So Amazon doesn't ship these babys to Australia but I couldn't resist the deal so I used Hop shop go and it's giving me an estimated shipping cost of $15 with this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/171957

If anyone has any other alternatives to hopshopgo, please let me know

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/171957

    • i don't really understand this deal. could you please explain?

      • Op updated the post to include the deal i just put in the comment. No real understanding of how the deal works as I have not tried it yet.

      • +2

Hopshopgo gives you a US address to deliver to. You buy them on amazon and set your delivery address as the one given by hopshopgo. When the hopshopgo warehouse receives the item, they will ship it to your address in Australia.

So like, could I buy more amazon stuff for cheap and pile it up in the storage, or do they only allow single shipments?

        • +1

          @Senthen:

Yes, it does say on their website that they can bundle up multiple shipments

    Bloody good price for this

  • +4

Yeah that's a really good price. I have a set of these. Super comfortable, laid back kind of "relaxed" sounding headphones. Pretty flat response, bass is ok - not over hyped like the ATH M50 for example, but no where near as punchy and deep. I prefer these to the M50 but others would be disappointed and miss the punch and brightness.

    • If you listen to Classical music, these are the shiznit.

I own Sony MDR - 1R's. Cost me about $200.

I'm so tempted to buy these at the moment, quite seriously holding myself back from making an impulse decision.

Down voting the OP for making me go through this.

    /joking.

It ain't a joke if you have to tell them its a joke, unless if you are Sheldon Cooper :)

      • Knock Knock Knock

        Moo Moo Moo

        It's Sheldon.

        Knock Knock Kno…

    • The Sony 1R compete with the over-ear Sennheiser Momentum rather than these.

I recently got the Sony MDR-1RBTMK2 (the 2nd gen Bluetooth version with AptX) for $256 and very pleased with them for the price. I wouldn't call them reference quality but they are thoroughly enjoyable and super comfortable nonetheless. In fact, for hip-hop and EDS these would be a better choice than the 598 Sennies. Having said that, the Sony's are great with classical too.

The 598 are venerable cans and at this price everybody should get a pair! However, I have have found that once you cut the chord it's difficult to go back to anything else. The 1RBTMK2's include a cord for critical listening (and for when you run out of the 30-hour battery), but the AptX kind of makes it moot unless you're listening to hi-res audo (24bit /96khz and above).

      • What's EDS?

        • Sorry, I meant EDM (electronic dance music).

  • +2

These are great. I watched for a month or so and the best I could get them down to was ~AU$192 inc shipping bought some time September/October from eglobaldigitalcameras using one of their codes. Amazon Italy once had these for a great price but I think they shut down the international/Australia shipping on that.

    edit

what the deuce, I try link this to a friend in Facebook and it says "..~$36 shipping with Hop Shop Go" Is that the first post before an edit?

    • Yes I edited it after johnno1987 told me about the $20 off deal

  • +1

+1 my current everyday headphones. very natural sounding. Essentially same sound signature as a good set of mini hifi speakers. does vocals amazingly and better with instrumental than electronic music. think goo goo dolls and florence and the machine. still good with dance music but doesn't have the bottom end to back it up.

I got mine a while back for much more from amazon.fr, tempted to get a second set just for the price!

if you do get, do yourself and get a shorter cable on ebay

Works out to be about AUD137.78 if you buy it from the french amazon site at the moment.

      • YEah, But they are sold out. It puts you on a waiting list.

        • That was quick as you could still pick them up when I replied. I even got it all the way out to checkout and it asks if you wanted it to be charged in EUR or AUD and I clicked AUD - hence the exact total of AUD137.78 reference to the door.

Maybe you will be lucky on the waiting list! Best of luck.

        • @deal junkie:

Yeah, thanks for that. I must've missed out by a few minutes.

Worth the try anyway. I really want the headphones. BUt don't trust those forwarding companies. They have shocking reviews.

        • agree

        • @deal junkie:
YAAAAAY, the waiting list worked for me. Just got mine from Amazon France. $137AUD delivered.

          Cheers Deal Junkie

        • no worries

        • @deal junkie:

So we use http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B0042A8CW2 + Google Translate?
Or what is the link :O

        • @cwongtech:
Yeah that was the link. But the deal has expired now as well. Sorry.

