Samsung Blu-Ray Player BDP 1500 - $150 from Dick Smith

330

Hi guys, my first post. I spot it in the Doncaster shopping centre DickSmith. Not sure how many left though. I think you can't get any cheaper than $150 for a BLU-RAY player, esp it's a Samsung. Sorry about my shaky hand hence the blury photo though.

  • great price, haven't seen any cheaper than that!

  • Wow good price I got one free last year with my TV and its awsome player

  • Awesome deal.. picked myself up a BD-P1600 for $375 3 months ago.. so this price is awsome for the P1500

A DSE ticket marked like that usually means it's the last one (display model) in that particular store and they want to get rid of it because it's quit stock. Just make sure to check if they still have the bits and pieces for it like the remote. Chances are other DSE stores probably won't price match even if they have stock, but doesn't hurt to try. Really awesome price BTW, I'd buy it myself if I don't have a blu-ray player already.

  • I bought 3 units in WA for $191 each and thought that was a pretty good buy for a blue ray player. 1 was in a sealed box and 2 ex-display units with opened boxes. Not a bargain but cheap!
1 of the display unit did not come with hdmi cable so the manager gave me one off the shelf at $50 each. From the picture, this is their last unit in the shop and make sure it comes with the remote and hdmi cable. I also bought extended warranty to 3 years in total so I will get a replacement updated model in the next 3 years if any unit fails.

  • Got one from the Large Chadstone Store at $191.

Had a few hassel with the guy who sold me. I had called up to check if they have stock. Once I reached, this guys said that they don't have stock. I had to look out for it myself. Then with the HDMI cable he said that this is clearance so I get what they have. He confirmed that it does not come with an HDMI cable, inspite of my saying to him that I know others have bought it with the cable.

At home I saw that HDMI cable should have been supplied as per the user manual. I had to call them up and then go and pick up an HDMI cable. I am not sure though that is what it came with the player, it appears a cheap one, it doesn't have gold plated contacts.

Would someone know if I were to tell them that Doncaster had it at $150 that they would refund the difference (14 day price guarantee).

It is a good deal, considering that a year back these were priced at many times its current price. Although this week I noticed that most of the Blueray players have cut prices. Panasonic at $333 with 5 BD is still available.

    • I ALSO DID NOT GET THE hdmi CABLE, BUT I HAVE TOO MANY SPARE hdmi CABLES AT HOME NAYWAYS. SO ITS ALL GOOD

  • thank you, i was the one who purchased the display model for $150. it work brilliantly. although im trying to regionfree it and failed so far :P..

thanks again, this is a deal i could not pass

  • Thanks for the post, I bought one yesterday.

Anyone knows if this player can play divx? I have flashed it to the latest Australia firmware, 21, made it region free, and it still does not play divx.

I believe the UK model can.

  • Finally I managed the get the Chadstone Store refund the difference. So I got mine at $150 and got the HDMI cable too.

It is working well. Great post. Thanks.
