension also under requirements.

        • I tried a few sample checkouts.. you still click the Global standard shipping.. they still charge you on the last checkout page but directly under that line they minus that amount

        • @ynot1985: Ok, got it. it's key to ensure to pickup items from amazon global only which is somewhat difficult to see. thank you.

          Items: $119.99
          Shipping & handling: $5.65
          AmazonGlobal Promo: -$5.65
          Total before tax: $119.99
Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00
          Order total: $119.99

above was a random item as i still cannot filter for amazon global. But I'm actually trying to get this one, but it just does not work:

        • looks like only Expedited Shipping and Priority Shipping available for this one, no option for standard shipping

        • +1

          @drb:

Wow what did you buy for over $100 and get $5.95 shipping? Everything I've looked for has $40-50 ship for $80-90 spend.

        • @excite:

Yeah I noticed 'standard' shipping option seems to be missing now

    • FYI if you haven't figured it out yet, only Standard Shipping is free. Some items will not have Standard Shipping available even if it ships to Australia and will prevent you from getting the free shipping deal.

  • Can anyone recommend a good SSD for a Macbook Pro on Amazon?

    • Better off buy SSDs locally. Shopping express seems to have pretty good deals on OzB every so often. As for brands, go for Samsung or Intel.

      • Macbook SSD is not a normal SSD that can be purchased anywhere.

        • +1

          …Yes it is.

        • @algy:
Newer Macbooks have the SSD built into the motherboard

        • @Squeezy: That's gaked.

  • i'm excited

  • +2

    This is pretty great

    Order Summary
    Items (8): $225.55
    Shipping & handling: $83.16
    AmazonGlobal Promo: -$83.16

    • WHERE IS THAT AMAZON GLOBAL FILTER???? PLEASE HELP!!!

      • +1

It's been replaced with Ships to Australia for me. I think you're then left to find things sold by Amazon

        • Oh you can filter seller too

        • OK then i can see it, they should not write global filter if it says ships to australia (assuming it's the same). thank you.

        • @drb: It says 'amazon global eligible' for me. Right there on the left hand side, after you search for something.

        • @jjcf:
Also after searching sometimes "amazon global eligible" doesnt show up until you refine your search further. Example: you have to select a specific 'Department'. HTH

  • Offer does not apply to items larger than 16” x 14” x 10” or over 20 lbs., digital content, Kindle devices and accessories, and gift cards.

    Damn.

    • Item Weight 3 pounds
      Item Dimensions L x W x H 12.60 x 8.40 x 0.76 inches

  • +8

i have 35 pages of saved Items to sort through

  • 3% currency conversion fee charged by AMEX ruin the deal

    • +4

      let Amazon convert it?

      • it has the option for visa card, but when you choose the AMEX, their is not place your order in aud option

        • yeh i'm experiencing the same problem

        • +1

Unfortunately, I received this from a customer service guy.

To qualify to use the Amazon Currency Converter:

          • You must use an eligible Visa or MasterCard denominated in a supported currency.

          Amex doesn't qualify

        • @knackers: thanks

  • +4

All we need is a niché deal hunter like Trent86 to list them all down!

  • +8

If you are ordering multiple items you can also select 'I want my items faster. Ship items as they become available'. Shipping remains free!

    • thanks for the tip

  • Does anyone know the difference between Amazon Global and Amazon Export sales? The former is free shipping but later is not!

    • I think they are the same. I did a chat with them and they waived shipping on Amazon Export sales items.

  • +1

Anyone having problems trying to add a card to Amazon payment system. Its not accepting Westpac MC and AMEX! Called Amazon >>ring your bank>>>BANK ring AMAZON………the circle goes around….

    • Altitude FTW!
Haven't tried recently, but haven't noticed any problems before…

  • Thanks OP! Bought a son of hibachi, my old one is falling apart.

    • +3

      Bought a son of hibachi

Can people share what they are purchasing, I need ideas please, Xmas is around the corner :)

  • Asics kayano running shoes could be an option for some. I found kayano 20's for $89 US (about $103AU) in my size. Obviously need to buy something else to hit the $100 mark. Cheapest I've seen of late has been catch of the day at $150 a pair.
