  • Price match at Good Guys.

    • If it is the same unit at Appliances Online I would get them to price match it. They have always been great at that for me in the past and usually had it in the local warehouse for next day delivery which saves trying to get it home…and having to set foot in a HN store lol

But would need to find the actual advertisement to get them to price match

i've been knocked back many times for a price match because its too cheap. The guarantee is BS

        • Same. AO guarantee is a crock. This will only match if it suits them.

They will never, EVER lose money on a price match item. I've been told this a few times.

        • @snook: they keep making up on these rules, first it has to be advertised, then it has to be a catalog, then it has to be a catalog on their website now it has to be a link to their site. I have given up, they win, I might just try Harvey's at some stage if I have time.

        • @undertaker149: there's your link: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/tcl-50-full-hd-led-tv.html

Edit: also if AO had it, they don't have it now. Lol, can't price match because we don't have it!

        • @snook: I just got a response that the HN site says out of stock, keep looking for hurdles

        • .///

What catalogue is it from, I can't find the offer on their website or in any online catalogue?

Also can you confirm all HN or just a specific store/region?

  • Any chance of a link please? I cannot find this on their website or in the catalogue I received a couple of days ago, wherein the same Santa picture advertises a different TV. Thank you.
    Oh, beaten to it.

    • It was in the Melbourne Herald Sun and probably all other major newscorp papers, so the deal should be nationwide. Sorry, couldn't find a direct link on the HN website. The post will be updated if a link becomes available.

Is this going to be a misprint/pricing error..? Seems it could be too good to be true but I hope not!

    • Doubt it, they were heavily advertising this on TV last night. I'm not sure how this is possible either… unless they only have limited stock. The old bait & hook maybe?

      • I've noticed most retailers near me (JB, HN, etc) have had signs up for a 50" TV at this price point and 32" ones sub $200…I think its just the price point most of the cheaper brands will hit this year.

        • Hmm. Must be a Tsunami of 4Ks on its way in that case. Nothing but good news for us so bring it on :)

  • Or maybe a specific store ony ?

  • Does anyone know anything about this particular tv? Is it any good/feature wise?

    • Looking at TGG specs, it says 3 USB ports but nothing about HDMI. I hope that is an error

      • I think HDMI is a given, I doubt there are LED TV's with HDMI

        • HN specs say 3xHDMI + 3xUSB - alls good

        • +1

@rogdog: here are the specs for the 40 inch version http://www.tclelectronics.com.au/product.asp?pid=149&cid=31

Going by that there should be at least 2 x HDMI ports. 3 year warranty is decent too.

        • just hooked mine up.
          2 HDMI
          2 USB
          2 AVI (1 with AVI to 3.5mm adapter…provided)
          1 VGA

    I hate OzB. I think it's just cost me another $400 :(

    Thanks for that unity.

    • +18

My parents just paid $300 to have a 6 year old 40" LCD repaired….they really need to start checking OzBargain…or maybe mum is right and I should call more often lol

      • +5

        Saved $99, and less landfill!
I like the sounds of your parents.

        • +2

I don't know, I knwo to me (and my dad) $99 for a bigger screen, thinner lighter unit, USB ports and the "something shiny and new" effect is probably a good deal.

As for landfill…he is of the generation where anything that might maybe one day be sort of useful maybe for someone gets put in the shed and will be my job to shove into landfill when they die.

        • +2

          @Japius:
You're going to shove 'em into landfill when they die! Probably save a bit though.

As for TV repair, I'd have to spend a hundred for the, dare I say, extra ten inches. Not to mention new warranty and probably half the weight.

        • +5

@Japius: A new LED will probably use less power than a 6 year old lcd too.

  • If I am looking for a 50" I would just buy this but holding out for a 60".

    • +6

buy 2 and cut 1 up to extend the other.

      • LOL :-)

  • Great tv with great specs with a great price!

    • How do you know it's a great TV?

  • Another 400 gone hahaha

  • Has anyone called up and cofirm this yet??

  • i would like a 60 inch but this is too good of a price for a 50 inch.. should i buy or not.. hmmm

  • That Yamaha soundbar is good too

  • I just bought a projector, ugh!

  • Refresh rate 100hz?

  • This or the Sony 50" KDL50W700? Sony is probably a better TV but it cost twice as much. Hard choice…..

  • Trent the TV man(Trent86), please give us your 2 cents on this deal!!
Anything to be aware of for this TCL? I saw the 4K TCL on display and it looks really nice.

    • +1

      Yeh, i wouldn't buy until Trent86 speaks

  • Was on the Phone with Harvey Normal North Ryde, they had only 1 (display) but have 20 on order and the Lady helping me said that it has been listed as $699 in her system. She suggested to bring the advert in with you if you do go into buy it.

    • lol

  • Moorabbin supposedly offering 4 years more warranty for $45 to make it seven years. Highlight supposedly.

  • We can't do click and collect on these? Anyone have a full page scan or PDF of the actual ad?

    • YEa a full page scan would be good, the jpeg screenshot is too pixelated for finer details. Any kind Ozbargainer out there gladly do this pretty please?

  • Any idea if there is a setting to turn off overscan with this TV?

