So depending on conversion rates it's about $488 AUD delivered, vs $559.20 delivered locally, with local warranty

$72 for a lot less stuffing around, and local warranty. Personally I'd probably choose to pay the extra

    • +2

Agree. The shipping fee kills the deal.

    • +3

$72 is a significant saving, however I do agree that I'd wait for a domestic sale on this. One of the biggest perks to buying Dell screens is the comprehensive local warranty.

      • +1

Yes, I'd happily pay a premium for local Dell because of their warranty. No protracted stuffing around like ASUS etc.

        • asus gives you free courier pickup

been buying their stuff exclusively for a decade

what kind of stuffing around are you on about?

        • +1

@furythree: Do Asus send you the new monitor first also?

        • @Lukian:
          no idea
          i dont buy their monitors

but if Dell does that good on them
I have like 10 monitors i have at home that i could use, dont need to fork out extra for warranty that gives me a service i dont need

        • @furythree:
ASUS took months and failed repair attempts before finally sending me a new monitor. Of course I'd long since had to buy one by then.
I got a Dell, as they simply do a refurb exchange.

No warranty for $72 is hardly a significant saving. Maybe if it was $200.

    • I bought the Samsung U28D590DS (which supports 60Hz) for $480.25 via eBay from a local seller during the 15% off eBay-wide sale. Even ignoring the killer shipping, I'd be disappointed by the lack of 60Hz at 4k.

    30hz, you wont want it.

  • +2

Wouldn't this be 110V? if it is you will also need a step-down transformer.

    • Voltage Required:
      100 to 240 VAC / 50 or 60 Hz ± 3Hz / 1.5 A (max.)

    • This isn't the 90's.

  • +3

Dell monitors usually have universal voltage.
This monitor can do QHD only at 30Hz. I'd wait for the P2715Q.

  • +3

I have this monitor at work. It's a great monitor for desktop work (programming specifically). However I'd hold off - I'd suggest the new year will be flooded with 4K HDMI 2.0/DP 1.3 displays which can do 60hz without issue.

In fact, I can't wait for something like the Philips BDM4065UC! 40" of QHD at about the same price this Dell was only a few months ago…

At 3840 x 21607 it's the longest screen in the world!

    • Was looking for a comment on that. Thank you :P

    • +6

      Actually, the tallest screen

      • Yes My Tallest!

Price aside, Acer recently released a 32" 4K, 60hz and Nvidia GSync monitor for PC gamers. Around the $1000 US mark, but a good sign of what's to come.

    I'll bite when 4K, 120/144hz arrives.

  • +1

Don't waste your time with 30Hz if you intend to game. Also you need a powerful CPU/GPU to take advantage as 4k consumes a lot of resources.

    • Waiting for a sale on PB287Q (Asus).

Gaming at 4K? Like you are going slow enough to see any difference?
I assume the monitor will do 1080p at higher refresh.
