  • Would buy 7 if I had money to spare

  • I'm normally pretty big on Samsung but that seems a pretty tip top price right?

  • +1

Bought the 480! Thanks for the deal OP. Been waiting for a large capacity deal like this and free shipping :) finally can upgrade my c: from 120gb to 480gb and have space to install more games on the SSD.

  • Got one thanks!

  • +2

still skeptical about the TLC ultra ii uses for durability, rather buy one that uses MLC.

  • God dammit I've already spent too much this month.
Don't do this to me man

    • This month? It's only the 2nd of the Month lol!

      • +15

        I have a problem

        • +8

Got 99 problems but too many sales ain't one.

  • Is it cheaper to use Amex and save $6 shipping, or a 28 degrees mastercard?

    • Amex 3%. For this deal Amex is $1ish cheaper?

  • This probably wouldn't be good to use as a HTPC Boot drive, if it'll have 400GB+ data written to it each month?

  • +9

Headline is wrong. You can't get it for AUD 188 delivered. Either you use Amex and are slugged 3% in exchange fees or, if paying with 28 degrees, you pay for shipping. Similar outcome in either case at least AUD 194.

  • Damn could not resist buying the 240GB one!

  • I just purchased the 240 crucial drive last night. Is it worth asking Amazon to cancel the order and get this one instead? is Sandisk better than crucial?

    • You don't have much time, this lightning deal is now 41% gone. I'd say it will be sold out in 30 mins… Maybe an hour if you're lucky

    • Buy this one now then cancel the other order after?

    • this sandisk uses TLC, the crucial uses MLC. I chose the Crucial, don't want to lose no data down the track.

      • +3

        This Sandisk ain't no scrub!

how does this compare to Samsung evo or pro?

  • Can I use it to upgrade Surface Pro 2?
    Thanks!

    • No, you'll need something much smaller like an mSATA drive.

I'm not saying it's possible, but not too sure if you can upgrade Surface Pros. I thought they were quite hard to do?

    • You can't upgrade Surface Pros. They glued everything up.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought it was like Pro 1. Apparently, SSD is removable, it's just that it looks like a nightmare just trying to open the tablet up.

you'll need to heat gun the front glass off, high risk of destroying the touch screen ribbon off and totally destroying touch functions. The ssd inside is in msata form.

you can now also get Samsung evo 250gb for all time low $99 usd.

    http://camelcamelcamel.com/Samsung-250GB-2-5-Inch-Internal-M…

they are similar, evo gives you more capacity.

  • Thanks OP. Managed to get the 240. Seems to be more popular as it is now sold out.

  • +2

Low AUD is painful. Only $30 cheaper than the regular price from MSY :(

wow these ssd drives are going like hot cakes.

A few months ago I was like, "I might buy an SSD Drive".

Decided to wait until I got around to it.

4 months later, prices dropped $50.

Man I love being rewarded for being lazy.

    <3 Technology.

Procrastination is the key to flexibility.. and a good clearance deal.

  • Just got one - worked out to be $200 Australian

  • Can't wait when SSD will eventually cost the same as today HDD price. This is just another baby step forward for SSD pricing.

    • +2

      Might be waiting for a while to see a 5TB SSD @ $129 USD….

      • i wonder how dense platters will be by then

  • Got a 480G and a 240G, same cost for delivery 5.x USD, feeling better

  • save about $30 for this one.. pity it isn't Extreme Pro…

  • +2

So I tried to purchase the 240GB version, the item's page said the deal ended but the Lightning Deals page said it was 67% claimed with 4 hours remaining, it would not let you add one to the cart though. I contacted Amazon through their customer service chat and was informed that the deal had indeed expired, but I was given a $15 credit to my account to help me purchase one. I used the credit on the $99 250GB 840 EVO though, as the SanDisk price jumped to $102 and wouldn't deliver to Oz.
    I really like Amazon.

  • Looks like I'm going to be building that new computer after all…

This is the first part I've bought - so many options, SO MUCH FEEDBACK NEEDED:

    A- MicroATX beast
    B- Modified MacBook Pro

    • Not too sure whether this is MAC friendly. But if not u can go option A.

    • +1

      C - Micro atx hackintosh

      • How well do these run should I want to use boot camp and run windows for gaming ?

        • gtx970 on yosimite well

  • Also 960Gb for USD $319, is it cheap?

    • +2

Its pretty easy to calculate the value of the SSD.

Just a guideline without considering the performance and delivery fee,

for example in this deal - $160 for 480GB = $0.33 per GB

Avg, is about $0.45 - $0.50 per GB for SSD in the 480 - 512 GB class SSD.

In the 950 - 1 TB range, you should look around $0.40 - $0.48 per GB

      Hope this clarifies your doubt.
