Get one with bluetooth, you won't regret it.

thanks, just bought one with your 28 Degrees credit card … ;-)

      • No worries.
Maybe you could also thank Trent86 with a plus vote.

I wouldn't mind one myself. What's his card number?

        • My joke only worked when logged in desktop computer as it shows his avatar which is a 28 degrees Mastercard. Shows most of the numbers and guessed the rest ;-)

Ain't half as good as Alpine which I find much more user friendly.

      • +2

Sound wise I would prefer Pioneer.

  • +1

    How much to install it?

    • Local shops will take from $50 to $100 for unit only. Extra for speakers.

    • Depends on the car

    • 45 minutes

  • A few dollars more than last time (also posted by you)…

    • Yep another clearout but way less choice this time

  • Pioneer MXTX366BT 200W Multimedia Receiver with Bluetooth & 200 Watt Speaker Combo $88

      • It does have a band button going by the photos, I don't care about CD just hope it has FM lol

      • +2

Ive got the same radio but with the Cd player (looks identical though), its a pretty good player. Always connects to my phone and starts playing when i get in the car.

  • between Sony MEXN4050 BT and Pioneer 366BT which one should go

    • +1

Go in there and try them both, see which one you find easier, quality differences at this price isn't much to worry about.

  • Would love to get one of these aftermarket sound systems but I don't want to mess with the current head unit but I don't mind swapping out or adding speakers.

Anything I can do about it?

    • Buy yourself a UE Boom (it sounds amazing) or some other high end bluetooth speakers. Keep it in your car's center compartment. Easy.

  • How to tell if it compatible with my car? Like the plug, etc.

    • You'll need a wiring harness adapter to get it to match, aerpro make them. You get one to suit the head unit, one to suit the car.

    • Or look up on your cars wiring, manuals will say which wire is which, they are all color coded. Basically you have a power, an earth, speaker wires, wire to ignition, antenna, etc.. Once you know all these, just solder the wires together and you have saved at least 20 bucks buying the harnesses

  • sweet, bought the 366 with bluetooth. hopefully the promised android MTP support works!!! Pioneer seem to be hard in bed with apple only up until now.

also hope the plus type matches the current pioneer deck so I don't have to rewire!

my car is really old (25 yrs), would these work in it?

    • +12

yes, but the radio will only play classic hits from the 60s 70s & 80s

      • -1

        Oh no not more 1080

      • Spice Girls and Michael Jackson.

      • -1

need to do some rewiring, the plugs on the new units aren't compatible/shape/size with prehistorical connectors.

  • +3

    "Frontal USB In"

    Just sounds dirty IMO

  • Any differences between the $70 and $88 other than Bluetooth?

  • +3

might be able to get a $99 Home Bluray PLayer with the Sony mexn4050bt
through this promotion currently on with sony car equipment pickup the Bluray at the store point of purchase

basically you get this $99 Home Bluray PLayer & Sony mexn4050bt at $105 for $105..

will depend on who you get at jb and how strong you put your case… worked for me …

    • Can someone confirm that the car stereo and bonus bluray player are hard bundled? I want to buy online and don't want to have to chase them up for the bluray separately if they don't include it automatically.

      • +1

With mine it was a 2 retail boxes in 1 bigger promo box. It is that one that is $178 on the website. It is 178 in store and online just the car stereo is $105 but I argued successfully the $105 should also include the bluray bundle as it is a 'free' bonus …

        • Thanks for the reply. Sounds risky to buy online, they will probably just send the car stereo. I'll try instore.

    • Nice, will try tomorrow. As far as I can tell there should be no issue getting it if you show them the Sony site. And paying more for the bundle makes no sense as it's supposed to be free.

      • Yes that was my point to them! :-) good luck tomorrow

        • +1

Thanks for bringing it to my attention! Luckily they're super slow at getting click and collect orders together else I would have got it today sans Blu-ray player.

  • +2

Do they still make the adapter kits so you don't need to cut into factory wiring? i.e one for MXTX366BT to work with a Holden VT-VX

    edit: Too easy http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/250934814891

    • Thanks for that - I've got a VX commodore and was considering changing the unit this would help if I decide to try to install myself. My only issue would be how to fit it in neatly after taking out the original radio

      • +1

there are heaps of fascia adapters for this. Ebay definitely, but I imagine some retail stores would still have them as well. maybe even JB's, but definitely the sleazy car audio places that crop up everywhere on the outskirts of retail areas.

      • +1
        • That would do the trick - I think that I will enquire how much installation costs first to see if it is worth my while installing it myself.

        • +1

          @Matt88:

If you get the fixture and the adapter cord it will take 15mins tops to get it installed, plug in play.. up to you but it's pretty easy to do

        • +2

          @storyteller:

Bought the Pioneer MXTX366BT today and JB had the extra "pocket" that fills the gap below the player ($18). They said that installation would be $100 so I gave it a go myself and can report now that the unit is now fully installed. I ended up cutting a soldering the wires (last time I soldered was about 10 years ago). Not bothered with installing the speakers, too much hassle.

The only problem that I encountered was that I left a CD (Hunters & Collectors) in the old head unit. Will have to wire it up to the battery one day to pop it out.

        • +1

          @Matt88:

Good job, saved yourself $100 :)

          As for the CD lol

        • @Matt88: Hi Matt. Are you able to use the bluetooth function of this unit? I have installed mine and everything work perfectly fine except i cannot pair my phone with this receiver.

        • +1

          @bargainfinder:

Yeah, blue tooth worked as soon as the pairing was done. The hands free phone works well and music starts to play as soon as I get into the car. HTC One M7.

I ended up putting the speakers into the front doors today - 2 hours well spent.

        • @Matt88:
Mine will not pair, even when i tried a different phone, might give them a call on Monday to find out why.
Did you use your original speaker as rear speaker? or do you just use the pioneer one at the front only? How is the sound quality compared to the old speaker?
I only installed the head unit, might give it a go after i watch some youtube video haha

        • @bargainfinder:

I only put the pioneer speakers in the front and haven't given it a workout yet but the pioneer speakers have more ommff than the stock standard in the Commodore.

I used this guide to get the door panel off http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/holden-commodore-how-tos…

  • I bought the Pioneer 366BT about almost a year ago. Bought wiring harness adapters from Repco (cost about 30$ all up).

The Bluetooth works great, automatically conects to phone (once synced) & starts playing music on its own. Has pause/skip/folder view info on the head unit.

Cant get AM though : /. I haven't bothered troubleshooting it though.

    • So you can definitely confirm radio works on the 366BT, yeah? Apart from the issue with AM?

      • +1

Absolutely, In my stereo the FM band works great. Allows either two or three (I can't remember) bands of FM presets (so either 10 or 15).

Great unit, I obviously recommend it - as long as you don't want to play cds.

Plays great from usb as well

  • Free blu-ray player with the Sony MEXN4050BT or MEXN5050BT

    http://www.sony.com.au/microsite/summerofsony/

  • Bought the Pioneer MXTX366BT today from eastland JB HI FI. Pretty sure I got the last or second last one. We'll see how it goes :D

  • Is this deal over? Showing reg price.

edit: Just noticed on website ended yesterday. : (

    • Yeah same, spewing I missed it. Just got a new car and need to upgrade to a BT unit!

Luckily they tend to do these sort of sales every 3 months or so.