I've got a media centre PC which I connect via HDMI to my old Bauhn LCD TV. But if I use full 1080p resolution it always automatically turns on overscan mode which means bits of my screen get chopped off.

    • bought one today, no overscanning when I set it on Panorama mode :)

  • So many bloody tv deals last few days, maybe I should wait to see if any more options spring out before I make any purchases. It's just to hard to pass up on these offers, because once they're gone they're gone.

  • great price. but when you put it next to another brand FHD LCD LED (like Sony) the piture quality of this 1 is noticeably different.

    • +2

Have you done this? It's hard to do that in-store I would expect with the way the TV's are all connected up together…

      • +1

yes. they had 1 setup next to a sony 50" in store.
its still a great price for size.

    • apart from some of the proper 4k setups, i've never seen a TV look good in store.

  • Reading the fine print would have told us more info. I'm guessing.

  • Price error???. Couldn't find anywhere below $696 .00 TGG.

    • i'm going to go in to the store and show them the ad :) see how i go! no harm in trying. hehehe

  • +1

Confirmed : appliances online will price match in stock or equivalent Inc delivery and other charges.

    • +1

      done!

    • I just called them but they refuse to price match without an online link to Harvey norman website that includes free shipping? How did you get them to price match at this price?

      • I did a chat online, sent the picture, they rang around and I got it confirmed. Free delivery Inc and 2 year care plan

        • I can't even find a link to do an online chat on their website, any tips?

        • When you go to the website, there's a bottom drop up that says GET SUPPORT NOW, that takes you straight to online chat. :) I hope this helps.

      • same as me, they want a website or written quote.

  • wonder if this will prompt JB to drop their Soniq 48" to $399

  • Jb doesn't usually do price match thatnsteeo butnifnappliance online offer an 'equivalent' I'd be prepared to go with them instead.

    • That does not look like the same Model…

      • +2

this tv is L50B2800F - reviewed tv is 50FS5600

still, if the 120Hz TV is poorly rated, I'm concerned about tho 50Hz on sale here.

        • i understand but the one reviewed is a "Smart TV" and that same smart tv elsewhere had a better review … i wouldn't bother with a cheap brand smart tv thats for sure… @ $399 for a spare tv for kids to watch whatever on .. i'm not going to be too worried.

Lets see if i can even get it at $349 ($50 rebate on amex as well :)) .. going to venture into the store in about an hour or so ….

        • I think this one is 100hz ?

        • @Danstar: yeh thats what the specs say…

        • +1

          @scud70: Rodog assumed its 50hz

        • @Danstar: Sorry about that, I was in a frenzy reading reviews and prices I confused myself about which model was on sale

    • That is not the same model. This is a new release I believe.

      • -6

Show us a review of the current model as this review is the only info we cab base a desxion off. Better to pay a bit more for a TV you'll be using a lot. But from the sound of the brand TCL I don't think it'll fare well. Maybe for a bathroom novelty to try n impress some bogan friends?

        • +1

I only stated that it was not the same TV, which is a fact. You don't neg facts. And by the way I didn't neg you either.

But the same TV above (50FS5600) has 4 stars from 72 reviews on Amazon It couldn't really be that bad.

Actually look at any TCL television review on Amazon and they all seem to be between 3.5-4.5 stars.

        • I've had my TCL for 5 years and I have installed 3 TCL TVs for my neighbour. Never the briefest problem.

  • Gotta love it when Harvey Norms steps up to the challenge , he's had enough of taking so much D for Dick.

100 Mhz and reasonably good reviews. Can anyone tell me whether I can plug in my PS3 into it, not via HDMI, but via the old school ports (red yellow blue I think)? Rocksmith works better on the old school ports than HDMI.

    • Again another different model, L50E5000F3DE has 3D capabilities.
But you are right, it does have a pretty good review compared to 50FS5600.
Safest bet is to visit HN and hope they have a display model to view.

Argh there is just too many TV deals and prices keep dropping.. when will the insanity stop.

  • I went to the store and paid a deposit as they said TVs will arrive later this afternoon.

I also tried Appliance Online to price match, but the chat operator said they can't. It seems different operators give different response.

    • Did you get a chance to see a display model for this TV?

      • no they didn't have any on display. The guy even didn't know they are running a promotion on it. He had to ask other staff.

  • Man this is a crazy deal. If only if I had waited. Feel like going into a store anyway and seeing if they have a display model I can fiddle with.

  • Interesting to see how HN gets competitive every time ALDI has a special coming up…dear old Gerry loves a fight but he should rather improve the performance of his stores.

  • +1

I've been waiting for a while to use my $100 HN gift card and this is the perfect time. Will put this in the kids rumpus room for their movie and gaming needs.

    Cheers OP!!

  • Thnx

Also in the WA paper great deal will get five for work

  • +1

Great price IMO but Why I can't find any information on Internet? It's not even on TCL website. Google search for L50B2800F only returns Appliance Online and other shops. I can't even find out how many USB or HDMI ports it has. Has anyone been able to find specifications?

    • +1

I was just at HN and it has 3xHDMI, no composite. Can't remember how many USB ports, but it did say USB PVR. Label also says UHD.

      • Has it got VGA computer connection?

        • 2x HDMI
          2x USB
          1x VGA

    • +2

and a 5 star energy rating on the box if that's important to anyone
