  • Umm this is very old and has been posted nearly over a year ago.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/8639

Dont forget that if you use the code you most likely wont get the MBC $64.

    • -1

Even if you don't use the code you don't get the money. Atleast I didn't.

  • this is amazing, cause i found the code on ozbargain last night posted from one year ago, used it on 3 website as was told the the code is invalid or expired, and i tried it again 5 mins ago, and magically it was accept it!!

    so thx!!

  • Doesn't work on e63

    • hang on, which plan, 12 months or 24 months. The code won't work on 12 months plan.

      • it doesn't work for both 12 or 24 months for e63

        • it didn't work for the $19/month INQ either

        • Thats a shame. It used to work on the 24x19, but not the 12x29, making the two a similar price.
          This was months ago though.

  • this is ok deal. But I'm with 3 myself & i really wish I did not sign up with them. Their signal coverage is really very bad. Vodafone or Optus is way better.

    • +1

      And telstra is better again.

You get what you pay for..

      • ah, telstra is way too expensive. I'm with optus before & they are not any more expensive than three though. The only reason I'm with 3 is because my family with them.

Optus $49 cap gives you 350 for calling and texting. That's way too much i think, never really finish it. Three allows you to make international calls on top of that, but well, their rate is also way on the sky, lebara is cheaper

        • Expensive but good.
The number of times i have lent my telstra phone to friends who use other networks because they dont have any service is too often to count.
Especially when we leave the metro area

      • 3 roams to telstra. Wouldn't 3 have the best voice coverage then?

        • When 3 roams to telstra it only provides access to 2G (the old network) GSM coverage, not 3G or NextG.

The telstra 2G network is much smaller than the NextG network.
NextG is only available to telstra customers.

          • @anthony: Oh, I thought NextG's wider coverage only mattered in less populated areas. I assumed Telstra's GSM and 3G coverage in capital cities were comparable.

          • @anthony: Not true for some months now.
            3 roams to telstra 2G and 850MHz 3G.
Though I hear some towns are excluded, where Telstra have a monopoly.

            • @freddy: freddy is correct… Three market it as MegaG..

You need a phone that supports 850MHz UMTS (HSPA) and you need to be in a place where Optus or Vodafone get signal..

    • if you live in whoop whoop then I wouldn't be surprised if you are not getting the coverage. I've been with 3 for years, in metro areas its just as good if not better then other providers. I'd have to agree when it gets to outskirts area you rely on telstra 2.5g network..

      • +1

Unless you have a new MegaG phone, in which case your call/SMS coverage should be on par with an Optus YesG phone…

      • i live in rockdale, sydney. If you find it on google map, you wouldn't think it's whoop whoop

  • +2

didnt vodafone and 3 merged? wont they share coverage/

    • +1

      Yes and not yet

  • This is good as it stopped working a few months ago. + for me as this is a reminder to everyone it is working now. $100 is a lot especially if you are on a $19 a month plan. That's free for 5 months. Get referred and you will get a bonus $25 (in case you didn't know).

"Get referred and you will get a bonus $25 (in case you didn’t know)."

I can provide a few Referral Code. email me @ manobik at gmail.

Can anyone clarify how does the referral code work on new online purchase? Does it have any section to put the referral code on the application form? or do we need to call the 3 call centre after receiving the mobile? can it be done after activating the mobile or b4?

    • Be careful they can disqualify all of your credits for this. It has happened to some people before, here and elsewhere.

      • Thanks for reminding. AFAIK they only catch people who distribute the CODE directly, I'm not gonna do that. Codes are provided only on personal email!

    3 sucks

  • it was expired, good on you

  • +1

I've never had a problem with 3, and because I live in a metro area the coverage is fine.

    • +1

      I second that

    • Depends really, I had a friend staying in Macquarie Park and the signal there is atrocious (1-2 bars, sometimes roaming on Telstra). NextG is the best network despite your feelings for Telstra, but like many others before me you get what you pay for ;) (Well, it is VERY expensive)

In order to make the code work,
It only works with the deals already having a special offer,
e.g. $50 online credit or 3 months cap free, apply the 100special code,
it will override the$50 online credit or 3 months cap free and make it 100 dollar off.
which means that it is a further 50 dollar off for those $50 online credit, or whatever over the 3 months cap free.
It does NOT work with any other deals.

I tried many times to get this conclusion.

    • ahh good work, no blackberry then i guess =[

  • don't forget that their customer service is in India .

    • There is an upside to it though, they (the indians) are alot more polite. Try calling Telstra and see what kind of services you get.

  • doesn't seem to work on any $19 caps or 12 month caps which would be too costly to them i guess, on the $29 that's 3.5 months free where most phones dont have ANY discount on the $29 cap..

  • Im still stumped as to whether jane85 is a rep

    • +1

Considering 7/8 of their posts is related to 3, i would say so.

  • could be a fanboy

  • negging this as i had my credit reversed last time i used this and was $100 out of pocket

  • doesn't work for broadband>

  • I can't see the promo code box when I tried to sign up to a new phone on my.three.com.au

    • thats probably upgrades? maybe better luck if you try calling them

      • Order a phone with customer care does not get any credit at all. The credit of $50 is for online ordering.

  • This still works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
