Ah, yeah you had to login and apply the promo code. There wasn't any pre-selected insurance for me. The cable wasn't $0.01 in itself, but only after using said code. You could possibly let them know if you wanted to.
For those that are interested in delivery times, the last time GearBest had a 1c delivered offer, I ordered the item early October (1/10/2014) and received it late November. I can't speak for everyone, but I'd expect 6 week minimum delivery. I also had an issue entering the wrong shipping details and I received a response within a day and it was resolved. I wouldn't scrutinize delivery times, given that price is almost free, but if you needed a cable soon, I wouldn't rely on free shipping from the site.
The last ($0.01) iPod cable I got from Gearbest did not in fact seem to work that well. In my car it would need to be fiddled around with for it to work if I was lucky, where as my original Apple cable worked fine. Not complaining for $0.01, and I grabbed another to try, but just letting people know it wasn't all that reliable for me.
All these 3rd party iProduct cables/adapters seem to have a life-span anywhere from 10 seconds to a couple months. Just went through a couple of adapters & a cable today.
Can't agree more! Actually Apple cable is a rip-off but the generic cable is so terrible :(

Never had good experiences with these 3rd party cables tbh. Some never work and the ones that do die after a few weeks. I'm all for competition but when it comes to these items I prefer to buy from Apple. Never had any issues with genuine cables.
this is because of apple putting security chips in the lighting cables so that consumers can pay high prices for cables. And they disable the non-genuine cables in the iOS updates. and it appears that the cable has stoped working

Take care with cheap cables like this. My last one damaged the docking connector on my 4S so it always thought it was plugged into a dock (loudspeaker, alarm, etc did not work)

As soon as I noticed <15minutes after purchase I sent an email to them informing them of the error, they replied back a few hrs later and say sure we have updated the address..