        • @wheresmandy:

Are you sure? It says in stock?

        • it may be in stock, however, it does not seem to reflect the discounted price.

  • +1

    wow. huge discount. thanks op

  • +1

    Worth upgrading from ATH-AD900X?

    • +2

Its more of a sidegrade than an upgrade. Totally different sound signature too.

  • Bought one, thx!

  • I'd buy these but I already have too many pairs of headphones thanks to ozbargain. lol

  • Tempted but I already bought a T1 from the last ebay sale.

  • wish i didnt have 20 unused sealed headphones/earphones, other wise would have grabbed another

  • this is an amazing deal. but make sure you compare boxhop with other forwarding services, I honestly don't think it's the absolute cheapest even with platinum. but it really only varies slightly.

  • +2

Might want to read some reviews on HOPSHOPGO if I was ordering and using their services…

    http://www.powerretail.com.au/news/hop-shop-go-right-out-of-…

    • Thats the reason I'm not going ahead with this. Most reviews say they overcharge bigtime.

  • (profanity) that, I paid 245 not long ago…

    • I paid $300 a couple of years ago.

But at least I've had them for a couple of years now. Love them

  • what's better? this or the aiaiai tma 1 studio's?
    http://www.amazon.com/AIAIAI-TMA-1-Studio-Headphones-Black/d…

    • +1

These I'm pretty sure. But I haven't owned the others.

  • +1

Have to say. I dig the look of them

  • +2

    Price is back to 200.

  • Lucky I bought it just in time

  • nooo, just signed up to hop shop go and ready to pull the trigger, then bang, back out to $200

    arr

    • You can try your luck on the French Amazon, 74 euros, but 3 hours waiting list. Whatever that means. :)

      • Nah, French deal is over now as well.

        • Canada still has them for $114 CDN. Won't ship to Aus though.

  • It's back on Amazon. $99.99

    • Just in case people follow, it was back on in the morning, the deal expired.

  • Damn wish I hadn't missed out, congrats to all that got em, hope you like em! Awesome headphones especially at this price!

  • Got one! Woo. Now we play the waiting game : )

    • How did u get one?

      • Got it when it was $99.

  • Hey,

I missed the deal but what is the best company to use to ship products from the US as in an alternative to 'hopshopgo'

    Thanks

  • Just paid Hopshopgo for this - their shipping cost me US$30.90 not ~$15

    • I also just paid. Are you sure you put in the black friday code?

Mine came out at 19.30 in total.

      http://imgur.com/MdF42cn

  • They charged me more for shipping (because Im in Adelaide ???):

    International Shipping Charges: 46.80

    Fuel Surcharge: 3.12

    Mandatory Insurance:
    (Declared Value & Shipping at 0.65%.) 0.98

    Promo Code Discounts Applied: -20.00

    Total US$ 30.90

    • Yeah must be. I got $20USD shipping

      • This is my first time using a shipping forwarder. In short, I entered a package value of $99.99 and paid for shipping. I later recieved an email stating there were value discrepancies and thus my shipment canceled. The only thing I'm shipping are the headphones, not sure what I'm doing wrong. Anyone care to help?

        • +1

Maybe they checked the current price of the HD598's against the reduced $99 and assumed you were trying to get away with a cheaper insurance value. I'm still waiting on a confirmation from them, so I'll let you know if I get the same thing.

        • @wem77:
          Shipped. No problems at all.

        • @wem77: Thanks for the reply. So you just entered $99.99 as the package value?

        • @stjong:

          Yup, that's correct.

  • $18 shipping to Melb here. 3kg (volumetric) weight for a 900g package. Paid a ridiculous $7 repack fee to reduce to 1.5kg. If not for the discount code I would definitely not use.

  • $22.55 USD to Sydney for me but I ordered a pair of sunnies from Amazon along with the headphones.

    Discounted international Charges $ 32.40
    Fuel surcharge $ 2.16
    Insurance $ 0.99
    Repacking charges
    (Cut down) $ 7.00
    Promo/Voucher Code Applied:
    PPHOL14EXP
    BLACKFRIDAY14 $ -20.00
    Total Payment $ 22.55

Nice deal - can't wait for them to arrive. Thanks OP
